Why do some women object to the stat that women find 80% unattractive, if they also say there aren't enough quality men?

I don’t think men realize what women find attractive visually versus what sexually arouses us versus the attraction of the overall person for companionship. All of these men may not be the same. And all three can be fucked up by a shitty personality.

a) Desirable men aren’t all the same for different women. There are some universally attractive traits, sure, but attraction is very contextual and quite often even among friends women don’t agree on which man is attractive or not.

b) Whatever percent of men you find attractive doesn’t show the percent of men you’d date or marry.

A given woman may only be attracted to 20% of men, but across women it’s not all the same men in that 20%.

Obviously you have your mega-chads that every woman is attracted to. Maybe that’s 5% of guys. Or even less. Then the remaining 15% could vary enough by woman to woman based on her preferences. Some women like skinny guys or dad bods, hairy guys, lumberjack types vs intellectuals.

So even if a given woman is only attracted to 20% of men, across 100 women I would bet 80% or so of them are attractive to at least 1 of them.

because what men mean by that (and the study its from) is about physical attractiveness but the reason there isn't enough quality men is due to personality/a lack of wholesome men.

They can be attractive but not suitable for building a whole life with, and so long as not every man is high quality there's the possibility they've been taken up. Also, not many women say that.

I think it’s because women’s attraction to men is not straight forward which men don’t seem to understand.

For men’s attraction to women, looks are 90% of their attraction. For women it could be his career, his ambition, confidence, looks, money, lifestyle, the way he dresses, his masculinity, the way he smells, his hair and the list goes on. This also means it can be combination of traits or just one trait (for example if he’s extremely good looking but dead broke).

Attraction is not symmetrical. A lot of women tend to think this but men are starting to think this too.

Now if we’re talking about solely physical attraction & sexual attraction then I’d agree that most women don’t find most men attractive. I think most women put most men in the “okay looking” category. That doesn’t necessarily means he’s unattractive entirely. That would depend on the other traits he possesses.

“Quality” entails a lot more than merely being “attractive.” And I would agree that each individual woman finds 80% of men unattractive, but the men they do find attractive tend to be different men.

I do not understand why my friend finds her boyfriend attractive, and she does not understand why I find my fiancé attractive. We had a laugh about that the other day. They’re both normal looking guys but very different types, and we both are definitely sexually attracted to our partners. This is a common theme among female friends - one woman is totally excited to show everyone the cute new guy she’s dating, and her friends don’t get it.

I’m not terribly surprised that women find a smaller percentage of men to be attractive.

Individual women will find different types of men attractive. So, let’s say 20% is an accurate stat here. Each woman will find a different 20% of men attractive.

For example, a lot of women think that KPop stars are hot. And a celebrity that I hear women talking about all the time is Timothee Chalamet. I don’t think either of them are good-looking at all. I do not see the appeal. If you ask me about a hot celeb, I’m going to say Charlie Hunnam from Sons of Anarchy.

So, if you compare these guys, you’ll notice that none of them have similar physical traits. And yet, there is no consensus amongst women about which guys are very good-looking. That’s because women have varied tastes in men, despite what guys here think.

I find less than 5% of men attractive. In a group of 100 men, 80 will be out of my age range. 15 will be the right age but not good-looking in my eyes or overweight. The stat you're referring to is really dumb though because it's constantly misused. 20% of men on a dating app were found to be attractive. Women still messaged the average men more, and the men still messaged the top 10% of women the most. Women don't find men physically arousing based on 2 facts: men don't make themselves physically arousing to women. 70% of men are overweight.... A lot of men have poor hygiene, dress boringly, and don't do any skincare or self care from moisturizer to teeth whitening. 2. Mens dating profiles are trash. Terrible photos that highlight their flaws, sunglasses in all pics, pics holding fish, pics holding dead animals, sexually suggestive photos..it's like looking for a gold in a nyc sewer. Most women would be more attracted to a man's personality than a picture of him doing a kegstand with his shirt off.

Because being a quality man isn’t about looks. We aren’t men. Men base 80% of a woman’s value on how hot, young, and skinny she is. But for a man to be valuable, he has to be a good father, not a degenerate, have a good income, etc. We aren’t superficial. We look at character over looks.

The forum called “Where are all the good men” is entirely crafted, run, posted, and voted on by men, not women. The handful of conservative women who complain about their choices are dating outside their social sphere, outside their social range. Why even pay attention to them? They are the equivalent to the handful of homeschooled neckbeards who complain about women when they’ve never dated or even had a female friend.

I disagree with that statistic because I don’t quantify people in general let alone men. I focus on the people in my proximity and I wouldn’t date every single one of them. Quality includes things like career, morals, and politics, not just attractiveness.
