Ok so this is my general thing for appearance (not personality or morals, as the question asked for looks):

Me: - age 22 - 5'8 - dark long curly hair, green eyes, tan skin (Italian and Ukrainian/Balkan) - athletic/lean, pear shaped body (bigger bum and thighs, small boobs), flat stomach with some ab definition - I've been told I'm around a 8/10 (not being cocky, I'm autistic and I'm being clinical based on others perception of me, I also have been assessed by those looksmaxxers that look at math of face out of curiosity) - facially: big eyes, thick eyebrows and eyelashes, big lips, small nose, high cheekbones, clear skin (I take very good care of my skin)

My type: - age 19-25 - 5'6-6'0 - muscular/ heavy lifter (can be some chub, just not skinny or fat) I think this is understandable because I also work out alot - shoulder length luscious head hair, any colour (head hair is big for me, I love guys with long hair I can run my fingers though) - white/Hispanic/asian - facially: eye colour does not matter, I like smaller noses, lip size/type not a big deal.

That's true. Maledom isn't really any challenge to the norms or gender dynamics. It's just what's seen as "normal" taken to extremes.

I'd say that'd be a completely fair characterization if the what the 'sub' woman is seeking is mainly about her wants and her pleasure. Even to the degree most of what she wants done is stuff the man cannot physically derive pleasure from.

I don't think it ends up like that too often just because male and female sexuality is different and men can simply get more out these dynamics typically. Both physically and mentally, because their actual body parts are involved and they have a more visual sexuality.

The links u/Muscletov put up, especially the second one. 254 women responded to the man with hair, and then the same man in the exact same photos was fairly artfully rendered as bald/balding and only 27 responded. He's still an attractive man bald. Some men's features or head shape really benefit from hair but not really in his case, yet the responses to him fell like a rock.

And I never said any of the things you attributed to me. A lot of people responded so maybe you mixed me up with someone else. I said that kind of drop (90%) in responses means something.

As for the man in the pics you posted, I agreed that he seems to have given up on himself assuming his appearance and what your appearance does for you socially and professionally matters to him.

But what prompted me to respond to you was your shot at the "woe is me" crowd. The men who did say balding kills any and all chance to enjoy dating are wrong. But whatever a response rate on a dating site means precisely, a drop of 90% means something. And for men like me who didn't start out "quite attractive" like the men in these pics, balding in our 20s can be pretty daunting socially. Can you not see that? Do you really think you know my experience better than I do?

There simply isn't a woman in the world who would say, "Wow, my dream is to be with a skinny, short, bald guy 😍" whereas any characteristic you have as a woman, as long as you're healthy, will always have a high number of men who will actively want that. Guys are really bad at assessing their own looks and the looks of other men. They miscalculate what counts as "average": when they share pics of what they consider to be average, they often show an attractive guy.

Many idolize Clavicular, despite him being and looking like a weirdo.

At the same time, most are also absolutely awful at taking pictures of themselves and making themselves look good on dating apps. Most guys' profiles are terrible: poorly-taken photos; bland, weird or non-existent bios. If a lot of these guys were better at marketing themselves, they would have more success.

Overall, the problem seems to be that guys just don't understand what women find attractive. They put themselves down, but also show themselves in a bad light, which only reinforces the original problem. They listen to idiot male influencers who tell them what women want, instead of women themselves.

I sympathize with young men in particular, as the era of men being unreasonably confident in their own hotness is over. Again, it's largely the fucking idiots like Clavicular doing this to them, instilling them with a lack of confidence, despite their own clear and obvious flaws.

I’m pretty sure men tend to overrate themselves. But I don’t know how great the effect is. I think generally people are able to tell where they fall in the totem pole with decent accuracy, especially if they are being genuinely honest with themselves.

People shit on clav but he looks better than he did before. It’s undeniable. Is he woman’s ideal man? Maybe not. But he’s closer than he was prior to “looksmaxxing”

I think some guys have trouble telling what women find attractive but I think generally a decent amount of guys have a good grasp of it. The issue is much of what women want (and men too tbf) is immutable. A handsome face, with a nice jawline, good cheekbones, nice eyes, a nice nose and lips. I mean some of this can be surgically altered but even modern plastic surgery has its limitations. And it’s really dependent on your physical base and traits. Even with surgery, not everyone can be good looking.
