🚩She finds the "equality" as a boost for her self esteem when in reality, he's scamming her but okay

🚩He bought a thoughtful and planned out gift for the girl "friend" that was better overall than his gf's

🚩No jealousy but she feels hurt because he takes advantage of her and treats this other girl better. Which is jealousy... 2+2=4, hun.

But there is a great lesson here. If you want to know your place in a man’s life, just ask him about the gifts he got the girlfriends before you or just look around at the gifts he’s getting women in his life now. I was inspired to break up with a scrote BF years ago when he was telling me a long story about this elaborate present he had gotten a girl who wasn’t even his girlfriend! He had done nice things for me, but nothing to that level. I realize instantly I wasn’t the “dream girl”. He looked HV on the surface, paid for everything, planned all the dates, brought me flowers for no reason etc. etc. He was one of those guys who will treat any woman he was with well, so it took me a while to realize he wasn’t all that excited about me. And for the newbies and lurkers who are thinking, wow he treated her well, why wasn’t that enough to be HV? A truly HVM would not have pursued me so relentlessly, knowing he wasn’t truly interested, and he wouldn’t have hung around for five months because he was lonely or bored.

He gives his girlfriend the bare minimum because he doesn’t value her or how she sees him. In fact, he cares so little that he TOOK his girlfriend WITH him to splurge on the “friend.”

She needs to get the hell out of there! The audacity!! This may have even been on purpose so they fight before the party and he can have the opportunity to hit on the “friend.”

My loser ex (surprise, also age gap) bought a $100 meaningful gift for "just a friend." To be fair they WERE childhood friends so I let it slide. I earn twice as much as my HVM (still vetting, but being comfortable with saying it out loud now), and he STILL pays for everything. Why? Because he wants to. I can’t imagine that he would ask me to do 50/50 relationship, even though in our case and financial discrepancy it wOuLd Be fAiR.

I don't see how you can feel empowered and financially independent if you are forced to live with and pay half of everything as somebody who earns FOUR times as you. Please, in those cases don't even live with those men. This way you can keep your expenses and household- costs fully under your own control, as you should, and spend/ save exactly what is appropriate for your situation. Never spend all your money if you can help it.

He already has the girlfriend so he's comfortable and complacent in trying - shes probably lowered her standards and expectations so it's just acceptable to him.

He probably knows hes a piece of shit and probably doesn't actually respect her for even dating him since hes 10 years older than her.

I probably would help pick out a nice gift for a friend but would 100% have a problem with a boyfriend giving another woman roses while I get dog piss dandelions.
