If you spend any time on this sub (or really anywhere), you will hear people repeat ad nauseam that lack of social skills is the biggest (or only) reason why so many men do poorly in the dating market. The people promoting this viewpoint will then follow this up with countless personal anecdotes describing average or even below average looking men who are massively successful with women purely due to behavior. These behaviors, however, will be described in a bunch of vague, warm, fuzzy and wholesome language such as "confident", "charismatic", or "funny". There seems to be a kind of allergy towards describing things in any real nitty-gritty physical detail. Perhaps because a detailed and honest description would lower most people's opinions of those men (and therefore they couldn't be used as a cudgel to attack any man with similar looks who isn't doing well in the dating market).

So what would be a good description of those behaviors? Well, first let's go over some data:

An excerpt from the article above: "The latest National Survey of Family Growth shows that, for example, men with college degrees are half as likely to have had four or more partners in the last year as men with a high school education alone."

Excerpt from the abstract of the article: "Controlling for age, physical maturity, and mother’s education, a significant curvilinear relationship between intelligence and coital status was demonstrated; adolescents at the upper and lower ends of the intelligence distribution were less likely to have sex."

I can already see some of you furiously typing away: "Of course high IQ STEM dorks can't get women!!! Academic intelligence=/=Social intelligence!!!!"

To those people, I suggest that you re-read the excerpts/links. The statement from Psychology Today article compared men with college degrees to men with NO degree. Not men with STEM degrees to men with non-STEM degrees or men with prestigious degrees to those without. The mere possession of ANY degree at all lowers a man's chances of a promiscuous sex life by a huge margin. Strange isn't it given that college is where men will be surrounded by the highest concentration of women in their entire lives?

When it comes to the journal article on IQ, the abstract excerpt is fairly innocuous. But when you actually read the full pdf, the results are astounding. Figure 3 shows that even after taking many other factors into account, males with IQs of 120 had about the same level of success as males with IQs of 60 (close to disability territory).

The common narrative that boys/men who don't do well with women must be unable to hold normal conversations or interact socially with people on a day to day basis doesn't hold up in light of this evidence. While IQ and social skills do not perfectly correlate, the idea that the average 60 IQ boy has a better understanding of social cues than the average 120 IQ boy is laughable. What if I told you that it's the opposite of what you think? That the understanding of social cues can actually BE the handicap.

I'll tell you what I actually think is going on (no, not looks):

  1. Boys who have low empathy, low impulse control, and low foresight are less likely to be aware of social cues, less likely to care about them, and thus more likely to make bold sexually forward moves on girls. Low empathy, impulse control, and foresight correlate with low IQ.

  2. While most girls will be uncomfortable with their advances, if these boys spam this type of approach then a few girls will say yes.

  3. If they behave this way often enough and from an early enough age, it simply becomes "their personality". This is a double-edged sword since this can lead to them being shunned from a lot of the more "polite" professions and circles later in life, but it also leads to people making excuses i.e. "that's just how he is lol", "boys will be boys", etc.

Contrast this with the experience of another boy with similar looks but higher IQ. He knows that an overtly sexual approach will garner ire and possibly revulsion. So he keeps the approach much more toned down and eventually gets friend-zoned.

At this point you might ask: Why can't the high IQ boy just copy the low IQ boy? I mean..... that's basically what the red pill is i.e. a bunch of medium/high IQ, middle/upper-middle class men of average looks and polite upbringings trying to copy low IQ, lower class behavior. It has largely failed because of what I described in point number 3 above. To elaborate, you can't just one day decide to behave a certain way if it's completely incongruent with who you have been for years and years. Your behavior over time determines the friends you accumulate and beyond this, your social class determines the behavioral standards you're held to. A middle/upper middle class boy raised in a proper two-parent household will suffer far worse consequences for acting like a sexually aggressive douche around girls than a boy from a lower/lower-middle class background.

To summarize, in light of the evidence, the key behavioral difference between average looking boys who get laid a lot vs those that don't is likely not social skill but rather social/sexual aggression combined with greater leeway to exhibit those behaviors. In other words, bluepillers are correct that behavior plays a significant role in a man's sexual success but the behaviors that work are not things they would ever approve of. They are basically allergic to any criticism of female sexuality which leads to them promoting such Just World fallacies around this topic.

PS: For anyone who disagrees with my hypothesis that higher IQ men are held to a higher standard of behavior, compare the respective scandals that Tiger Woods and Mike Tyson went through. Tiger Woods cheated on his wife, and for this his image was damaged beyond repair and he lost millions of dollars worth of sponsorships. Mike Tyson actually spent time in prison for rape(!) and yet shortly after serving his time, he was welcome back to the mainstream.
