Does anyone want to share a husband in the first place? At most you could argue that some people desire a monogamous relationship with someone who's already in one. Women are not demanding to sign contracts to share for life in any significant numbers.

This is flawed post with a severe misunderstanding of female sexuality and relationship goals.

The overwhelming majority of women (and men) prefer monogamy, or serial monogamy. There are zero women advocating for men to have multiple wives lmfao.

Women will not share husbands if they can’t find what they want. They will reject long term relationships, remain single, and have the occasional short term thing with some man who they do not have to rely upon in any capacity as a husband.

Men have always had extramarital affairs and resulting children from it. They don’t get shit now, so why would people feel the need to change laws for things that have already been happening? If we wanted mistresses and affair babies to have legal protection, we would have done it by now.

What is going on usually is serial monogamy. Women share men by engaging in serial monogamy, and are usually alright with it. Women who would be okay with being in an actual harem would be a very small minority.

I will admit that my understanding of feminism is limited, but to the best of my knowledge, none of them are actively calling for men to be allowed to marry multiple women and for power to be concentrated in the hands to a small number of powerful men - that would be the polar opposite of a feminist society.

In answer to your question, we haven’t considered the costs of a polygamist society, because to do so would be a pointless waste of time.

we do not have to have a polygamous society monopolizing women because of divorce. women and men are freed up for serial monogamy, not simultaneous polygamy. polygamy means more than one official spouse at a time. both men and women form multiple serial families now without "monopolization"

A monopoly is a single man. What you describe is an oligopoly. With 70% of men being in committed relationships, that is not an oligopoly at all. And that is only a snapshot of a given moment. Overall, many more men have romantic success with women and a very tiny minority never has romantic success. What you are talking about is the singles market, so the 30% of women who are not in relationships. They are not all dating the same few men at the same time. it's hardly polygamy, when it's a serial monogamy. Please, be our guest and offer some data on what percentage of men has more than one current committed or casual girlfriend/wife.

You think an insanely powerful man with hundreds of wifes has time or interest in abusing children? Child abuse happens by stepdads when they have close contact and lots of shared time with the stepchildren. Those powerful men are not stepfathers but biological fathers in your weird fantasy, right? There is no issue with child abuse. HOUSEHOLDS with multiple wives are more prone to conflict. Just have each wive life with her child in a seperate household.

How can we make life more bearable for the large masses of men who are partnerless? Or if that's not a priority for the feminists, at least, what should we do with them? E.g. should they be sent to some kind of re-education camps?

Have annual mortal combat festivities where a single man can fight his way into a position of power and become a man with a harem, by having acquired this social status and fame, combined with a prize money that gets him to a harem-man-status and lifestyle. Men can only apply to those games if they have a track record of following the rules set by the powerful men.

Will we need new kinds of marriage contracts catering to the polygamous lifestyle, to protect property and child custody rights for all parties (or at least the women, if men's right aren't important)?

In an oligopoly, the powerful men dictate the rules. There is no marriage contrat that would put those men at a disadvantage.

But wait, tell me again, why should a woman be the 209th wife of a guy who doesn't care about her or her child, when she could have a slightly less desirable guy who is 100% focused on her and offers her all his time and resources, spends time with their child and doesn't make her feel jealous?

I don't buy into this idea that we're moving toward polygamy. Women have egos two and most wouldn't be able to knowingly share a man no matter how rich he is. Ego is powerful. It's like how men wouldn't want to be with the most beautiful women in the world if we had to share her with other men.

When push comes to shove, the overwhelming majority of women will lower their standards to have a man to themselves rather than share a man who has has everything on their ideal man list.

That being said, if women somehow put their egos aside and we did become polygamous we'd see such an uptick in violence that we'd quickly outlaw polygamy again.

I've had 2 or more women at a time before. This post just kind of misses the point.

The women are desperate to be hypergamous generally. Not desperate for a "decent nice guy" but desperate for more than that. So they generally do whatever the man wants, at least in my experience. So no new marriage contracts are necessary. If women need additional protection that's what causes the polygamy in the first place. If the marriage laws had less protections for women there would be less move towards polygamy.

Lastly to your first point. Wtf are you talking about the men being abusers? You're saying if a man has 10 wives and kids with all of them... the man is more likely to abuse the kids? That's a far cry from the step parent abuse stats you mention nor do I even see how it's relevant.

Polygamy will never work in the West. Polygamy only works in Muslim countries, because the religion is still strong, the values are still traditional and the laws are built around it. The promiscuity, infidelity and divorce rates are also much lower, which makes marriage more sustainable.

In the West, you'll never see a man marrying multiple wives even if it becomes legal. It's a terrible financial decision that comes with high risk. You know what's worse than one divorce? Three divorces! You know what's worse than having one wife cheat on you? Three wives cheating on you! Now imagine the loss of assets in the divorce court and the drama/stress that follows it. At most you'll see very desirable men not marrying any woman, but having kids with multiple women openly and paying child support and maybe finance the woman's lifestyle, at least as long as she's with him.
