Because the guys in relationships are more likely to be the top guys who have an easier time getting sex in general (a selection bias) which combined with womens massive problems with preselection means it actually gets easier for them to get more sex from other women when they are in a relationship.

A few points have to be made about the statistics used. Firstly, provided all the numbers are true (I highly doubt it but arguing that would get us nowhere), they still don’t tell the whole story. If I date 50 women and cheat on all of them and they’re all surveyed, it would all lead back to me (1 man) but would massively skew the survey. Add in the fact that cheaters are incredibly likely to cheat again and you have further proof of that idea, that it’s a lot of the same people. The same is true for divorces, once you’re divorced once you’re significantly more likely to get divorced again, which skews the data.

In the article, it says that men aged 50 and up are most likely to cheat. It said that they’re more likely to cheat at that age, and that men are less likely to cheat at 18-24 by 2.9%. Even though I don’t buy the “it’s hard for the average man to get into a relationship” idea, the data isn’t showing anything to disprove that. The men complaining about not having a girlfriend are most likely to be in that age range.

It's in our music videos, on our billboards, plastered all over social media by celebrities, it's in nearly every piece of media our society consumes. Little girls eat this shit up and it has profound implications for the future.

The biggest problem is the current cultural trajectory is not sustainable, it's immensely destabilizing as it leads to lower birth rates, lower marriage rates, higher divorce rates, and a much higher amount of men who will never find a lifelong wife.

Say there are 10 men, 1 gets into a relationship and cheats, and the other 9 stay single. Say there are also 10 women: 1 is in a relationship with the man, and of the other 9 single women, at least one of them cheats with the man in the relationship. 100% of men in relationships cheat, and 100% of cheaters are men (not sure what terminology to use for the woman he's cheating with, minor point). At the same time, 90% of men don't get into a relationship.

I chose these numbers to illustrate the effect; real life data is just a less extreme version.

Bonus: Perhaps all of the single women cheat with the man in the relationship. That would also make 90% of women people who participate in cheating.

Anecdotally if you talk to relationship counselors, they'll tell you that they see no difference in their practice.

Women find only a small % of men attractive, and generally need some type of context to want to fuck in the first place.

Men cheat more because the bar for who they're sexually attracted to is lower, and women are more risk-averse on average. Women also have lower sex drives on average, don't orgasm from hookups on average, so the "bar" is higher for cheating to be appealing in the first place.

Also, guys get an extra "ego boost" if they can cheat. Being desired sexually by women means you've got something going for you. Being desired sexually by men means it's a Tuesday.

First of all, I don't believe men cheat WAY more than women do. Latest stats are women have pulled pretty much even with men, within MoEs. Your own article points that out. I personally think it's more like 30% for men and probably 35 to 40% for women, simply because I think men and women are both lying about this even when asked anonymously.

The men who do cheat, do so because they want some on the side and because their relationship is shitty. Because there's opportunity. Because they can.

Most men don't cheat, because they can't. They're not attractive enough to cheat. Or they don't have the money to pay hookers.

Couple of reasons that have to do with biology, imperatives and hormones. Women don't cheat as often because cheating is risky and women are more risk-averse. Beyond a certain point, women both need and want a partner to enter into old age with. Men may want but don't objectively need this, although the benefits of doing so are similar or the same.
