Should women who want better dating results work on being more appealing to the sorts of men they want?

This issue sparked some lively debate in a tangent under another post, so I thought it would be interesting to have its own dedicated discussion.

Let's define "dating results" to mean what the vast majority of women want, namely, the ability to attain investment and commitment from [their idea of] quality men.

And note that I mean "appealing" in a broad sense, covering every facet a man they'd want is likely to care about. It's not a codeword for "hot" even though that's part of it.

I anticipate a lot of the "yes" camp will think this is too obvious to be worth asking, and I would have too, until I saw it generate a ton of pushback in the other thread. With that said, even though I'm firmly on one side of this issue, I did my best to frame the question in the most fair/neutral way I could.
