But in 2024 elections, democrats were different, they we actually kinda trying to appeal to men and distancing themselves from so called woke politics like open borders, soft on crime etc.

Actually they didn't, which is why more young men went right wing because they were the group to pander to them after the Dems ignored them.

As someone mentioned before, the pendulum swings back and forth. At one point allowing gays to be in the military openly and get married was "woke" before woke was a term, but after the conservatives lost that battle they aren't even trying to die on that hill. Now they've shifted their focus to Trans, but believe me fam one day they will no longer give af about that either and pick some new irrelevant "woke" thing to obsess over.

"Woke" won't come back because any time something good is actually kinda woke (BG3 for example) the "anti-woke" people move goalposts, change definitions, and bend over backwards in general to show how it isn't REALLY woke.

Woke will 100% come back. It is quite literally just a buzzword these days describing political correctness, which fluctuates in its prevalence all the time.

I’m not sure about that. Consumers have made it very clear that trashing DEI policies is not in the interests of customers, employees or anyone except those big corporations. Now those corporations are paying for it. If anything, it just seems like “woke” is going to come back stronger once Trump stops trying to silence people.

I think that most Americans these days are fine with individual personal freedoms as long as they feel these freedoms don’t infringe upon their own freedoms. Accepting homosexuality could be considered “woke”, and most people don’t have a problem with this because they feel that the actions of the homosexuals don’t directly threaten them.

So I think that people are largely still accepting of wokeness under certain contexts. For others, it’s probably going to take a shift in thinking that hasn’t really occurred yet.

I think we are on the conservative side of the pendulum BUT it’s a weak turn because of how much they’ve alienated women - especially younger ones by the violent masculinity, outright sexism, and abortion bans.

The Democrats, meanwhile, are going to have to go balls deep into class war against Musk/Zuck/Bezos and Big Tech someday.

Fortunately, the oligarchy is making it easier by being so obnoxious and quid pro quo-ing with MAGA on the daily now.

So, a little of column A and a little of column B.

Stoic feminism with a federal jobs guarantee would be a landslide, even in today’s conservative turning.

And I also think Trump is a really old guy who has a grip on politics that will be tough, if not impossible, for someone like Vance or DeSantis or whoever the next conservative is.

He’s got a knack for politics and a way about him that makes conservatism seem countercultural and rebellious for men but whenever he kicks the bucket, I’m genuinely doubtful that conservatism can replicate his shtick.

He’s couched standard issue conservatism - which is profoundly unpopular in itself, especially economically - behind entertainment.

The left can do the same - couch social progressivism behind class warfare and going after billionaires with huge punitive taxes and aggressive rhetoric.

Men need enemies to feel like they can fight against. Trump provides that, albeit the wrong ones.

It ought to be billionaires instead of immigrants and feminism. They’re the real problem.

Look at Luigi though - even Ben Shapiro fanboys loved it.

Class warfare is ripe for the taking.

With their loss, writing is on the wall. America is turning socially conservative or atleast centrist and willing to vote for it.

For some reason, people on the right tend to view the 2024 election as some massive mandate. Keep in mind how the country voted:

President: R 49.8%, D 48.3%
Senate: R 47.7%, D 49.1%
House: R 49.8%, D 47.2%

Republicans attempt to portray those results as a landslide victory, but it's not in either popular or electoral terms. Consider other margins this century:

2020: R 46.8%, D 51.3%
2016: R 46.1%, D 48.2%
2012: R 47.2%, D 51.1%
2008: R 45.7%, D 52.9%
2004: R 50.7%, D 48.3%
2000: R 47.9%, D 48.4%

Both parties typically bounce around in a fairly tight range in the high 40s. Occasionally one party manages to get a slight majority. Obama in 2008 was the only real outlier this century, but that election took place in the midst of a massive financial crisis, so it's not apples to apples with the others.

The republican victory in 2024 looks pretty routine, so I think it's a bit premature to say that the "writing is on the wall" and that the US is turning socially conservative.

I’m white and I certainly wouldn’t consider myself “woke” but I never understood why all these white people got their panties in a twist over it. First of all it was mostly a right wing boogeyman and didn’t really exist. I live in NYC haven’t really met more than one or two people that would fit the description. Secondly, even if it was real, why does anyone care? Crazy that people are so thin-skinned that someone on the internet indirectly implying that they might be racist causes them to lose their mind. Like, grow up and grow a pair. You know if you’re racist or not so it shouldn’t bother you. Unless of course you are racist, which you are free to be, but don’t get surprised when someone calls you out.

People that are so upset over the woke boogeyman are the biggest snowflakes in the country. Purple haired, gender fluid Brooklynites are somehow significantly tougher than these people.

I think you’re pinning too much on feminists. But I think you’re right. When you’re always censoring yourself to avoid offending people, you can’t think clearly, you can’t find the truth. We always kind of knew this but kept up the woke politeness because we were still afraid of offending people. I think that behavior is going to die. I don’t like Trump. I think he’s disgustingly corrupt and he’ll probably tip authoritarian. But his election did shatter the woke filter for me. He’s doing things that people from the establishment would never think of doing because they’re too far outside the norm and if they did the things they would be criticized and there would be some uproar. They play it safe to avoid offense, and this prevents them from finding and implementing the best solution. This attitude extends outside of politics—the fear of being ostracized holds us all back. The set of norms we all had to follow became too stifling. It also caused people’s resentments to grow because they couldn’t be expressed publicly.

Another thing—older politicians who came up when TV was the big media source come across as completely fake in the current media environment. Part of this is because they’re too conservative, not willing to say things that might provoke people. That speaking style doesn’t work anymore. Politicians, everyone is going to learn to be less politically correct.

Your definition is technically correct, but the issue is the disproportionate emphasis and warped weighting of it all. It should have near zero relevance in most modern political conversations.

Generational wealth lasts three generations.

Rattling off the last traces of barriers that were erased in the 50’s - early 70’s has some relevance to some people, but is no longer a chief grievance any one of working age today can claim as an obstacle.

I could pick at your individual issues a little more. For example, regarding (3) - it’s mostly a behavioral issue. The reality is people smoking crack on the streets cause more problems than some asshole doing blow in a club. A lot of drugs are effectively secondary charges.
