37% of 475 men surveyed who are all members of telegram or fb groups for the dating coach’s “dating advice business”, most of whom are 18-30. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say maybe that “statistic” shouldn’t be too broadly applied to the 4 billion males on the planet…🙄

I highly doubt up to 37% of men have paid for sex considering the sample size is the clients for his dating coaching services. The men who buy shit like that most likely aren’t getting sex easy so will be more likely to pay for sex. Also in the same article, he says surveys and studies say it is about 12-14% in the US, I will say this number is probably the same as the global amount since I’m most of the world prostitution is illegal. As for the ramifications, I see none, a lot of women are either turn of by or see prostitution as morally wrong so men aren’t going to admit doing it.

The only reason it’s not 100% in one way or another is the guys at the top that women jump on to fuck for free. Every other man pays in some way, usually at a pretty high cost.

The 37% globally isn't distributed evenly by country. Last I've checked, in countries where prostitution is deemed acceptable like Cambodia/Thailand ~90% of men have paid for sex at some point, while in countries where it is persecuted like the US ~15% of men have done the same. Basically where its actually accessible, men pay for sex.

From what I could read without signing in from the article, it said 12%-14% of American men have used prostitution. Seems to be in line with other stats I've come across.

I don’t have an issue with this. My friend is an escort and from what they’ve told me as long as you’re very thorough in verifying/background checking your clients it’s a mutually beneficial arrangement.

The majority of men that they work with are super rich and don’t have time to date/ don’t want to bother with it or super socially awkward guys that want company. Not really the seedy douchey guys you normally think of.

I don’t think it’s a bad option for someone who is seeking sex and has the funds.

I mean, it's hard to know if any trend exists at all because the other surveys they reference near the start are from different pollsters likely utilizing different sampling methods and procedures.

Plus, that's a global survey.

Having said that, I think that if you were to frame it as "% who paid for some form of female romantic/sexual companionship in the last year" that a number around 10-20% would strike me as plausible.

Or a much lower figure between %1-5 that forms the vast majority of the market. That also seems plausible.

Maybe some combination of both, like 10-20% ever having done it vs. %1-5 in the last year (probably many times).

Unfortunately I have no evidence of this beyond personal anecdote observation and intuition. So it's really a grain of salt sort of thing.

This sounds a bit too alarmist. I think more people are realizing marriage isn’t a good deal for them because of easily accessible information and marriage is overall seen less important by the younger generation. From the study:

In 2022, 22% of never-married adults ages 40 to 44 were cohabiting.

I don’t see an issue with cohabitating over marriage. Unless you want kids, tax incentives or are religious there really isn’t much reason to get married.

As for men paying for prostitution this is only an issue while prostitution is illegal. We have no way of knowing these girls are doing this willingly. They may not have access to healthcare or lack safe environments to provide services. Also there is no government entity enforcing age restrictions on the women who become prostitutes and a lot of them are teens in illegal sex work. I work with sex trafficked teens and they often present older than they are you might not know if you’re raping a kid.

If you pay for a prostitute who is often being forced against her will to sell her body and often times underaged you are a piece of shit.

Going to a place like the bunny ranch where prostitution is regulated is the only ethical way to pay for sex.

I’m in public safety and you really wouldn’t say stuff like “but it’s okay, I’m paying for a service” or anything else to justify unregulated prostitution if you’ve seen the things that I’ve seen.

I don't know about ramifications but from what I hear, inflation hasn't hit that industry as hard as it's hit say restaurant prices.

Still, 37% is super high for THAT age group but if it's the same sample willing to pay top $$ for dating advice it makes more sense.
