My grandmother died "alone" among nice nurses and doctors because she lived in a home after having had a fractured hip. She was 97 and had her children over every day. Her husband had died a decade before her since he was older.

Being married doesn't protect you from dying without a husband by your side.
Dying without a husband isn't necessarily "alone". There are many people who'll help you die in peace.
Having a husband for a short time is enough to have some children who might be with you when you're old. But that's not guaranteed.
Saving up money for getting a good care home is also an option, especially for childfree people.
Being with someone who threatens you with dYiNg aLOne is never worth being around - not in life and not in death.

Edit: Also, do you know how often people pass away unexpectedly? Accidents, heart attacks, COVID, suicide, murder, etc. Imagine putting up with a NVM to not “die alone”, and then he dies of a heart attack at 59. You’re free, but you’re back at square one of “not dying alone”. Not to be morbid, but maybe you’re the one who passes unexpectedly. Do you really want the life you lived to have been wasted being unhappy with a man for the sake of not being alone? It’s like people having kids expecting them to be their retirement plan. I got a puppy about 3 months ago and if I’m being 100% honest…

My relationship with my puppy has been more fulfilling than all 3 of my long-term relationships. I don’t know if it’s the selflessness, unconditional love, loyalty, etc. that a dog embodies but I could see myself being a very happy dog lady.

Random thoughts... -My dear Grandmother put FOUR husbands in the grave before she left here, so Im already 3x behind. -My silly, immature sister decided to have a child under Questionable Circumstances by an obvious NVM. My child is grown/gone; tried to Warn her of Impending Doom; she thinks she has the Ultimate Red Snapper. Fast forward, 3yrs later, I have a autistic Spectrum nephew, frazzled sister who fights with NVBD just about every day.

Not having a great partner to love and share life with makes me sad sometimes, but settling for someone that doesn't meet my standards just because he's easier to find (for example, choosing to date a porn user because "all men watch porn") will make me even more unhappy.

And, If I do someday decide having any man is better than no man, I can always lower my standards then. Despite what they tell you, LVM will always be available.

My grandfather died when he was in his 50s. My grandmother outlived him by 40 years. She spent the last several years of her life in a swanky retirement community, with a beautiful 3br apartment, ‘round the clock care if/when she needed it, and tons of friends. Her daughter, her youngest son, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren visited her regularly. She had a full life right up until the end.

Women outlive men so the only way to truly not die alone and be well cared for till end is to go for age gap relationships with a younger man ( like emannuel macrons wife kinda ) .

You may roast me but Monogamy is often unnatural and this means that most unions don’t last long and rely on human connection and friendship rather than sexual compatibility BS that men peddle ! Even if I have a lovely partner who is wonderful in all aspects he will die sooner than me anyways ! If not war, workplace accidents or lifestyle diseases , pure biology itself says that average man will be living years shorter than a woman anyways! And most partners of women are older because men take forever to grow up lol 😂!

The other option is looking for young men and “training” him to be HVM but this is kinda abusive in a way and doesn’t sit well with most women at least ! Plus I feel everyone deserves the opportunity to grow without any external pressures ! I genuinely hope the next gen of men turn out better than the older ones at least for the sake of younger women
