Women in general have always been highly attracted to men of status and abundant resources. It just wasn’t politically correct for the average woman to admit it in the past. (So, the few women that did admit this were shamed for it.)

But now we’re moving into a “post-shaming” world.

It’s the exact same thing that’s happening with the sex-positivity stuff. Women used to be shamed for being highly sexual (or excessively sexualizing themselves). This caused most women to avoid those behaviors (not because they were any less sexual than the “sluts”, but because they didn’t want the backlash), but that isn’t the case anymore. And so now we’re seeing a much greater amount of women be promiscuous, sexualize themselves, enter sex work etc. I actually think we haven’t even hit the the peak yet. It wouldn’t surprise me If in 10-15 years, a large majority of attractive, prime-aged women engaged in some form of sexualization of themselves.

Anyways the TLDR is this : Women have largely been emancipated from social shaming. And so now a lot of the traits and behaviors that people thought were rare, scandalous or shameful are simply being revealed to be common traits that many women possess. And yes, that includes attraction to abundant resources. I wouldn’t be surprised if in a few years, the term “gold-digger” dies out as people realize that what was once considered “gold-digging” is actually just a normal part of female sexual attraction.

That's your problem right there... TikToks. You can't assume you know what women want or how they are generally from Tiktoks. Content creators usually are looking for views and they know provocation gets likes. Also your TikTok is curated based on what you find exciting.

My TikTok when I had one was full of exotic botany, physics lectures, and goth eye makeup tutorials (some of which yes had millions of views).

That doesn't mean most people or most women are into exotic botany or goth eye makeup.

I think being a gold-digger is still seen as a shameful thing by most regular people. The internet isn't real life, and people saying clickbaity things on social media doesn't necessarily tell you much about actual people's values.

That said, I haven't done a survey on attitudes towards this, so who knows, maybe there's been a change and I just haven't noticed it.

No. What is on the rise is what always increases during hard financial times in Western European cultures... people...both men and women... don't progress relationships that don't make financial sense. That's different to gold digging.

It's always been a part of our world, the only problem really is two categories of people:

Those that pretend it doesn't exist
Those that know it exists but are unable to make it work for them

As a man, I'm acutely aware of the role resources play in the quality of woman that I can attract and keep. It isn't unfair for a woman to expect a reasonable return for the investment of her youth and beauty, just as it isn't unfair for a man to expect a reasonable return for the investment of his protection and provisioning.

Those who pretend this exchange does not exist are largely inexperienced and idealistic. Sadly, ignorance here can hurt them. In the case of men who don't understand why they keep losing out on women to men who have better financial standing, they might internalize it as a problem with themselves (as opposed to a problem with their finances) or, worse, they will perceive all women as being unable to love when it's really that one thing he is missing (that can be improved upon, ironically) that is keeping him from finding a good partner.

Those that understand the system yet are powerless in it face a much crueler fate - they are relegated to the sidelines watching other men achieve success with the knowledge of the exact thing preventing them from doing the same. It can create deep feelings of resentment towards "gold diggers".

Working class women got on social media. If anything women gold dig less than before because they work more. A majority of Middle Managers are women for example.

I kind of feel like it's actually becoming less common. More women these days are working than before, so they don't need a man who can solely provide for them. In addition, they can now obtain money via OF, so why bother trying to marry some old rich guy when random dudes online will give you money instead? You can work a part time or even full time job and also make extra money and it's a lot quicker and more secure income (since you're not relying on one source).

But I don't have data so I don't know for sure. And if they don't wanna do OF, I've known girls who were sugar babies. The relationship is very transpaently transactional and the sugar daddy is totally fine with it.

COVID did something to break women's brains. I don't know if gold digging in general is higher, women have always been fond of guys that take care of them. Now it seems however they're all after the luxury lifestyle. Not that long ago if I bought girls gifts or helped them out of situations they were extremely appreciative. Now days they'll just absorb my finances and I might get a thank you. I make 160k a year in the Midwest. I don't even give off provider energy to chicks anymore because I don't have a boat. Every year the bar is being exponentially raised higher and higher.

we have to define gold-digging, I have never paid the girl directly (unless giving presents reciprocally which is normal for every relationship), but I have taken a lot of girls sometimes to very expensive places and I am quite aware that some of them were with me because of it, especially those that indirectly required presents so I finished those "situationships" immediately because of misunderstanding, OTOH there were girls who also took me to some places according to their earnings which I did appreciate a lot, too bad it didn't work out because of different reasons

I've seen that it has become quite popular in TikTok and social media (shera7 for example). It's a weird concept of women empowerment but at the end of the day it's just sugaring and depending on a man financially, plain and simple. Just the usual fantasy of finessing a man and living a soft life. A lot of these women are just tired, are living in times of precariousness, unmotivated with their jobs... It's normal in modern society. I don't know how many women are actually able or cut to live that lifestyle though.

People who take these tiktok accounts seriously are the same people who fall for Pearl's bullshit. It's a grift, farming hate comments and clicks. The number of women actually engaging in gold-digging is miniscule, but these girls use the engagement they get from angry men to expand their platforms and branch out into other media positions.
