You have it mixed up. You should say asian women are far more open to dating white men than white women are to asian men. I even think more asian women date white men than they date asian men. And now that I think about it the mans racial preference in dating doesnt even matter. If his preference doesnt find him attractive he will be single because women basically chose who they date from who is romantically interested in them. I have a friend who is half Asian with his Dad being the Chinese one. He has a joke caste system (well he wouldn’t say it’s a joke) for Half Asians where the if the Dad is the Asian one they are the higher level as it’s much harder for an Asian male to pick up a white female than the other way around. Games changed. Think I have seen at least 2-3 couples in the last month (all gen Zers) of asian dudes with good looking white women.

There are a lot of mainstay opinions about interracial relations, like the following:

White guys date asian girls because they're easy
Black guys only date fat white women
East and south asian men get no sexual attention
Black women are unwanted

A lot of these opinions are actually being increasingly disproven in real life, especially in major cities like where I am an and among the gen Z demographic. A lot of you are basing your opinion off of OKCupid data from 2014. Whilst there is definitely still a penalty for not being white (as either gender), its starting to become somewhat overstated. Even when looking at the older, a lot of the match rates differences are within the margin of error. The most important thing these days is being physically attractive, socially competent, engaged on various forms of social media and (in mens case) tall. Sitting there thinking you're at some kind of major advantage because you're white is doing more and more white people a disservice.

The ones into K-pop or K-dramas will. I think that it has to do with the story that being in a relationship tells in their mind. The women who don't see Asian men as high status don't want to date them, while the ones who see them as of higher status (because they are into K-pop) will. Very simple: 1) Asian women generally have more attractive personality traits than white women - asian women are generally more feminine, more humble (and modest), more family-oriented, more loyal. Also, some guys prefer their appearance too.

First of all, since K-pop and K-drama Asian guys (mostly East Asians) became popular in many places and you see now, especially among younger generations, more pairings of Asian men with non-Asian women incl. white women.

In Eastern Europe Asian men have always been desired. It's mostly, like you mentioned yourself, the Anglo countries who were systematically putting Asian men down portraying them as romantically undesirable.

This started long ago when first Asian men arrived in America and white men got jealous of them attracting women. Silly stereotypes were created that survived until this very day and are especially repeated by white men with insecurities who want to feel better than men of other races.

Western media, especially Hollywood, gave Asian men only romantically undesirable roles and kept showing them as weird, nerdy types. If you have ever watched Korean dramas you will know what a sexy Asian man is! But people in the West have never seen that in the past, so women had believed that an Asian man can't be a good lover.

This is changing now. Asian men are ❤️!

P.S. Above all Korean and Japanese men are desired because of the soft power (Japanese anime, K-pop/-drama).

The phenomenon of White Men generally finding Asian Women very sexually desirable but White Woman generally finding Asian men the least sexually desirable ethnicity( according to studies) is not very difficult to work out.

Men( as a generalisation) are very attracted to feminine, petite, Woman. Both culturally and physically; Asian Woman tend to display very stereotypically feminine traits.

Woman(as a generalisation) are very attracted to stereotypically masculine Men. They want big tall, dominant guys and these are not traits often associated with Asian guys-at least in the eyes of western woman.

What’s interesting is the inverse of this seems to occur with other entities depending on gender but is always related to masculinity and femininity.

Black men are generally seen as very attractive to white Woman because of perceptions of masculinity.

Conversely however black Women generally rank as the least desirable ethnicity according to dating studies because they are they are stereotypically viewed as less feminine than other ethnicities.

In very simplistic terms Asian Woman are so desirable to Men because they so feminine. What naturally follows though is that Asian men are also feminine( relatively speaking) and so not as sexually desirable to Woman of other ethnicities who are seeking the most masculine males.

Dating an Asian woman can quite often be racist. Its a “preference” based on an expectation of getting more of what men like to call “traditional”, which is in effect “I wanna be the big boy & also not have to clean my room ever again”.

Same as a woman dating another race can also be racist.

There’s also intersectionality, where there’s different disadvantages that can be gendered, racial, or socioeconomic.

A lot of Asian countries are known for being deeply sexist- it’s a big issue. The issue that gives you your “trad wife” ideal. So a man will benefit from choosing the Asian race, whereas there’s no advantage- and quite possibly a disadvantage for a woman doing the same.

All these variations are still discriminatory: assuming anyone - man or woman- is a certain way because of their skin colour and nothing else, is racist, even if it’s “benevolent”, like dude wanting an Asian chick cos she’s hot, respectful & keeps house.

This is different to someone who respects the culture and is genuinely passionate about it, or they weren’t drawn to them just because of race. Or their skin and shape is just appealing to you, that’s preference.

But dudes that go: western women suck, that’s why Asians are hot cos they know how to keep a man happy is just being racist.

These are concepts I don’t expect most people on here to be able to grasp.

I’ve noticed this changing a little recently. The Asian bro type seems to do fine with dating. Both of my brothers fit this category; one was in a frat, both played sports in high school and are naturally extroverted. One of them went to collage in the south and still found it easy to date. Also my best friend and I both have Asian dads and white moms. We live in a non diverse suburban area. Chronically online people seem to think that Asian men are either incel math nerds or kpop boys for some reason, which doesn’t reflect reality at all. And lots of Asian women, me included, are not into white men. They prefer asians or other men of color for lots of different reasons. I personally don’t find pale skin and blonde hair attractive. Y’all can choose to ignore my comment as a “personal anecdote” but the situations I mentioned are way more common than people choose to believe.

I will say it’s harder for Asian guys who fit the “nerd” stereotype to a T to be seen as attractive and quirky. The same is true for Asian women, but they still probably get some attention from creeps.

Congrats, you discovered racial preferences. (And in some cases, plain old racism.) It does suck whenever people dismiss dating you for a shallow reason, but there’s not much to be done about it. And fortunately, not everyone has the same preferences, and racial preferences do seem to be diminishing.

I see a lot more people dating outside their race in general these days, including white women with Asian men and white men with Black women. So I’d say sometimes it’s just a personal preference for certain physical characteristics, which won’t change, but other times it’s based on stereotypes or having a racist family, and those issues are slowly becoming less common.

I think with the rise in Korean influence in American pop culture that will change. The longer the writers strike in Hollywood, the more they license stuff from overseas to fill in the gaps, the more it will be open to.

Every group I’ve come across has people who have a problem when it comes to people from their own racial background dating an out group if the person is attractive. The difference is the framing when it comes from women. It’s always more like a combination of concern trolling and infantilization.

I think there are biological and socialization reasons that this is true. On the socialization front, a lot has improved and I think Asian men are seeing a better interracial SMP in some demographics. There may be a limit to how far this can go, though.

Depends on where you are. I live in Japan. The fast majority of women (Japanese and foreigners) seem to want to date Japanese men. I also used to only date Japanese men. It’s only lately I’m open to dating mixed guys and foreigners too. Japanese tend to shy away from problems and difficult conversations etc. . Doesn’t really work for me when thinking LTR. I think that generally speaking, you are probably right, but when it comes to women who are interested in/live in Asia, it’s the opposite. Then again I live in Japan, idk how it is in Indonesia. Probably not as much AMWF couples as in Japan, but I can’t say anything about it since I know nothing about the dating scene there.
