Man-child who has a professional job and is capable of independently operating a home, including mortgage, bills and providing for his kids without leaning on me or his ex, but is incapable of/unwilling to relinquish his ‘halcyon days’, otherwise known as the things that make him who he is and the interests than many women dismiss as childish, selfish or stupid when men hit their 40s. That said, he should see me as someone he respects and empathises with, and be willing to consider my views on his risk-taking hobbies, knowing that my default position will always be that adults make their own decisions, his body/life, his choice, but that any choice he makes may influence a choice I might then make about my willingness to stick around. Yes, yes, I get that when you become a parent your priorities should change, but who you fundamentally are should not.

Reciprocally, I have a professional, full time job and am capable of running a home, including mortgage, bills and repairs, and I am the primary provider for my kids. I have my own interests too. I don’t need to remind him to do anything to run his own home, but I can revel in caring for him when he’s physically in need like recovering from illness or injury. That meets my need to care for him without infringing on his ability to be the man he is.

Edit: it literally didn’t occur to me to include physical characteristics until I read the other comments. I didn’t think I had a physical type, but I probably do. It’s not as important as the other stuff I mentioned though.

Women: Bookish , skinny, ethnic (black, latino, etc). Agreeable but not a doormat. Shorter than me but not under 5'3 at least. Around my age hopefully but I'd date 3 years younger five years older.

Masc Men: Tall 6'+ would be nice Quiet kinda laid back. I love muscles always have always will. Maybe a little aggressive or assertive. Facial hair is fine.

Ironically enough, my best friend who is like a sister to me is my exact type.

5'8", ginger, long hair, small waist, big booty and medium boobs, thick thighs, gorgeous face.

On the other hand, ever since I am with my gf, I started prefering smaller boobs, skinnier bodies, shorter hair, glasses. She still has a big booty and an adorable face, but the rest of my "type" has changed.

It's funny how your "type" changes over time, and experience.

I'm going to assume you mean my type rather than my ideal woman.

White, hair and eye color don't matter, kind and caring, reasonable but not a pushover, kinda low self esteem, cute and neotenic in the face, not "sexy", typically "plain" looking, meaning like, girls who you don't think are ugly but would never turn your head, a little bit overweight, I don't mean "thicc" in the traditional sense of super wide hips fat asses and huge tits, but like actually a little bit overweight in a way that is not typically considered flattering. These are the kinds of girls I end up dating.

Now as for what I'd prefer, basically that but minus the self esteem issues, maybe wide hips, preference for haircuts with bangs, wanting children, very good at holding a conversation and capable of looking at art, film, and music in a critical way. And also having some sort of artistic outlet, no preference for any particularly, like it could be music writing or visual art it doesn't matter much to me.

Someone I can just be honest with, who doesn’t beat around the bush and just tells me exactly what’s on his mind. This is really important for me to be able to establish trust. I feel more comfortable with guys who are considerate and empathetic. I also like guys I can laugh with and act goofy around, having the same sense of humor goes a long way. I like people who have somewhat different tastes than mine and can introduce me to new things. Appearance-wise I’m not too picky, as long as they aren’t fat or stick thin. Height has never really mattered to me either.

Other traits. I like driven girls who are a bit stubborn. Extra points if they are nerdy, or super weird. Confidence without attention-seeking is a plus, since I like introverts who are down to Earth. As far as style goes, I have a range of what I like, but the sweet spot is adorable winter clothes, or dresses in the summer.

As far as interests, I want someone who is highly cultured and intellectually curious. Appreciation of the arts is a must. Also must like cats.

Also, as far as beliefs, not politically conservative, and not religious.

Also, Scottish accents kill me, but living in the US means that one isn't happening.

21 year old girl here. I don’t consciously think I have a type but I tend to go for guys who are average height, in decent shape but not super built (think goes to the gym but only a few times a week and likes the odd pizza and beer body type), my age or maybe 3 years older max, and are either latino, black, asian, mixed race, or Mediterranean white. I’m not against dating white guys but I live in a pretty multicultural area and am mostly friends with people who aren’t white so I think it just works out that way.

As for personality, I love nerds and am very impressed when a guy is very focused on his work but still knows how to have a good time. I’m like that as well so I just get along better with people who have similar interests to me and can teach me something new. I also tend to go for guys who end up having drug problems but hey, we all have our flaws.
