Look, as a man, there are only 2 things I actually cannot do without a woman: have sex and have children. Therefore, the primary parameters men evaluate women on are:

The ability to generate sexual desire
The ability to have healthy children
The energy needed for the dreadful first 2-3 years of the child's life.

Guess what, all of these peak in the 20s.

For the RMV side, there also is going to be the ability to have a healthy relationship — i.e.

Not being jaded due to having been burned by men
Not longing for an ex (alpha widows ftw!)
Not being overly materialistic and having an insane list of demands
The ability to actually fall in love with a man.

These also have a higher chance of appearing in younger women.

Of course, there are also age-independent parameters, like having a healthy family background, but they are not relevant for this discussion.

Neither men or women get better with age if we are talking about sexual attractiveness which is what people even the RP guy although they are more likely to believe the men age like fine wine stuff. If you're talking about their ability to build a career or things to that effect then sure, they don't peak in their 20s. But insofar as being seen as optimal candidates for men to produce healthy offspring with, yeah they do.

That argument just flips the same mistake the other side makes. It takes one part of reality and tries to stretch it into the whole picture.Saying women don’t peak in their 20s ignores what actually drives attraction. Youth, fertility signals, and physical attractiveness still matter. Society changing priorities does not override that. Men did not suddenly stop responding to those things.The “women get better with age” point only works for certain traits like maturity, stability, and life experience. Those can improve.

That does not mean overall desirability keeps rising. You are mixing different traits and pretending they move together. They don’t.The divorce point is also overstated. Yes, early marriages had pressure. That does not prove later is always better or that waiting keeps increasing outcomes forever. It just shows one extreme had issues. So the real answer is simple. Women do not fall off a cliff after their 20s, but pretending there is no peak tied to youth and attraction is just as off. You are replacing one extreme with another instead of dealing with how it actually works.

Most people peak in their 20’s physically and that’s ok. After 30 you’re mostly just maintaining your appearance. You objectively have more collagen, more youthfulness, and able to snap back quicker all in your 20’s compared to 30’s onwards.

Most average people (men and women) peak in terms of looks in their 20s. Attractive people who take care of themselves tend to plateau in their 30s (neither improve nor lose their looks), and some folks who were either obese in their 20s or have a lot more money (and the desire to improve their appearance) do peak in their 30s instead.

But most gain some weight, men lose hair, people are more focused on their families and careers than looks (and that’s okay). A decline is inevitable in one’s 40s unless you’re an exceptionally attractive actor whose job it is to maintain their looks.

The phrase “men age like wine,” is more accurate than people realize — most wine ages badly. Only fine wine stored properly ages well. The idea that men peak any more than a few years later than women is basically an apex fallacy.

But looks and being attractive to the opposite sex, of course, are not everything. General “prime of life” for both men and women tends to be around 25-50, but is highly variable depending on the person’s life circumstances. Most older people I’ve spoken to would love to be 30 or 40 again, but 20s, not so much. Then you have the “peaked in high school” people who are highly nostalgic about their childhoods/teen years, which is generally regarded as a bit sad, but does happen.

Pretty much everyone who takes care of themselves peaks at 26. Sure, people who didn’t take care of themselves before can look 100X better in their 30’s and 40’s than they ever did in their 20’s, but they would have looked even better throughout their 20’s had they put in the effort back then. This goes for men and women IDC what anyone says 😂 I’m 28 and find myself already thinking 21-24 year old guys look better. My mom is 52 and thinks the 20 year old neighbor next to her house is Fine.. 😂

When most people talk about a "peak" they usually mean physically or in attractiveness. You seem to be using some subjective alternative description of peaking where it's based on divorce rates or something of that nature? I'm not entirely sure really. I think when people say "peak," it's really just referring to the age where they are typically most attractive. It's not necessarily a fixed range.

Someone can be most attractive in their 20s if they've maybe had kids and let themselves go since then.

Someone can be most attractive in their 30s or even 40s if they've spent their early adulthood obese and then lose weight later on.

Anyway, it's really just a silly insult I often see men hurl at older attractive women they can't fuck.

Depends on how you measure "peak". Normally people mean peak in terms of sexual attractiveness, and that is true as demonstrated by studies. It doesn't mean only girls on their 20s have sex, it just means that if given the choice, most men find girls of this age most sexually attractive.

What one should do personally in this world is highly contextual. However, at a population level, women having kids (if they even have them) in their mid-to-late 30s IS a problem for various reasons. Maybe we have created conditions where it is better to pair later for some reasons, but the biology remains what it is, even with fertility technologies.

It's also probably better if generations are closer to 20 years apart than 40. For grandparents to be younger, etc.

I think you're wrong because the peak people are talking about is in reference to how the different (heterosexual) genders assign mate value. While recent research suggests that women underreport how much physical appearance matters to them and men underreport how much wealth matters to them, it is still the case that men place a significantly greater priority on physical appearance than other aspects.

The argument then goes that since much of a woman's mate value is predicated on their appearance (on average women are considered most attractive in their early twenties), then their mate value declines with age largely due to their decline in appearance in ways that those other traits don't exactly fully compensate for.

While I think these studies typically ignore things like compatibility (which I sort of feel like is decisive), I also think your argument sucks.

That argument dodges what peak usually means. Peak is not about who feels more mature or healed at 32. It is about dating market demand, options, and leverage. In that sense, women usually do peak younger.

Younger women still get more attention, more approaches, and more offers from a wider range of men. Maturity can improve with age, sure, but that does not mean dating value rises the same way. Personal growth and market value are not the same thing.

If you want 2-3 kids it’s best to get at least engaged in your 20s. If you don’t then it doesn’t really matter.

Looks-wise, most people peak in their twenties, some in their thirties.

Intellectually? Absolutely not. Most people peak in their thirties and forties in that regard.

Most people are neutral in looks in their twenties and some are noticeably unattractive, but that doesn't mean that they didn't peak.

Women are turned off by men that look young. I have to date women younger than me, women my age (33) look like garbage, tons of wrinkles, they just straight up look older than me.

They aren't attracted to me either. Subconsciously I believe they see me like how 30 year old women see 25 year old men. Most women want to date a man the same age as them or older, so if you look prettier/younger than then, they do not want you

They would rather be with some fat balding 33 year old, than a guy like me who is muscular, fit, and has a youthful appearance like Justin Beiber

Most developed nations have birth rates under replacement and having children isn’t in the top 10 of priorities for most young women.

Waiting to get into LTRs leads to higher rates of happiness and more stable relationships.

The second assertion is a fleetingly temporary condition which only lasts until your society doesn’t have enough productive young people to sustain the older population due to the first assertion.

Older women are less fit for healthy long term relationships. More set in their ways, their character is more rigid, they are more bitter and jaded and have more unresolved issues due to past failed relationships and short term flings.

But even hypothetically they were more mature and more prepared for healthy relationships, that wouldn't change much. Those things can't make up for diminished physical attractiveness. Beauty is what men put most of their efforts to acquire. Most men end up with the most beautiful woman they could get at the point when they paired up. Now of course you might make the case that older men are also less physically attractive, which is true. But men are also more willing to leverage status and money, if they have any, in order to date a younger/hotter woman. That's been true since the dawn time.

People think growing old with a person you met when they were young and attractive and starting from scratch with an older less attractive person is the same thing. They are not even remotely close.
