Academia was always meant for the elite or the cerebral. From the ancient times, to the founding of Oxford and the like, for as long as proper schooling and academic institutions have existed, its core demographic has always been the naturally cerebral or the rich (historically only accepting intellectual males, not intellectual females; and historically only accepting rich males, not rich females).

Academia was never designed for the “average dude.” The average dude is not intellectual, cerebral, nor rich.

Conversely, the average dude likely benefitted from joining the military or some sort of *tactile** apprenticeship*. Not academics.

Why do gals perform comparatively better than guys in school? Perhaps the average gal is slightly more cerebral than the average guy? (Inb4 I know IQ-based-“geniuses” are more male than female). Or perhaps the average gal has better future time orientation and is able to mentally tough out environments that are boring her/aren’t playfully engaging. Who knows.

Either way, I know this much: academics was never meant to be easy for the average dude. It’s not in his wheelhouse. It’s not his natural capacity.
