My stbxw has done similar Things, part maybe loss of control, part maybe the idea of a future with you is now irreversibly changed, part maybe they didn’t think things through . Regardless, the person you thought you married is not the one you are divorcing and as painful as it is, you can’t look back you got to look forward. Day by day week by week it will get better aNd you will come to find some sort of peace.

My stbxw is crying a lot lately as well. We are finalizing our agreement and are still living together. She wanted it. I didn't and I still don't even though I know she is involved in an online situationship.

It is just so hard not to melt when I see her cry. She isn't doing it to be manipulative. She just says that it is so sad.

I feel like such a fool, but the process is almost over.

b) She wanted to look 'good' in front of the audience.

c) She is starting to realize that you are a goner.
d) Maybe all of the above.

Honestly? It doesn't matter.

Focus on yourself, create a routine (i.e. gym, house work, etc) and start building a new life.

Women who (usually) initiate a divorce are not stable to begin with. Mine started crying during our baby shower and wouldn't explain why other than "things were going to be tough". After our son was born she left me before he was even 3 months old.

I’d say you just experienced a full bout of second guessing and regret. She cried because she broke the marriage, broke the relationship and it can never be repaired. She will feel guilty for years. You could use it as a stick and beat her down or you can co-parent happily. The choice is yours.

My ex never respected me in the 13 years we were married. She would yell at me in front of her kids (2 boys from her previous marriage), bad mouthed me in front of them. When my sister graduated from high school, she bitched because I was going to the ceremony! I know I stayed way longer than one should, but I genuinely cared for her and her boys. Funny thing is, a few years back, I was on the computer looking at divorce lawyers, and she saw and said “oh big man, your thinking of divorce, please do it and I’ll gladly sign.” Fast forward to Jan 2023, I filed, had her served at home while I was in the living room watching tv, and she started crying like she was at a funeral. For the next week, it was “how can you do this to me” and her crying uncontrollably. I moved out and lived outta of motel for a month, then went to live with my sister for a while. But yeah, they cry bc they realize they were a bitch and no one will put up with their bullshit anymore.

The why is that feelings rule over logic. The why is because she is a resentful person and not a forgiving one.

The best thing you can do is rejoice that you don’t have to deal with her irresponsibility. Ignore her completely outside of coparenting responsibilities. In a year or two you’ll be so happy this happened.

Don’t read too far into it. It could be happy tears. It could just be the lifted weight of the fiasco being over. One of my close friends gave me sage advice that at the time was so simplistic I actually resented it for years

Women are entitled, emotional children generally incapable of taking responsibility. They act on emotion and then later cry when consequences happen. My STBX is the same way. I have to coparent with a child who is resisting being civil or cooperating.

Gosh, I am reading all this and it seems the woman is the one that wants the divorce in most cases. In my case, I am the one that is wanting to leave after 33 years of a non-loving, non-sexual relationship. I really believe she wants a 'daddy', not a husband, although she would disagree strongly.

My wife did the same. Cheated. Lied. Stayed out all times of night. Neglected the kids. Moved out.

When I’d finally had enough and filed, the story suddenly became what I was “doing to our family”. I was evil and heartless, unable to forgive, etc., etc. She still talks that nonsense to this day, many years later.

She’s completely incapable of taking responsibility for fucking up an absolutely perfect family.

OP I kinda dealt with this as well.

My ex wife and I got divorced because she was cheating and got pregnant by him because I didn't want a child yet.

When we signed papers she bawled and told me she still loved me and all of that.

The new guy she was with worked for fed ex and wasn't the best person.

My lawyer 74M said she was realizing she didn't get her cake and eat it too and that the grass might be greener and someone still has to mow it.

He also said don't let this scare you because shes only doing it since my family was wealthy and she had a good life with me.
