It’s better to have honesty than romance because after a couple gets together they will find out most of what’s available online about the opposite gender anyway just by watching their partner and as a result they will feel hurt and tricked. Best to make any decision with your eyes wide open to the pros and cons.

The internet amplifies extreme behavior and scenarios, but I still think people overall treat it with a similar level of disillusionment as media.

If it's so far outside of your own perceived reality, then you can kind of hand wave it as fringe. Now if your reality feels fucked, and you are looking for something to blame, the internet really is your oyster to find a scapegoat.

Ultimately I agree that the escapism the internet and other technology provides creates a consistent distraction and dopamine dispenser that affects peoples motivation to go out and socialize.

The only thing the internet did was make information more available. People in shitty relationships didn't used to realize they were in shitty relationships. People like me that had shitty childhoods with fucked up parents who fought all the time grew up thinking it was normal.

Now we all know better, and the information is out there for anyone who has the self-respect to not tolerate bullshit and the spine to stand up for themselves. Do people still get walked on? Of course, because not everyone has self respect or a backbone.

The thing that fucked the game up was dating apps that centered around looks, because while looks were important, this bred a whole desperate breed of swipers and monetized the search to the point that dating apps make money when you DON'T find a mate so you can pay for boosts and shit like you're trying to catch fucking Pokemon. Attractive people cleaned up, suckers spent a fortune trying to amplify their profile, less attractive people got overlooked, and the constant spectre of more matches took people out of the moment in real life and caused indecision about committing to a good, but not amazing date to go out again because there are 47 matches of unknown quality just begging to be skimmed through. People stopped focusing on the very real human in front of them that they already screened for looks and became enamored with the possibility of something better, even though 90% of 'better' was always trash...and the other 10% either won't reply, wants to send dick pics, or sell an OF subscription. This created a cycle of never being content, never living in the moment, and of course the dating apps were happy to monetize the fuck out of this. Add social media, shaming, and the increased presence that the internet gave to incels and femcels - who largely successful, well adjusted people were previously insulated from - and they now had a platform to spread their defeatist misogynistic/misandrist bullshit where well adjusted people who just needed a kick in the ass in the right direction could read it...and instead of getting the kick in the ass in the right direction, they went in the wrong direction, doubled down on failed shit and blamed the game, not the fact they never learned to play it.

The rules of attraction, what's attractive and unattractive, haven't fucking changed. What's changed is everybody's all up in their heads about shit and too afraid to make the next move, and every little setback is the end of the world. The people who shut off the narrative and aren't afraid to go after what they want, who are willing to put in the work to get it, are the ones who come out ahead.

Blue pill guys: Your weakness, insecurity, and constant vulnerability is fucking offputting. Women don't like it. What you call 'chivalry' is boring. Learn how to show a woman a good time and flirt.

Red pill guys: If you can't be a human being or respect her, you're not gonna get her. Even if you sleep with her. And your car, your income, and your watch don't fucking matter as much as you think it does. Nice things don't mean shit to her if you're terrible in bed or don't treat her with respect. And if you treat her like shit, and she has a spine, she can Google in two minutes and find out you're treating her like shit and get advice to run.

This is just the way the game is for men these days. Adapt or die.

But the things that you are talking about are not the reason why. And it definitely is a positive that people learn the truth that certain people are scum and what they do. Learning how they operate is a great way to identify them which allows you to avoid them like the plague.

We had plenty of feminists like Mary Daly in Universities (I went and saw her with my girlfriend in 2001, she's dead now), liberalism and such. Lilith fair. I saw Ani Difranco while wandering around in Ireland in 1999 after graduating high school (tells you my class status, I guess) and hooked up with another upper middle class girl from P.E.I. after the show. It seemed like things were pretty normal regardless of where someone was from. Back in the states I could say "retard" and "gay" as insults and own a gun and still be a liberal enough to think Bill Clinton was a fucking Republican...

And you just met people and got together or sometimes you didn't, but the chemistry had space. College was the same, basically. Then I left the country in 2008, came back here, and everyone is so lonely it makes me want to cry.

It's a combination.

Women's natural hypergamy was suppressed for hundreds or even thousands of years in the West, but feminism freed it in the latter half of the 20th century. The internet acts as rocket boost, because it provides women with male validation on tap, safe and with minimal investment. Concurrently, the internet also provides shaky romantic/sexual substitutes for men, e.g. video games, porn, parasocial relationships etc. Now feminism is working on establishing "polyamory" (soft harems).

At the end of the day, it's nature on steroids.

Without the internet, there may have been the slightest chance that I might have felt a little guilty for choosing to remain single and not have children, but that is simply not the case.

So many males today subscribe to red pill ideologies and are very open with how they negatively view women. All of that and what I see on reddit/social media/ YouTube/ the news all just fuels my desire to stay single.

If it’s not the misogyny in comments, it’s the content that’s upvoted to the front page. Anything positive featuring a woman rarely gets upvoted to the front but an article about being raped, murdered or just an opportunity to shit on a woman’s mistake, no problem.

Males are either spewing misogyny, laughing at it or looking away and doing nothing.

Instead of crying about how they can’t score a date, males need to start holding each other accountable for the wacko shit some of them are saying on here.

More women are opting out and choosing to stay single because this is a problem they know they cannot fix.
