Online dating apps are consistently growing in popularity every year, more and more couples seem to be meeting online. However, despite their growing number and popularity they still, universally, have the same issues.

Those issues being:

  • Gender imbalance: Men seem to use dating apps more than women, and the women that do use them get consistently more responses than men.
  • Fake profiles and scams: Dating apps are a very common way for scammers to target people online.
  • Dishonest intentions: This one is more of an issue for women I've seen, even if you're perfectly honest and upfront about your dating intentions it's likely you might get someone who will string you along to get what they want.

Are these issues just an immutable part of online dating, or is it possible that in the future some dating app could overcome some of these issues?
