I’ve noticed many men in this sub who have stated that they would never raise a child that wasn’t biologically his. And I’m not talking a situation where there is falsified paternity/infidelity are involved. I’m talking about folks who refuse to consider adoption or step-children an option.

Why is it that you even want to have a kid? If you were to find out that you were infertile, would you just never have kids? For me, having a child is about raising a child into adulthood, passing down your values to create a legacy, building an enriching environment to allow for a child to have the most meaningful and fulfilling human experience they can. The whole idea of the child having to be your biological child in order for the act of parenting to be worthwhile feels really archaic, and seems to be fully incompatible with the altruistic reasons for having a child. I’m just really wondering what the thought process is behind these views.
