Technically everyone using the word the modern way is using the word wrong. The traditional meaning of ‘cuckold’ is ‘a man who should be embarrassed because his wife stepped out on him,’ not the modern fetish meaning.

There’s also often a bit of a subtext of ‘he should have known better than to marry a lusty young woman though; young women have sexual urges he was never going to meet, and he let his dick do his thinking and this is what you get when you do that.’

Generally when it's used as an insult it's referring to men who's wives sleep around without his consent, i.e. "real" cucks not fetishists. So I'm polyamorous and have and have had long term girlfriends in the past and my wife has had boyfriends and girlfriends in the past as well.
