I believe the hardest part of FDS and being high value isn’t even subscribing ideologically, but becoming ruthless in your evaluation and ACTIONS of cutting men loose.

I think many of us here above a certain age can confidently say for a fact things never get better once they’ve soured, so you can be as “hv” as you want, but if you don’t have it in you or don’t develop the guts to DIP ASAP, then yes you will be doomed and all this time you spend on the internet hyping yourself into FDS will remain nothing but rhetoric.

Being single and dating forever, being perpetually looking (if you’re a romantic) isn’t being doomed, doomed is being in a dead end relationship or marriage for one, two, four or 10 years. I know the rules about forever girlfriending are clear so you probably won’t stick around for four. But what about one? And when you look back you know you should have dumped him at 5 months. Or date for 18 months knowing at 8 months your gut was telling you it’s not it.

Your question implies a binary: will I succeed in finding a hvm and having my happily ever after or am I doomed to not find him?

If only it were that easy. True “doom” is when you destine yourself to give up and settle for “could be worse” in order to not be alone.

True doom is if a man who was hv and made you happy, treated you right, turns on you eventually, you are unprepared or incapable of dumping him with the same - if not ease, of course, you’re human - but RESOLUTION as if you’d met him 3 weeks ago.

Being single is not the worst outcome.

Whenever I think of my “failed” relationships, personally I at least have the comfort that it was give or take a year, with each guy, seeing and doing new things, living a new life and new adventures. Id much rather that, much rather have a new boyfriend every year for the next twenty years, than have spent 5 years in a forever gf situation with some chump who’s no longer in the picture, or spend the next ten with a guy whose kids I bred and now rolls his eyes at me and makes me feel like the biggest drag on Earth.

Id rather live. Id rather fall in love, have fun, bond, have sex, see the world through someone new. Someone younger, older, different. Id rather start over 20x than beat a dead horse with the last scraps of my dignity, mental health and optimism.

Ultimately, doom will come if you can’t walk the talk bc you can GET a man but what will it be like? Walking the talk is hardest. Immerse yourself in FDS daily and eventually It’ll be easy to dump a guy after 4 dates or 2 months. Block and delete.

But what if it’s your boyfriend of 15 months who suddenly called you a stupid idiot for the first time in an argument? And what if you’re 32 when this happens and you feel you’re against the clock already?

What if it’s your husband of 5 years you caught “harmlessly” flirting with his long term ex over Facebook? Gd forbid these things happen to you, but if they do, this is when you need to have the balls and self esteem of steel to leave him.

Blocking OLD fuckboys saves your time, energy and protects you. But it’s just part of the bigger picture of flexing your self-preservation muscles for a scenario when your livelihood, human dignity or potentially your literal life are at stake.

If you can’t block and delete a guy who left you on read after lovebombing you, how you gonna dump your long term boyfriend when he messes up?

And If you can’t dump your boyfriend of 10 months who you just went public on social media, just introduced to your family (and the same week your most important ex got engaged 💀) because he called you a piece of shit in an argument, or he threw the phone at you and starting following random women on Instagram the whole weekend while you drove yourself sick with worry - are you gonna leave your cheating husband?

Therein lies the importance of learning to stick the hell up for yourself when stakes are lower - that you build the backbone and strength to act decisively DESPITE THE FEAR of the unknown - for when stakes are highest.

It’s scary. I know you can feel that because of your age, your baggage, your looks, your financial situation, YOUR WHATEVER, that you don’t have many options. Or any at all lol. Even though you may know you deserve better, you may think this is the only man you’re gonna get and he’s not that bad and there is no perfect man, right? I feel you, i really do.

And we’re not gonna tell you here that your Prince Charming hvm is out there, but if what you want is love, as least try (again) to find it. Do you want Love or do you just want A mAn? Fine, a MaN but this one? That’s what I thought.

Be brave, and TOUGHEN UP with these scrotes. Be ruthless in the pursuit of your own best interest even though you feel like an imposter - with time your character will grow to fill out those badass actions you’ve taken, and they will become 2nd nature. The philosophy(FDS), the actions (leaving and sticking up for yourself), and the genuine belief will sync inside of you eventually and there will be but one path. But only if you act and block/dump/leave him.

Today you may be a poor bitch whose boyfriend blocks her on instagram and she makes a fake account to stalk if he’s following someone. But tomorrow you can be a bitch that walks out of a restaurant because a guy called your hobby a waste of time - and not before ordering a doggy bag mid meal on his dime without breaking eye contact.

Today you may be a poor bitch who looks the other way when she knows her man is talking to women on social media, a bitch that keeps the peace. But tomorrow you are a bitch who lets the guy connect the dots (or not) of why your phone is out of service to him because you gave him one warning and one warning only.

Today you are a bitch crying at your boyfriend to not yell at you or not leave the house during an argument but tomorrow, you’ve had a divorce lawyer in silence for two months and got your ducks in a row and packed your shit and moved out while your husband was taking a “long lunch” with his wOrK WiFe for the second time in one week.

Today you are up all night checking the last WhatsApp online status of that guy who isn’t texting you anymore. Tomorrow you are JLo in that movie where she left her abusive husband.

Why these examples? Because Doom is living a spineless, gutless life where men walk all over you with impunity.

A happy ending is the opposite of doom: a gutsy life of sticking up for yourself whenever and to whatever extent is needed.

But the work starts small. With block and delete. With dumping him. With not negotiating with people who are bad faith actors. It starts with no letting society shame into staying in a failed relationship because of the fear or stigma of AnoThEr FaILeD ReLaTIoNsHiP. And all these guts you build, will come in handy in every aspect of your life and that is truth. But if you can’t rely on yourself to protect yourself in the small it will take a miracle for your to act decisively in the big and the terrible. Now, do you want to rely on a miracle or do you want to rely on yourself?

I am a big romantic and I love dating. FDS doesn’t mean you’ll be alone unless you find that perfect hvm, it means you don’t stick around when any man - whether two dates, two years or two kids in - tries to fuck with you.

FDS despite its name, is far more than a dating formula, it’s a philosophy of personal integrity where you don’t let anybody fuck with you. Especially when it’s the patriarchy and very especially when it’s individual men who you have blessed with your trust and the opportunity to be in just, loving, long-lasting relationship with you. You, someone who is fair-dealing, nice, sincere, and caring.

Doom, is when you live a life where people can fuck with you and get away with it, or where they try to fuck with you and you try to plead with them to not go so hard on you instead of grabbing your purse/Netflix password/your kids/your half of everything and fucking off.

Doom is staying where you know you aren’t wanted, but tolerated. And sometimes barely.

If you want the romance and the fun and enjoyment and excitement of dating by all means do so, but fire and replace men as needed. And as swiftly as needed. So you technically won’t be alone, but your rotation will be quick and agile because you chuck them as soon as they mess up. But I say, better to date 4 men in a year and toss each at 3 months when he blows it, than let the same one man make a fool out of you for 365 days.

That way you enjoyed four🤵🏻‍♂️🤵🏽‍♂️🤵🏿‍♂️🤵🏼‍♂️ men on their ✨best behavior✨, instead of one who was good for 1-3 months, then from 3-6 got comfortable, 6-9 was mediocre and 9-12 just the worst. See how much sense this makes when I put it like this lol same amount of time but all profit .

If you current man is giving you the silent treatment or being an abusive jerk, don’t tell yourself “oh but he was so great before I want to get back to that” or start googling yourself crazy over “is he a narc?” Instead tell yourself “If he’s a narc, then I could be getting lovebombed to the nines by another narc right now” so might as well.

Point is, while you seek that HVM, and entertain men during that search, at least entertain them when they’re on their best behavior only. Why would you put up with anything else? The only doom is settling and that IS in your control.

Doom is feeling doomed if you never find a life partner. Having money and being unmarried and living alone is so much fun too, if you’re young and havent had the opportunity to do it, you can’t imagine how pleasant, interesting, and stress free it is. It’s peak lifestyle if you ask me. it’s certainly not lonely or depressing or hollow, it’s actually a freaking blast. Regardless of whether there’s no one to date at any given time.

I think yes some will, but we’re genuinely ok with that. Standards are standards and I’m not prepared to lower them or make exceptions..

Lots of us already have very fulfilling lives/ are working towards that, and once you accept that yes maybe I won’t meet someone who meets my requirements it’s actually quite freeing.

I personally feel so relieved and less stressed now than ever before. It’s like a weight has been lifted.

I don't feel doomed at all, but that's because I play the tape till the end now. When I meet someone with red flags, I just imagine what would happen, if I'd date and have a relationship with them. I've been down that road before, so I can do this all day long in excruciating detail. By the end my reaction is "no thanks, I'm good".

The Golden Girls series was very similar. The ladies often joked about being desperate, but when things got serious with a man, they always got cold feet and took a closer look at the guy. If he wasn't high value and true love, the reaction was invariably "thanks but no thanks". Very realistic portrayal of mature women's dating lives (unlike Sex and the City) and still relevant today.

Essentially the question is has FDS has harmed you by opening your eyes to the truth because men are going to treat women like conveniences regardless. My late husband was a HVM. I dated a few HVM before him (in the days of my glorious youth when I wasn’t ready to settle down lol). I feel that pairing with a HVM is partly a numbers game, and partly luck. You increase your chances of meeting a HVM by immediately cutting away LVM, and men who don’t match your criteria.

This is what it looked like for me: I don’t expect a man to be the richest in the room (dated that. A high income and padded bank account doesn’t preclude him from being an inconsiderate, hypocritical piece of sh-t), but I do expect him to be able to take care of himself financially and personally. Divorced, or single dads, need not apply. Insulting me led to an immediate end to the date (no, it’s not a joke to ridicule my desk job, or my hobbies. And I don’t need to relax/stop being so sensitive/learn to take a joke. I have no problem attracting men’s attention, and even if I did? I would rather be single and lonely than with a scrote who makes me feel like like sh-t) Badmouth an ex? Nope.

I've agreed with this quote for a while, but it was only when I really incorporated it into my mindset that I felt happy being single.

Also, OP, don't forget: nothing lasts forever. Even if you married the perfect HVM, you could still lose him to disease, accident, violence...or just old age -- and then you'd end up alone anyway. One way or another, our happiness requires us to be OK with being unpartnered.

Don’t get me wrong, I love great sex and the connection that comes with it. BUT….. being single after being married to low value men is almost right up there with good sex. And if there is heartbreak while single, I don’t have to look at the mother fucker that broke my heart day in and day out. Being married to a man that breaks your heart and puts in no effort? You have to live with him until you decide not to and the breakup is expensive. It’s a struggle every single day to hang on to your own sense of joy when you are in this type of marriage.

Keep your chin up and build a life you want to actually live. Become financially stable, learn new skills, get a really good hobby, and work on yourself physically and emotionally. The man will be something that you add later on.

This is why even pre-FDS I had found myself wondering if I liked males before when I was younger because I just was naive to how unappealing they are or if it was compulsory heterosexuality. The older I get the more rare it has become for me to have any interest in dating any man. It’s been a couple years now since I was last interested in one.

At this point I’m hoping I can find a nice lady to settle down with. Failing that, I want to be able to be content to be alone forever. I’ve given up on men. Regardless of whether it was comphet or naivety before, the end result is the same: I’m not finding men who appeal to me.

This sub is, besides my daughter, a place where I come to read the perspectives of sane women. Having grown up in a family that still blatantly values males over females, I had a long, slow climb out of the well of low self-esteem. Finally, a few years ago, I left my 26 year long marriage to someone who would generously be called a scrote here on FDS. He is some variation of pathological liar, skilled manipulator, and desirous of power. It took me a very long time to see and to accept what he is, and to value my freedom and self-respect appropriately. Since I left him, most of my age peer women relatives seem to look upon me alternately as either a threat or an object of pity. Many of my long-married friends also seem to look at me in this way. According to their conventional wisdom, it seems as if I am as you say... doomed. Doomed to be alone, I think? But according to me, leaving him was how I escaped that fate. I am the happiest and most at peace I have ever been in my life. I can live authentically and feel no need to deny reality or excuse disrespect. So, I no longer fit in my own family. I have been told that I am "not right in the head," if you can imagine, by my own sister. That I have "changed," and am "too blunt", and "confrontational" when I call out BS. So, if by "doomed" you mean "fully committed to my own peace and well-being," then heck yes, I am doomed af. I am so doomed, and I finally feel that I am living right.

First, I wouldn’t qualify being single neither as being “alone” or “doomed”. Lowering your standards just to be in a relationship is what I would qualify as being doomed. But at what I think you’re getting at, the # of HVW does significantly outweigh the #’s of HVM so in that respect, if you are strictly heterosexual & looking to be w/someone on the same level, it’s likely you won’t end up w/a colloquial “life partner”. That doesn’t mean your life won’t be fulfilling or happy.

Which is why a true HVW will never be “doomed” b/c she knows that having a life partnership w/a man isn’t a necessity. JMHO.

I was just telling my cousin that getting married, as a millennial woman, at this point seems unrealistic. Might just end up getting a sperm donor so I can have my children and just wait until I meet my life partner.. cause I don’t want to rush into it out of desperation for a guy that’s not worth it. One of life's hardest lessons is that you can do everything right and still not win.

Nowhere is this more true than relationships.

This is why the core of dating strategy for women, in my opinion, must be building a self-directed and self-sufficient life that does not require a man. Because ultimately the majority of women will not have the option of choosing between a good partner and the single life...instead, their choice will be between staying single or settling for a man who is not a worthy mate.

Moving to a big city massive improved my dating choices & helped me see what’s available to me

So did travelling- in some countries men were paying my bill when I wasn’t even on a date with them, just talking or they were offering me some high end date really fast

Whereas theres a lot of men in my country who would wince and moan at paying for a Diet Coke :/

Austria for example, I never got catcalled there and they were better dressed.

Italy - I found way more men attractive there. More hunky men with a thick head of hair.

In some countries ppl go crazy just cos of my accent or certain features. Depends where I go …but that helps lol . It’s like the halo effect

Start visiting new cities on weekend trips and take note of the more wealthier, well educated areas - spas, health clubs, fancy hotel bars, galleries, fancy cafes

Even in rural areas, there’s going to be a wealthier area nearby where the men will at least be better educated and will pay for dates

The reality is the better men are going to be in wealthier areas . And also it takes the hassle out bc they’re concentrated in one place- so they can visibly see their competition. And the woman tend to be holding the bar higher.

So work on your looks, your finances, and always keep it classy. Make a goal of who you want to become. And make sure you put your happiness first bc these LVM just ruin all that hard work

i definitely think i’m gonna be alone forever. it takes some getting used to coming to that conclusion because i want to me married and a mom so bad. but the way i see it, i’d rather be single forever than to put up with a man’s bullshit just so i can say i have a man.

i’m super pessimistic anyway so i really don’t think i’ll ever find a man who i think i could spend a happy lifetime with, and if that never happens, it just never happens. but i certainly won’t settle and potentially compromise my peace for the sake of being able to say i’m a wife

I had to force myself so many time to give them chances. I always ended up hating those men. The men I liked were dogs too, but I spent so much time thinking they would be good for me and to me. A huge part of destiny is what you make of it - so if you aren't actively looking for relationship and hugely inclined to choose singlehood forever - that may be very well your destiny. But if you are hugely inclined to want to be in a relationship, than perhaps not.

Keep on dating, keep on being open to new people, keep being honest that you do want to find a good man when people asks, keep joining activities and communities that allows you to meet even more people. Hell perhaps tell your parents/siblings/extended family and let them help you scout suitable candidate (if you trust them).

OLD is horrible post covid though, so I believe the old route is better - slower yes, but you aren't as exhausted and jaded, and you get the extra helping hand in evaluating the man.

But do it like a side project that you work on slowly but consistently rather that putting alll your attention on it. Your main priority should always be yourself.

Honestly, after my dating experiences and reading about the experiences of others, I’m alright with staying single. I do not want to risk my own happiness and lower my standards for some guy, just so I can obtain the title of, “in a relationship.” I definitely don’t want to feel responsible for taking care of a man-child and his “mantrums.” I also would probably earn more money, and after my last relationship, I learned that men will resent you for earning more money. So, if I date, I’ll only be interested in HV men who earn roughly the same or more than me. But for now, I’m very happy staying single.

I am attracted to both sexes, so I have a feeling that if I'm ever going to find true love and life partnership, there's a higher chance of finding that with another woman rather than with a man. And I'll be fine with that, provided that she is also HV and I can vet her enough to feel that she can be my wife.

I feel really badly for strictly heterosexual women, because you either do find the very rare HV man and live happily ever, or you remain single (still happily ever after!), because we as women cannot afford to compromise or be blinded by red flags at all. If it's not fuck yes, it's a hell no, always.

Wrt to wanting children, I've spoken with family and friends about this a lot and they are all in support of me going to the sperm donor route and become a single mother by choice, and just happily date women exclusively if I'm not in a good area that has a lot of HV men enough to warrant to dating both sexes. Sadly, as another poster stated here, all corners of the world has mostly LVM and just a bit of single HVM, no matter what type of place it is.

I have heard that a lot of single straight women also become single mothers by choice and live with other single mothers to share household upkeep and child rearing together, and casually date men on the side while knowing that they probably won't find a future husband. They have amazing careers and a full life to keep them happy and satisfied anyway, so it's not a big deal to them. Maybe something that straight women here can look into, if they do want kids but can't find an HVM?

The women who choose to be in relationships that don’t serve them are the one’s who are doomed. If you don’t currently have a have a partner and you want sex, you can always get a fwb. I dont think "doomed" is the right word to describe a HVW remaining single... single woman have better health outcomes, longer life expectancies, and lower rates of anxiety and depression compared to our married counterparts. The "doom" is a lie sold to us by men to scare us into lowering our standards to be with them.

You're only 23 OP, plenty of time to meet plenty of people, keep your standards high, and expand your social circle. I live in a big city (London) and I meet new people all the time. Think about where you will find the HVM, i.e. Not in a dead end town where there are only dead end jobs. You could meet a HVM at 30, you could meet them at 50. Either is better than meeting a LVM at 25, getting married, having kids, then being tied to him forever.
