Schopenhauer hates existence itself if you've read his work. It is very depressing stuff. Why would his opinion of humans be different and why is that now all men's views for all time. Perhaps, but he seems like one of those probably autistic philosophers who had extremely set routines and hated to deviate from them. Like, after writing pessimistic philosophy all morning he practiced the flute for an hour at noon every day without fail. People could set there watches by the appearance of Kant on his daily walk at the same time each day, rain or shine. I think these guys were probably asexual rather than incels. But I don't know. Perhaps your theory is the true one.

Schopenhauer is a well-known curmudgeon. His own mom didn't like him. He was very pessimistic. Besides, the red/black pills argue that looks get you women, not being a "good" man, so misogyny would have nothing to do with it.

The greatest force attracting young men to the pill ideologies is the stark realization, usually in high school, that "goodness" doesn't get you laid. Well, there will always be men that resent women no matter what. This doesn’t mean in general that men do just because you feel that way. A decent number of women easily feel like men resent them even when they don't.

Because unless a man is basically a pushover for a woman, then he is considered resentful if he puts his foot down on women and doesn’t allow certain behavior. Which isn’t really the case, that just means a man has respect for himself if anything.

The snippet this belongs to is one of Schopenhauer’s many essays, extremely pessimistic, cutting, and brutal.

I’ve read most of them, I love them. He was a self admitted pessimist, and likely an asexual.

He simply didn’t have attraction to women, and saw them without the filter of lust. He resented the women are wonderful effect and went full on in the other direction. He described them as he saw them, since he wasn’t attracted, he didn’t see the value in women’s bodies since in his eyes, they didn’t have any.

Do I agree with him? Absolutely not in this case. I think women are the most physically beautiful thing in the world. Most straight men do, they’re why we do anything in this world.

He was/isn’t representative of “men” more than Einstein was representative of the average humans intellect.

Honestly a lot of his criticism is spot on. I don't know why it's characterized as misogyny. He is to the male gender what feminist theorists are to women. A firebrand, abrasive, exaggerating to make points, but containing many kernels of truth that his more hormonally driven or sexually normative peers largely ignored or glossed over.

I think it's more accurate to say men and women have coexisted uncomfortably for most of history, that men and women collectively have never been entirely morally pure in our behaviors towards the other, and intellectuals on either side of the divide have routinely noticed this and analyzed/critiqued it, sometimes adding hyperbole or literary license to make a point. If you look through literature you can find plenty of women (at times where there were female authors anyway) criticizing men with the same broad brush strokes.

I think that married or long-term partnered men who respect their wives/partners can get along well with women. I think that the problem with single men and women acting as friends is that there is always that denial of pleasure resentment that men have when a given woman, even one who is his friend, isn’t attracted to him. I think that this kind of thing disappears quite a bit when a man is happily married or partnered, although some are still just bad people who will always want more even when in a sexually satisfactory relationship.

In regards to Schopenhauer, I believe that he was a lifelong bachelor who pursued teenagers and likely was a consumer of prostitutes, so it’s understandable why he was so bitter towards women since he does not seem to have really tried to pursue the more conventional relationships that I am advocating.

This is a big reason why I am for socially enforced monogamy and against casual sex. A society that freely exercises casual sex will invariably cause resentment between the genders.
