Did you hire him through a company? If so I would report the unprofessional behaviour and request a refund/to switch trainer. If he's a private trainer I don't know if there's anything that can be done sadly. Don't let him project the awkwardness onto you, it is him who should feel embarrased here.

That is wildly unprofessional. If I was a gym owner and one of my trainers asked the customers for money unrelated to payment for their services I'd fire them in a heartbeat. He's going to lose customers and therefore have even less money doing this crap.

I've learner to always pay only for one month first and then decide if it's worth it. I dumped my trainer after two months because he was doing something similar and I lost interest.

Why he asked you?

One, you obviously have money. Enough to prepay for training. He smells money.

Two, he’s already tapped out all his friends, family, and other associates.

He’s a bad risk. Obviously don’t lend to him. If he starts flaking on you on the training, you might take him to small claims, but he probably has no assets to satisfy his debt.

Consider this a lesson learned.

Definitely don't let him borrow, he's highly unlikely to pay you back. It's unfortunate he took this route but I don't think you can continue personal training either. He's probably gonna either ask again about money or it'll be awkward/tension because you declined.

If you can get a refund and report him, do so. If not, see if there's a man in your life who can take over the rest of your sessions and maybe pay you so you can recoup some money.

You have several ways to go about this:

Like another poster said, reply back that “You sent this text to the wrong number” while continuing to show up to your training as if nothing happened and the second your 6 months is up, report, report, REPORT him to every single damn outlet you can think of. Screenshot the text and plaster it all over social media with links to his social media and his real name.
Tell him politely that you already dropped 6 months worth of cash on training and no longer have any money. Continue with your sessions then see #1.
Call him out for asking to borrow money, remind him that this is a business situation and to keep this strictly professional. Continue with your sessions then see #1.
The nuclear option: TEXT HIM— THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!!— that you do not wish to continue your professional association for 6 months of personal training and demand a refund— he won’t have the money but that’s not point, the point is to establish proof and a paper trail to sue him in small claims court. If you have a written contract, that’s excellent. If you didn’t have written proof of a contract, that text message I had you send is NOW written proof and legally admissible in court, along with all other correspondences and proof of that 6 month payment. Sue the fuck out of him in small claims court. You’ll win a judgment, then you go about having a Warden seize anything and everything of his to sell at auction to make good on the judgement, that includes a car, houses, electronics including his Xbox, TV, PlayStation, iPhone, his sneaker collection, etc etc, with his bank accounts and wherever he’s been getting his money from like Venmo or PayPal. Judgments stand for 10-20 years depending on your state. He might not have money now but in 10-20 years when he’s married a pickmeisha with a house/car/job, you get to pop out of the woodwork and seize all that shit too WITH MARKET INTEREST AND FEES! 😃🥳😂

Remember to blast him out on all social media with screenshots of him asking you for money and link back to his social media and real name. Warn other women about this scumbag grifting scrote. The internet always keep receipts so whenever anyone, including potential employers, potential clients and possible girlfriends, google his name, up pops his past scumbaggery! Ahaha! He won’t get that job/client/girlfriend. The internet never forgets. 👍

That’s REALLY weird and unprofessional. Are you able to get a refund? I would always go with a female trainer. I find male personal trainers to be some of the biggest LVM’s around.

Ew. This is a common scam unfortunately. Being a trainer is a good sugar baby job for young men. They have access to women who can afford to pay upfront and often lonely wives willing to do other things. I’m an attorney and I worked a very similar case once, once the lady paid upfront the whole mood changed. They’ll ask for a personal loan, an “investment”, or your time, if not all three. They’ll do this to multiple women at once. It is difficult, time consuming, and expensive to get your money back- if you even can. Be careful ladies!

So, you say he is an excellent trainer, but then in the next sentence you say he is always late? Were you able to have a trial period with him? I would not continue sessions with him. He is unreliable, bad with money and has no sense of professional boundaries. The most I have paid for a batch of sessions is one month upfront. I would see if I can get your money back and sever all ties.

And here is a lesson: if a guy is persistently late for prebooked appointments, he is almost always trying to test your boundaries. Do not let it slide.

A scrote asked me for $2000 the day after we met at a casino, he wanted to gamble on several sports. He was an ex felon lawyer with a huge gambling addiction. I wouldn’t respond to his text and I’d just continue going to the sessions you’ve paid for without acting like anything has changed tbh. If he asks in person (which he’d probably feel too ashamed to ever do), just say you can’t. What’s he honestly gonna do? Please correct me if I’m being naive though!

Ideally, you’d be able to get your money back but seeing that this is a private trainer, I’m not sure if that’d be possible.

I’m not sure how great this advice is, but since he’s a private instructor and you already paid for 6 months, it’s an idea.

Don’t respond to the text. Delete it and pretend you never got it. At the next session, make up some money problems and mention them. Do this as early as possible in the session, before he has time to mention his text and/or ask you for money again. Hell, maybe even ask HIM to borrow money! If he does mention his text to you, tell him you never got it but as you mentioned earlier you have problems of your own.

Or, you could ask for your advance back stating your own money problems. This is unlikely to happen, but it still impresses upon him you aren’t a good candidate to ask for money if that’s what he was really after, and makes his request seem (even more) obviously ridiculous. If he does for some miraculous reason give you your advance back well that’s fantastic and you can cut and run to find a woman to train you. Either way the onus is off of you.

Ahahahha. Oh man. My ex did this. I was such an idiot, I gave him an AU credit card on one of my lines. With a $2800 limit he racked it up to about $2500 every month. Had no fucking clue how credit worked and would refer to ‘his’ credit card as “I still have almost three grand.” The fuck you do mister.
