How do you feel about cold approaching?

It seems like many Redditors on threads like dating advice are totally against it, even if it’s respectful, short and considerate. They only think it’s okay for a guy to approach a girl if the girl makes an obvious signal first.

What’s never mentioned in these conversations is that many girls (and sometimes guys) when finding a stranger attractive, look very cold and behave very disinterested. Sometimes it’s butterflies and other times it’s trying to play it cool.

Obviously there’s a risk of polite rejection, so it’s a numbers game, but it seems more fruitful than the vicious loop of dating apps and Reddit advice.

I also think cold approaching can be prosperous because Redditors seem to only believe in social / group / community settings… such as:

“Through work?”

\\- well some people are self employed / cannot socialise on duty / work far away / don’t want to date colleagues or clients

“Through hobbies and things you like?”

\\- Not all hobbies and interests have a female demographic / some are attracted to people with different interests”

“Through fitness? Gym? Classes?”

\\- sometimes its not worth jeopardise somewhere you go religiously to focus or destress?

“Through church?”

\\- what about those who are not religious?

“Through bars?”

\\- what about those who don’t drink?

“Through friends?”

\\- what about those who are new to town and have no/low friends?

So on and so on…

I think it’s more productive to shoot my shot respectfully at the risk of being politely being turned down…

Let me know what you think?
