I'd pick neither.

Traits I would look for: no health issues (or mild ones), alright eyesight (doesn't need to be perfect), healthy diet and body type (doesn't mean body builder or super fit, just HEALTHY. Not under or overweight), good interpersonal skills, well-adjusted and intelligent, no mental illness, and more than anything? A good personality, a kind heart, etc.

What doesn't matter: HEIGHT. Height DOESN'T MATTER FFS, what matters is the health of the potential child.

Difficult choice. In reality, I would probably stay childless or adopt or foster in the scenario, because I don’t know their families’ health history. If both of them are equally healthy, I would choose b. If one of them is more healthy than the other, I would choose that. To be honest, neither of them seemed like a good choice.

I have a big problem with this:

I firmly believe that a child has the right to know. I couldn’t lie to them, and I think keeping their background as a secret would be unfair. My great-great-grandfather was sold as a child, and while this wouldn’t be the same thing, not knowing their roots was a big issue for my grandfather and his father. Surprisingly many attributes are inherited and being able to see and meet people who look like you and have similar gestures is an experience like no other.

I have to note that people don’t see glasses as genetically inferior. I can understand how one may see it that way but in general no one cares. It’s not considered a bad thing. Neither is being “skinny fat”. As long as you’re skinny you have a privilege over being fat even if your skinny-hood is not athletic. Also, not rebelling is something I consider a negative trait. Someone who never rebels is not desirable. At least not to me. I want my children to have some form of rebellious spirit.

The fact person B never rebelled is the worst thing about him.

I would pick person B but in my household they are gonna learn to not be a doormat. The world we live in, you simply cannot be. You have to learn the time and place to buck authority or stand up for yourself.

Want to clarify first that I'm 37 years old and have been staunchly childfree my entire life. So this is even more purely hypothetical because pregnancy = horrifying.

I'd choose person B. If there's even a slight chance my son or daughter could inherit a personality disorder or psychopathic tendencies, I'm staying far, far away from that shit. Life is already hard enough without being born lacking empathy and not forming normal relationships/social bonds.

I would never need one since I don't want kids. And the factors you described are pretty much irrelevant, more important factors would be that the sperm donor doesn't have the same genetic risk factors as you. For example if you're trying to find a sperm donor and you have 2 grandparents that died from heat issues it's important that the family history of the sperm donor doesn't have people who died from that same problem.

Person B is obviously the safer bet because skipping PE and being skinnyfat doesn’t mean you’re genetically predisposed to be unfit. Just means you’re lazy or that you were never forced to participate in something physically challenging. The same applies in reverse to his education: not all people who are smart do well in school and not all people who do well in school are smart, but I’m still willing to bet he’s intelligent. And if he’s a weird loser virgin, so what? He’s dead so it’s not like I have to co parent with him. And my husband is 5’-7” so if anything his offspring would fit better in our family.

If I were to give Person A a chance I would need to know a lot more about their family history, psychological profile, etc. Maybe there’s some reason he went down the road he did but I would bet that a similar person with the same upbringing but less aggressive traits would have a different outcome.

But all of this is secondary to family medical history, let’s be real.

I'd choose to have daughters with a sperm donor so I wouldn't have to worry about genetic aggression. Face and intelligence would be most important. In some unlikely sy-fy scenario like being one of the survivors in the aftermath of a nuclear war and having only these two choices to repopulate the human race, I would go with Person B because I thank multiple murderers often have something physically wrong with their brains that contribute massively to the forces that make them serial killers and those genes shouldn't be replicated.

I'd choose neither, because if the child wouldn't be my husband's and conceived the natural way with him then I'd simply never get pregnant. I find the medical science experiment approach to conception all kinds of wrong. If we still badly wanted children in spite of his infertility then we'd consider adoption.
