The former would be a "Chad", specifically that of the "hobosexual" variety if you're really into online slang.

He's an attractive man who often scams or relies on a woman to cover his living expenses.

The latter might be considered a "manlet", but I think that's too broad since it's just a derogatory term for short men in general. I think there was a more specific term for "short man who tries to become more muscular". I did some searches but I just come up with "gymcel.", but that doesn't fit since that's about someone who is trying to get fitter and still failing with women. It doesn't describe someone who is muscular enough to be attractive. He could also simply be a sugar daddy if he uses his wealth to attract women.

To me, the main draw of a "Chad" is that they are physically, viscerally attractive to a woman the way that a hot woman is to a heterosexual man.

That's the fantasy: to be the kind of man who is attractive to women in that lust-at-first-sight way. It's the fantasy of not needing an interesting hobby, cool job, great social skills, or a big social circle to get women. It's the fantasy of simply being attractive, full stop.

As far as I understand, Chads can be attractive for any combination of reasons as long as the key appeal is visual. In theory any body type can be a "Chad" if there is enough to look for somewhere. Someone could have movie star abs but an ugly face, an average height but boy band face, etc.

Money, size, and social status can play a part or grant greater access or opportunities for sex, but in my view Chad is Chad because of their body. They are not simply a normal guy with $1,000,000 in his bank account or 100 friends. They're the male model who is an 8-10 / 10 who is also probably rich and well-connected.

The tall handsome guy is a Chad, Chad is just a physical attractive male, the other guy isn't a Chad because women don't care about muscles or wealth like that while his height is an impediment when it comes to getting women. 6-6-6 is used because it is a way it illustrate attractive traits in numbers, although there is evidence that 6' and 6"(well 6.3" to 6.4") are what women like the most from the studies(although it is probably more like 6'2-6'4 for zoomer girls)

Chad cab be openly repulsive in terms of personality (I.e sexist, racist, homophobic) and still have women wanting him. Early on in my time on Reddit I thought of Chad specifically in the high school/university context as someone with strong social influence who's popular with women. Family money helps of course, but not required. Didn't have a specific look in mind. There are dudes with neither looks nor charisma who just happen to be really good at throwing a football or running really fast or something and are therefore treated like gods.

I came to learn that for certain people on this website Chad is a borderline mythological figure who has classic Hollywood tier looks, shredded body, and uses these features to monopolize all of the sex, particularly on dating apps and in night life contexts.

The well educated (lawyers, doctors, dentists...) and very attractive women I know go for the successful, educated, sophisticated and facially very handsome pretty boys, tall is only if they can but (local) average or a bit above average is doable, ugly face or broke not. I don't really know any working class women but based on what I saw on the streets they more likely go for muscles but otherwise equally broke guys with looksmatching. Muscles do not play much in the first group, you cannot be overweight of course but in 2025 is a very acceptable criteria anyways.

That's what chads are in general but can specifically mean very masculine looking guys who are tall, have visible muscles, etc. The gigachad meme is basically chad on the next level with overflowing masculinity with so much muscle that it makes a regular chad looks average.

So it depends on context. For some, chad is a mindset and personality while for others it's about how they look or both.

Someone who fits most-to-all criteria for “Conventionally attractive and gender-conforming” male in your society and culture.

Both of your example men could be Chads, depending on how much being short holds the second man back, Your Mileage May Vary depending on the culture.

Sure there is nuance, but generally there is criteria which can be used to determine where a man stands on the Conventionally Attractive scale.

Some methods would be if they have more sexual partners than the average, receive more matches in Online Dating than the tiny percent of matches most men receive, higher income than average, etc.

Generally those methods do correlate with a man’s social status (including attraction) 90% of the time (barring non-Chad men who get lucky).

Seeing Chad as an actual person is dumb and hurts the pill frame work because people constantly think they are debunking it all when they say "I know some dude who is short and fat with a hot wife" or "I dont care that my husband is ugly" blah blah blah. Chad being rich tall good looking and confident is an idea that all men shouldto aspire to if they want to be attractive but if there are certain insurmountable biological limitations it just means a man should concentrate on the others, you don't need all of them to be attractive enough to simply get a woman its just useful to know what the ideal is.
