If you're male, you have to make the first move. All talks of equality aside, you're the one who has to ask the women out, initiate the kiss, bring up the topic of sex, attempt seduction; not an easy thing to do for most people. It's very easy to misread signals and come across as creepy.

If you're female, you're left wondering if the guy's dangerous. Sure, most of the time they're just being clumsy, but he might not be, and making a mistake can be lethal. Then there's just not going anywhere without being hit on, guys being supportive only because she expect something.
