saw a lady behind a glass door to a mall so I went to another door, she followed me. She was waiting for me to open the door so she could walk through it.
Ontario, Canada here. I get a thank you about half the time, and the ones I do get are split pretty evenly between men and women. I'll hold the door for everyone and anyone. Almost everyone is very happy, most give a thanks or a bead nod or something. I'd say 1 in 5 times I hold the door open for a woman she remarks something along the lines of "I didn't need you I can open the door myself". Had I not held the door I would probably be told I'm an asshole.
I still hold doors and do other small polite things. It sounds selfish but I do that for me not you. I know you can get the door but I'm trying to be a good person, I'm not gonna let you hinder that.
I find it 75/25 getting a friendly response, or an unfriendly response (1 out of 4).
A few weeks back I was grocery shopping and a little kid looked at me, waved and said "Hi!"
I smiled, waved back and said "Hi." The mother turned around gave me a dirty look and then turned away an pushed the cart out of the isle. I guess I should have just given the kid the finger and called it a day?
Welcome to being a man, priviledged and powerful..... Nobody gives a shit about us most of the time.
I love to scroll through my wife's Facebook and see a whole bunch groups of barely functional mothers patting each other back because today they were "able to put the kids by 8", or "I'm feeding my kids cereal today, Lol", or "I'm so stressed out cause my husband has been gone for 3 days, can't wait for him to come back so I can take a break" (Mind you, this is the military, and the husband has been probably eating shit and getting yelled at for a week, nonstop, without breaks).
But the minute I say I'm stressed out, or need a break, I face the usual "Man up",
well, I'm sure testosterone like all chemicals affects everyone differently, but I was more laughing at the comparative lack of patience and the increased interest in direct answers
That's my point. Male fashion designers could be talked down to BECAUSE they're men. Boys/Men who cook for their families can get talked down to BECAUSE they're men. Fathers who are with their children in public get called out and treated like with comments such as "Stuck with the kids this time, huh?" implying that men aren't/can't be primary caretakers of their children BECAUSE they're men.
"Mansplaining" is as a legitimate term as "Womansplaining" is.
Okay, believe it or not I never downvoted you, in fact, I'll apologize for not upvoting you for the failure of upvoting you as per reddicate.
Secondly, unfortunately when a large group of people take over an original group, it changes the meaning of the group. "Feminism" is trash because of the people that commonly associate with it in this current day and age. The majority of femenists who actually take action in politics and contribute to societal changes do not work for equality. The outspoken ones do not care about, nor consider men's issues. That's why people don't like feminists now. Because people see the backhanded nature of third-wave feminists.
I don't like the term "Feminism" because despite what people will try to attempt to describe the term as, it will always carry the implication that either:
A. I represent and fight for women's issues and/or
B. Women are the (only) ones socially disadvantaged in situations across society
They're is a reason why men's rights groups currently don't spread the term "masculinism", and that's because by and large, the ones who take action are truly egalitarian in this age. That's my two cents anyway.
I'm sorry to tell you this but this simply is not true. People change their sexual preferences and identities all the time. I don't understand why this is a hard concept to drive.
Babies aren't predetermined as to what they want to fuck. The only thing I could say for sure is that the default is to fuck the opposing sex die to reproductive instinct. Nice ad hominem. You have no idea where I get my information from. I mean, I'll admit that I have certain biases as does anyone, but to claim that my understanding of gender is illegitimate without any explanation is well, illogical. I rest my case here. You've been a good sport for the most part in our two separate debates in this thread. I'll end it in a half-hearted note. Thanks for debating with me.
I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the cognitive dissonance that drives transitions to being a transgender woman is created by the desire to be more accepted and loved by society. If you denounce being a man you're celebrated as progressive and brought into a society of social warriors that will run around with you on their shoulders.
Do the opposite, and you're denouncing the feminist community and get treated like a traitor to humanity, like all the other men.
Or... maybe it’s being 7 years old, praying to Jesus in tears every night, praying that tomorrows that day i get to wake up and be a girl. Or same age, tucking in front of a mirror wondering why my vagina looks so fucking weird. Or after years of realizing that its only ever socially awkward and confusing when i act genuinely myself, to put on a show for those around me. A show that doesn’t stop until im 25 years old. Until I finally saying fuck it, NO MORE LIES, and take responsibility and accountability for my life.
Deciding to transition was not a “if you can’t beat them join them” type of decision it was the decision I made because of an inherent divide I’ve had my entire life. It had to do with me myself and i finally being honest with myself, and literally nothing else.
It's telling that you modified part of the statement you copied.
I said I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case often. I also didn't say anythi g about being cool. Being socially accepted by society is more than being cool, it's a requirement for a healthy mind, hence why people are seeking gender/sexuality/race acceptance. It seems that you're implying that when a man is unhappy about his position in society that he just "trying to be cool". Trans and LGBT people have been "in the closet" forever until now, which is terrible, but men and heterosexual people should be able to express their true selves as well, and it's them that are being left behind and being told they don't matter now.
You know nothing about me, or what I "truly" understand or "truly" am or what I "perceive", outside the words we've exchanged here.
Likewise, I know nothing about you, beyond the words you've provided.
Based soley on your actual words, I see you characterizing two ideas-- about why someone might transition-- as "either/or" explanations.
I've shown that those two explanations can overlap/ both can be true/ they aren't mutually-exclusive.
You haven't refuted my point. You have no basis for your assumptions about me. So put aside your wild guesses about me, personally. Instead, engage with the point I'm making; or revise your position.
From the pics, the majority of these men aren't passing - there isn't one I can tell wasn't a woman before. Their social experience is different than both typical men and women.

A young male, who is indoctrinated that masculinity = bad, could conclude
"I'm not bad, therefore, male is not who I "truly am".
Both the social stigma of masculinity and a sense of 'who I truly am' would be motives. No contradiction.

I didn’t see any titty scar photos. So I must be looking at something different. There isn’t one photo where you can’t tell they’re trannies.

My link is the post we’re writing in? I’ve no idea how to copy/paste a thread I’m in. I think it might be the same link. Scroll up.
There isn’t a pic in your own link where you can’t tell they’re trannies though.

I’m not disagreeing. I’m a total idiot.
That doesn’t mean they pass though. Sorry. I’m not sure why you’re offended but I’m not intimidated by you calling me names. Lol bitch
