Women don't actually want their men to "be in touch with their feelings". Men don't show emotion or share their feelings because there is no benefit for them to do so in society or their relationships.

Probably may have said this before, but I believe that being fat is =/= ugly. Assuming the overweight person atleast has a good base of features to begin with.

I'm sorry, but I still think being cheated on is much harder as a man than as a woman, for the following reasons:

  1. No woman was ever forced to take custody of a child who's not hers because of her man's infidelity.
  2. When men are cheated on, they are seen as pathetic little bitches who couldn't keep her satisfied, making him seen as less attractive. In turn, when a woman is cheated on, it activates the white knight instincts of good-hearted men, who then want to save her and treat her right.
  3. When a woman is cheated on, it's much easier for her to find a temporary or permanent replacement.
  4. Society teaches that men are dumb primitive animals when it comes to sex, so it's easier for women not to internalize being cheated on. In turn, society teaches that women are less lustful and more in control of their sex drive, so any cheating from a woman feels more deliberately like a statement about the inadequacy of her man. It's like, you know you're a loser when even the less lustful sex can't exercise enough control to break up with you before betraying you; it just feels much more personal.

None of this is about the morality of cheating. Cheating is equally wrong, no matter who does it. However, just like men engaging in physical spousal abuse inflict more damage than a woman having the same intent and making the same effort, I think unfaithful women generally cause more damage than unfaithful men having the same intent and making the same effort.

y so much talk about "chad" and "stacy" when these are people who would look the best out of thousands

\^ And maybe even millions if you wish to go up to the level of girls like Brooke Shields, Nana, Adriana Lima, etc. (Same goes for guys like Matt Bomer and Jeremy Meeks)

[–]zgtlunatic1 point 1 week ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Q4M: Would you date a single mother if the woman were to look the best out of at-least every 4 million women? (basically Brooke Shields and 2014 Jeremy Meeks tier).

I was in a resort on Lanzarote a few months ago. It was mostly British tourists there. And yes, the amount of overweight and obese women with thin, normal-weight guys was staggering. Many had kids as well.

I notice them too, and you can tell they formed from dating apps/online because women have even greater leverage on them. Male beauty standards are higher than women’s when young, particularly online, (less likelyhood of having wealth, status accumulation young) and it makes women’s best chance of locking one down. Over 30-35 you’re right the dudes tend to be worse looking than the women but I don’t know if it will continue being that way.

What people don't get is that all the 7+/10 women posting on looks advice subs are trying to pull Chad, not just be generally attractive.

[–]zgtlunatic30/25/45 -1 points0 points1 point 1 week ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I've found that those women don't really post their pics online all that often, if even at all. (Someone letme know when an actual supermodel posts)

Same goes for the more unattractive men (particularly these two demographics being the least likely to post their pics online. Reason being? Is that these people already know for sure where they stand based on how they're treated IRL).

[–]TankfarmMurdock 2 points3 points4 points 1 week ago (0 children) | Copy Link

7/10 women overwhelmingly end up with 7/10 men.

A 7/10 is about as low as an actual Chad will dip to out of rare desperation in reality, it’s normally 8s, 9s, and 10s.

According to the manosphere/red-pill, hypergamy is so bad that even good-looking men are having to settle for mids en masse. All across the country, most couples are now a better-looking man with a worse-looking woman.

If that is truly the case, then there should be an abundance of women at the top of the looks range who are single because their equivalents are partnered with worse-looking women.

So where are these plethora of hot single women unable to find equally looksmatched men?

That's a low credibility source compared against pew, might as well compare Alex Jones to Associated Press.

[–]anthropics 2 points3 points4 points 1 week ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It aggregates and analyses surveys from other sources. It's not the source in and of itself.

How about these sources then? This also looks at GSS data up to 2022:

https://ifstudies.org/blog/theres-no-huge-gender-gap-in-being-single-among-young-adults

This is where the 2020-2022 American Perspectives Survey data is from:

https://www.americansurveycenter.org/research/from-swiping-to-sexting-the-enduring-gender-divide-in-american-dating-and-relationships/

How about the fact that 3/4 of the Pew gap was driven by a higher cohabitation/marriage rate among young women, contradicting the Chad explanation for it?

[–]BrainMarshalPurple Pill Man: Men can sort the world out with Tang Ping 0 points1 point2 points 1 week ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There's no basis for saying that contradicts the Chad explanation for why fewer women are single than men. And the IFS report even admits women date outside their age group. That explains a lot right there.

Honestly, that sounds like a bunch of men overestimating their looks. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Most people are average and will date/marry other average people. Even if average men think they're 10/10 hotties who deserve hot women, that doesn't change what they actually look like.

[–]BrainMarshalPurple Pill Man: Men can sort the world out with Tang Ping -1 points0 points1 point 1 week ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Honestly, that sounds like a bunch of men overestimating their looks.

If that had even the barest shred of credibility the looksmaxxing movement wouldn't be the steamrolling juggernaut that it is today.

[–]platinirismsBlackpilled Man (30) 0 points1 point2 points 1 week ago (1 child) | Copy Link

"Men overestimate their looks" compared to what or who?

What I mean is, women find 80% of men below average, like just straight off the bat, most men are considered ugly by women.

Meanwhile a guy who's more attractive than 70% of the male population might rate himself a 6/10, because when he compares himself to other men, he is objectively more attractive than 70% of them.

Is he overestimating his looks? Objectively speaking, he is more attractive than the average man, so a 6/10 should be fairly accurate and he would be rating himself correctly. But at the exact same time, he would be overestimating his looks because most women find him ugly and would rate him a 4/10 or worse.

This always gets me because, if you use this logic, you're absolutely right, most men overestimate their looks, very simply because women find most men unattractive. How does a man correctly estimate his own looks?

[–]BrainMarshalPurple Pill Man: Men can sort the world out with Tang Ping -1 points0 points1 point 1 week ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But then women see the top 10% of men as baseline. Below that every man's score is 0.

[–]fiftypoundpuppySpayed Old Maid | Hoet Laureate ♀ 0 points1 point2 points 1 week ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I agree, but I think sometimes it's a bit more complex than that. I don't think your baseline average woman and baseline average man are equal in looks nor sexual appeal. So I think even within the realm of "average," men are actually physically hypergamous. Most people (men?) on this sub either believe the exact opposite, or rigidly insist on the absolute looks equality of average men and average women.

For example, take content creator Brianna Gipson. On some of her videos men will make backhanded compliments implying that somehow, they are attracted to her or there's just something they think is compelling about her. What they're really saying is "you're not conventionally attractive, you're actually average looking but even so I find you attractive." I think there's a bit of men not recognizing what average women look like but I also think she could have a "cute, accessible girl next door" way about her even if she's kind of a dorky-looking woman and has a slight lazy eye. And that's no shade on her, I think she's funny and I follow her. I'm just observing physically she still has some charm even if she's not conventionally attractive.

Her male equivalent, however... a dorky-looking untoned man with a slight lazy eye is not going to have the same baseline of physical or sexual attractiveness. He's just not. Men on this sub would insist they're "matched" but she would still be better looking and have more sexual and physical appeal than her male equivalent. Her male equivalent would have to do something to increase his masculinity to have the same baseline as her. But under the mentality and parameters of the prevailing mindset on this particular sub, such a man becoming maybe more fit and growing a beard would make him look "better" than her and thus she'd be "dating up in looks." Under my framework they'd actually be truly matched.

[–]Just_Alternative3167Man 0 points1 point2 points 1 week ago (3 children) | Copy Link

But that's because male and female sexuality and attraction just work differently and not due to an objective discrepancy in looks/beauty.

Unleash male sexuality on other males (gay men) and you have the same effect of average and velow average guys lusted over

[–]fiftypoundpuppySpayed Old Maid | Hoet Laureate ♀ 0 points1 point2 points 1 week ago (2 children) | Copy Link

But that's because male and female sexuality and attraction just work differently and not due to an objective discrepancy in looks/beauty.

Sexual dimorphism matters to looks and so-called "objective looks." There's no point pretending otherwise, that's just cap on behalf of men. I'm really tired of this posturing from the so-called "logical, rational sex."

A masculine looking man and a masculine looking woman are not going to be considered equally attractive. That is an "objective looks discrepancy." Sexuality has nothing to do with that.

So yes, the same features on a woman can be less sexually attractive on a man and vice-versa.

[–]Just_Alternative3167Man 0 points1 point2 points 1 week ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That's all true and I wasn't arguing against that

[–]fiftypoundpuppySpayed Old Maid | Hoet Laureate ♀ 0 points1 point2 points 1 week ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I started typing a reply and realized I was just repeating myself.

All I'm going to say is that the complete crux of your reply to me completely was arguing against what I said. You insist it's just a matter of "sexuality." Male sexuality is a male 4 being able to be hard for a female 2. That doesn't make the female 2 look as good as a female 4. That's your "it's sexuality" rebuttal though.

My point is that the exact same face isn't necessarily going to look equally attractive just by changing the sex, and there's no logical reason why we should expect it to. That observation is completely separate from "sexuality" and "fuckability," it is a statement about beauty and looks. A small neotenous doe-eyed female isn't the looksmatch of a small neotenous doe-eyed man because good looks for men involve physical traits of masculinity from a beauty perspective.

[–]Lemon_geckoWoman (blue). I adopted the bear 1 point2 points3 points 1 week ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I think men are so homoerotic that it starts to influence their attraction too, so they see men as more attractive than women. It would explain a lot. So when they say this, to them 80% of women are unattractive, but not so much for men.

[–]Gold_Sheepherder6569No Pill man 0 points1 point2 points 1 week ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Women literally say that they think women are more attractive and wish they were bi or lesbians because of that, are they homoerotic?

[–]Lemon_geckoWoman (blue). I adopted the bear -1 points0 points1 point 1 week ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You need to learn what homoerotic means. But objectively they are more attractive. The world behaves as they are.

[–]Gold_Sheepherder6569No Pill man 3 points4 points5 points 1 week ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Homoerotic means showing, feeling, or suggesting sexual desire between people of the same sex

But objectively they are more attractive

Even if that is true which I think is debatable, it can still be true that men are dating women less attractive than themselves.

[–]mobjackMan | Husband Material 5 points6 points7 points 1 week ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The manosphere calls good looking women mid these days.

It is like they don't know how women look in real life. If she worked in your office, she would be the hot one.

[–]fiftypoundpuppySpayed Old Maid | Hoet Laureate ♀ 0 points1 point2 points 1 week ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

There's definitely a lot of that, I agree.

It seems the definition of beauty for women is overly narrow (which I think is to try to artificially deflate what they think is an "unreasonable" market) and the hot women either have small bodies with zero curves or are insta-thots. Then the "average woman" they're talking about is generally cute/pretty young women with clear skin; big eyes; long hair; good symmetry; and ~20 BMIs.

That's when they try redefining scopes with "well average for my neighborhood/school/class/income/etc." Which is just unfalsifiable.

But also if it works like that for them then the same should apply for women and we never get that same grace. If you ask me if I'm attracted to "average men" then my answer would be no. But if you ask me if I'm attracted to the average man in specific environments, then my answer would change depending on the environment.

[–]TankfarmMurdock 4 points5 points6 points 1 week ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I feel like the opposite is true in my area. You’re more likely to see a better dressed/styled/looking woman with just a random looking dude with a mustache lol.

I will say, I’m sure that’s my personal bias since I’m straight and the fact that women generally put more upkeep in their appearance.

[–]fiftypoundpuppySpayed Old Maid | Hoet Laureate ♀ 2 points3 points4 points 1 week ago (4 children) | Copy Link

My observations align with yours, and I think logically it makes sense too. Men can compensate for lack of looks with other things and women really can't. Women can't really attract men with status or money, at most it acts as a multiplier for looks and/or femininity. I still think most people pair assortatively but if there is a discrepancy, it falls along traditional lines. I haven't seen this radical paradigm shift that so many men here claim to.

For every Simone Biles there's still ten Jordan Hudsons lol

[–]Motor-Buy-6991Man 0 points1 point2 points 1 week ago (2 children) | Copy Link

The compensation doesn’t really make up for a lack of looks. Being useful to a woman gets her to settle for you not actually be attracted to you. Yes this is what I think of your average human romantic relationship, it’s a settle fest.

[–]fiftypoundpuppySpayed Old Maid | Hoet Laureate ♀ 1 point2 points3 points 1 week ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

It's not supposed to "make up" for anything. Women are not all the same. Some women care more and some women care less about looks. It's the same as any other variance and preference, everyone's thresholds are different.

I don't care a lot about how much money a guy makes. If he makes the median for my area that's fine. I'm okay with making noticeably less for certain reasons (non-profit, student, etc.). For me a man doesn't have to "compensate" for lack of money here, I just don't care about it as much.

When I say men can "compensate" for lack of looks I just mean there are other things that women care about besides just looks. Them not being maxed or optimized in one field doesn't necessarily mean they can't appeal to women who prioritize other things. I went to a theme park recently and checked out their subreddit so I've been getting a lot of posts related to them lately. So many posts are about "plus size friendly" rides, talking about what rides they can fit on, etc. It's depressing as hell. I know that shaming won't helping anything but damn I can't believe we're at a point in this country where a significant number of people have to consider that kind of thing instead of focusing on having a good time at the park.

Female mentality. They’re all in solidarity when most women have something to gain. As soon as most women find a solution to their problem they move the goalposts in their favor.

Body positivity was a thing until ozempic released, so now it’s back to fat shaming.

Slut shaming was a thing until most women realized they could share Chad and retain the same lifestyle, so now we have cc riding and situationships.

Whatever benefits the most women, right or wrong is their policy.

Of course not, but it's a trade off, one group of people is getting hurt either way. The only thing different is that i wouldn't have to see fat people by one the ways. So I lean that way.

If I apply to 100 jobs and get 0 interviews, you would think that my resume isn't good enough for the current job market. If however I applied to 100 jobs, got 50 interviews, and struck out on all 50 interviews, you would think that my interviewing skills suck.

So why is it that when a guy on here says they don't have good enough looks to get a date, people immediately say "no its not your looks, its your personality!" ? If he were getting dates that lead nowhere it would signal a personality issue, but getting no dates at all signals a looks issue.

[–]SprayAffectionate321Purple Pill Woman -1 points0 points1 point 1 week ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Most men date and marry. Most of these men that date and marry aren't the most attractive. While I don't believe that personality alone can explain a complete lack of a dating life, many of these inexperienced men seem to have avoidant personalities or look for women much more attractive than they are.

I know my friends have rejected attractive men's profiles on dating apps, purely because the guy's personality seemed thoroughly off-putting. It's like seeing a prospective employee oversell themselves on their CV, and choosing not to move forward with them as a candidate.

Dating app profile critiques are absolutely cancer. Just being attractive is 90% of getting matches. As long as your pics aren't blurry, all mirror selfies, or obviously distasteful you aren't really benefiting from having extra special high quality photos. And aslong as your bio doesn't have obvious red flags you really don't need to do much with it. I always uploaded like 5 pics taken on a cellphone and do a really basic about me and never had issues meeting people. I hate seeing people checking all the "boxes" in regards to having the best almost professional photos and putting a ton of thought into their bios and prompts asking people for advice on reddit because they're not getting matches because they're not very attractive and redditors find the most inane things on their profile to criticize instead of just saying "yeah, you're ugly, you need to meet women in ways that you can leverage your personality." These guys hyper optimize their profiles for a chance to buy a woman dinner and have her leave and go fuck some dude with barely anything in his bio and like 2 pics someone took of him at the beach.

Unfortunately that sub has a "toxic positivity" problem where they assume physical characteristics of the poster are set in stone. It might be a rule to not comment on those characteristics, but it's frustrating seeing obvious things holding someone back and the responses being "dress nicer" and "your prompts are too boring". Problem being, if they lost weight that same outfit would be considered "dressing nicer" and those prompts might be viewed as "engaging"

Why be basic, though? The written aspect of the bio helps someone to determine if you are interesting enough to talk to and to be pleasant enough to go on a date with. No one can be excited about a basic profile.

[–]Tardigrade_DiscoRed Pill Moid following rules 1 & 2 0 points1 point2 points 1 week ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No one can be excited about a basic profile.

You'e pretending I used the word "basic" as a synonym for bland and not-descriptive. Regardless, you shouldn't be looking for someone to entertain you. I've never made an "exciting" bio. It's just a basic bio. It lists details about me and my interests, what I'm looking for and the language is colorful enough to not come across as a stick in the mud. It's basic. It's not the overtop stuff people tell men they need. It does the job and I have no problem meeting people.

I’m sure some bloopies will still find a way to argue with me about this but here goes:

The biggest flaw with the blackpill is that a lot of men seem to fail to realize that it’s entirely possible a girl found you attractive but just wasn’t into you for some reason. Maybe it was your style, personality, or she just likes a different phenotype like Italian men. It doesn’t mean she never found you attractive. It just means that it wasn’t enough. Men do this too. Some guys just aren’t into goth girls no matter how attractive they find them.

You really can’t know why a woman is rejecting you unless you read her mind. Yes appearance is definitely a reason, and a lot more common than people think. But it’s pointless to get worked up over it. She either wants you or she doesn’t and it’s futile to try and change that.

Now if the woman who date guys with your phenotype is rejecting you (ei she dates surfer guys and hasn’t dated you a man who looks like a typical surfer) then yeah it’s probably warranted to feel ugly about it and that sucks. But if you aren’t a jock and trying to woo a cheerleader who is different from you personality wise it’s a little bit of an unfair comparison imo and not something to give up about.

Luck and compatibility still matter.

[–]platinirismsBlackpilled Man (30) 1 point2 points3 points 1 week ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That’s not really a flaw with the Blackpill. Blackpill states that looks are the absolute most important thing when it comes to dating. A random attractive guy getting rejected doesn’t contradict this, it just means his other qualities was enough to turn that particular woman off.

Good looking men get rejected all the time. Open tinder as a male model and a ton of women will still swipe left.

One of the under-discussed tensions in male sexuality is their desire/attraction to young, beautiful (when they can get them - otherwise just young will suffice) nulliparous women and then ruin their looks by knocking them up. Biologically, they want to take this woman and turn her into this woman. I find that fascinating, wanting to ruin what you're attracted to. I guess if "spray and pray" is your nature though, her being ruined isn't your problem - it's onto the next one to ruin.

But as a woman, the last thing I would want to do is make my man lose the same physical attractiveness that drew me to them. There's no such tension in female sexuality. Finding a man sexually attractive doesn't inspire in me a desire to turn him into a sad aged tired sack. But that's the inherent conflict of straight male sexuality - to take those young, slim, carefree, attractive women and make them bloated and saggy and tired and haggard for his genes and "legacy."

[–]growframeNo Pill Man 1 point2 points3 points 1 week ago (3 children) | Copy Link

There's no such tension in female sexuality. Finding a man sexually attractive doesn't inspire in me a desire to turn him into a sad aged tired sack.

The female pendant of this is discussed a lot in red pill spaces though it's not really about appearance but personality and behavior. (I don't really know how much truth there is in this but they claim that) women like to take and tame a risk-taking, exciting, wild and free, maybe to some extent player bad boy and then "beta-fy" him and morph him into the perfect husband guy who gave up his old characterstics and passions and makes her his #1 priority. This new guy then is unattractive to her as he lacks the spark that drew her to him in the first place so she will then cheat on or leave him.

The female pendant of this is discussed a lot in red pill spaces though it's not really about appearance

Then it's not the "female equivalent."

I posted this comment on the looks thread for a reason. There is no equivalent of this for female sexuality. Both men and women can have behavioral desires that differ for sexual attraction vs relationship attraction, but only men have a sexuality that makes them want to ruin everything they like physically about a woman in the first place. It essentially ruins her for other men, and occasionally even himself. It's fundamentally deranged.

"I really want to take your beauty and destroy it πŸ₯°"

Hmmm. I think there's certainly something about male psychology in the realm of "domination" that gets off on ruining women. Even outside of that, my point still remains that their desire to impregnate women at their peak is essentially destroying the most valuable paintings. It's ruining beauty at the highest point by virtue of its own existence. Every time men talk about "post wall" this and that they are reaffirming that women with diminished beauty aren't as enjoyable to ruin. Every time they try to ineffectively taunt women about our "declining fertility" and expired eggs they reinforce this mindset as well.

They inherently want to destroy us at peak ripeness. That is when we are the most valuable and "fertile." And that is when they want to knock us up the most.

You cannot convince me of otherwise; whether you’re a man OR a woman, your best dating experiences, and access to probably the highest quality and quantity of partners is going to come with having high muscle mass and low relative bodyfat

I don’t speak of specific numbers because it’s kinda flawed and not everyone looks the same at the same thresholds, but I think the range is still pretty narrows

(Related side note: I’m convinced most people overestimate how lean they are and how attractive they are, including myself at times)

Highest quality? Yes, being fit and in shape will absolutely get you the highest quality partners, at least in my personal anecdotal experiance.

Quantity? I’d still argue yes but I’d be less confident, you could argue you can attract more women with a bit of belly fat, dad bod style, considering most women are overweight and may feel more comfortable dating other overweight men.

[–]competitive_moggerMan 0 points1 point2 points 1 week ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I found I had better matches when I was bulkier/at the height of my bulk. My girlfriend describes it as "being boyfriend shaped".

I do agree that muscles help a lot in general though. I had the most amount of hookups when I was diced.

[–]Gold_Sheepherder6569No Pill man 1 point2 points3 points 1 week ago (0 children) | Copy Link

For women if they get too muscular it would turn men off, same for men but men have more leeway in that regard

[–]KatatonicsnakeMarried European ♀ 2 points3 points4 points 1 week ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I don’t know about the highest quality because I think it has a lot to do with compatibility. The best partner for you is the one who is the most compatible with you, not necessarily someone who might be the most desired overall.

That being said, having a relatively athletic and muscular body type has helped me, even though it isn’t something women usually aspire to have. I think there are men (and women) who like that kind of body type and they are usually pretty assertive about it.

[–]Spread-Em-PlzHyperactive Prettyboy, man! 0 points1 point2 points 1 week ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah it could be my biases in my initial comment as I tend to find athletic/muscular girls the most attractive (I mean yes like most men I like significant lower body development but I’m also a fan of noticeable upper body musculature on girls too, which is a little different)

Personality has a genetic component, creativity is at large also genetics (the talent aspect) and individuality needs the person to be naturally drawn to that which is..... πŸ€”

Apart from the fact that none of those things are looks related, things like creativity and individuality are valued in contexts that are generally not attraction or dating

We should actually embrace natural beauty, as it will oppose to things like mass cosmetic surgery and will encourage people to have healthy lifestyles.

This is completely subjective but, I don’t like the appearance of a lot of beauty trends. Like the look of microbladed brows for example or foundation that makes skin wrinkle and flat. You have to spend so much, commit to a whole routine, all to look slightly different. I guess worth it if you like the outcome.
I like the look of blush, lips, mascara, teeth whitening and other pretty simple stuff. I don’t have wrinkles though and Botox does actually make people look younger so I’d consider that.

They refuse to accept what women say and act like they are more informed.

Women in aggregate act very different from how women as individuals claim to behave.

If I go fishing, I know that catching a Large Catfish is fundamentally different from fishing for trout.

I know that, on average, you are more likely to catch larger quantities and more species of fish if you act like you are fishing for trout.

If I am starving, why would I expend the energy or listen to someone who expects me to tailor my entire strategy towards catching only one species of fish?

[–]Lemon_geckoWoman (blue). I adopted the bear 1 point2 points3 points 1 week ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I see what you're trying to say, but i think the issue is that the truth is in the middle. Women tell what they like, but they also mix it with what they think they like, or something individual to them, so a man has to sort through that information to determine what is true in general, what isn't.

But then men also claim to know patterns of women's behavior/attraction. And partly those patterns come from observation, partly from logical errors in those observations, partly from some beliefs that they caught somewhere, some emotions etc. So they have some good information, but also that good information is mixed with usually something wild.

And when men come with that and express what they "know" women look at it in shock. Can it be because men discovered unpleasant truth? Yes it can. But it also can be because it's complete bullshit.

[–]beneficent2557No Pill 0 points1 point2 points 1 week ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Can it be because men discovered unpleasant truth? Yes it can. But it also can be because it's complete bullshit.

This is actually a hugely important thing to me.

I believe that an honest man must be willing to be eclectic in how they gather information, we must be willing to hold our nose and engage with people we despise, because there are nuggets of truth buried under the mire of vitriol and contempt.

We passively take in what is said and then try to discern what statements are factually supported and try to integrate them within our world view.

Throwing away what is said because of our distaste for the other person, is inherently foolish and widens the perceptual blindspots we are trying to account for in our lives.

[–]beneficent2557No Pill 0 points1 point2 points 1 week ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What we perceive about ourselves, what we think we value, versus what we actually respond to are completely different.

But then men also claim to know patterns of women's behavior/attraction. And partly those patterns come from observation, partly from logical errors in those observations, partly from some beliefs that they caught somewhere, some emotions etc.

What logical errors are your referring to? With women it would appear that most attraction is instinctual, and the justifications for "interfacing" are usually arrived at through ad hoc reasoning.

Ask any girl why they are with a man, if the relationship is authentic, then it will be predicated upon some derivation of "it felt right."

External Data: If we are seeing mass accretions of men clustering around specific observations of how women are behaving in aggregate, then shouldn't this be perceived as having a certain evidentary weight?

Internal Heuristics: I also can speak from the patterns I have observed in how women were drawn to me.

It's actually interesting how when a man pulls back from a woman manifesting certain signals, these women tend to lean into the dialogue, because they are emotionally feeding off the interaction itself.

Most Identity Politics (IDPOL) strife is derived from pervasive frame of reference issues.

I am not applying anything unique to women in general that I do not see having a similar effect on me. However because men and women (in aggregate) are hardwired differently, the effects of certain forms of social conditioning effect our respective cohorts differently.

Social Media necessarily has a pervasive and insidious effect on both of our cohorts.

But its innate ability to distort our perception of ourselves through algorithmic curated validation, necessarily will have an effect on female hypergamy.

Women aren't fish. So that doesn't make any sense and really highlights my point.

I was merely analogizing how the methodology used to catch fish looks different from the perspective of the pursued vs pursuers. Textbook epistemology.

The Catfish (individual woman) perspective of 'fishing' (dating) is necessarily going to be limited to its particular frame of reference.

The fisherman (man) is more likely to be in a better frame of reference to understand what it takes to be successful at fishing overall than the catfish.

The catfish's experience of fishing is going to be more limited towards what it specifically has experienced. (Unless an environmental catastrophe has occurred, i.e., economic or sociological (social media)).

Y'all don't see women as people, y'all see them as fish to catch.

Its incredibly niche and valid for a specific subset of women. I was not even endorsing looksmaxing in general, but in a visually focused (social media driven) dating landscape, I will concede that they have a general point when it comes to securing access to certain kinds of women.

No. I believe you think your argument is correct. I believe that you view dating as you being the lure/bait and trying to catch women.

There is literally a (admittedly subpar) dating site based on the dating idiom "Plenty of Fish" and you still want to pretend that the dating vs fishing paradigm is an illicit comparison? 🀑

Also hilariously badfaith interpretation (or you have really low reading comprehension)

With dating you would employ a different strategy for dating for a subset of women with niche hobbies or interests versus focusing on the generalist approach for women in general (most women in aggregate are interested in conventionally attractive men with resources or status).

Kind of like sportfishing for specific niche species looks vastly different from generalist fishing techniques.

So you're someone who chronically rates people online

I don't do it 24/7 but sure (and btw, I already have people asking me for feedback as we speak).

and you don't understand that your opinion is subjective and not universal?

Opinions are subjective. What I do isn't based on opinions, so this comment just makes no sense.

Also could you like, not hop onto threads just to do this stuff? lmao

[–]Wowhowcanubsodumb 0 points1 point2 points 1 week ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ok doing something chronically doesn't mean you have to do it 24/7 but good to know.

Yes yes what you do is so objective. All of you trueraters who have wildly different ratings at times, that doesn't mean anything because those OTHER people aren't using the science and data correctly. But when YOU rate someone, well you're sure to pore over the literature so you know exactly where people stand, and this rating is never at all based on your own personal preferences. Because the scientific literature SO VERY CLEARLY STATES the half point deductions necessary when the subject's zygomatic axis is 3 degrees off balance.

Anyway yeah sorry for jumping in this thread and shitting on you when you clearly know what you're talking about objectively. You definitely were not asking a stupid question that is very simply answered with "most other people view overweight individuals as less attractive than you do, and you obviously cannot see someone's bone structure underneath excessive fat, so there's no reason to postulate on what it could be, nor is there any reason to make some separate subreddit like amiuglyorjustfat"

but hey, maybe you think that's a niche that should be filled and if so, more power to you

[–]growframeNo Pill Man 0 points1 point2 points 1 week ago (1 child) | Copy Link

[–]zgtlunatic30/25/45 0 points1 point2 points 1 week ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

But picture someone that's overweight but at-least has a decent facial structure beneath. In most other cases, the person would pretty much be stuck where they're at (unless they get surgery of course, but that's kind of a meme if you ask me).

[–]Zestyclose_Truth9999woman|20s|married 0 points1 point2 points 1 week ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Because, more often than not, overweight people are unattractive.

The examples you’ve provided are outliers, who maintain a decent WHR. But, for every Ashley Graham, you likely have hundreds of people who'd look CONSIDERABLY more attractive at a lower weight.

[–]zgtlunatic30/25/45 0 points1 point2 points 1 week ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Point taken. But I'm speaking of overweight people that at-least have a good base of features beneath (not that rare of an occurrence).

Brian Kohberger is a good case study that disproves a lot of the unsupported narratives commonly espoused on this sub. He was known for being creepy and called out as such. Women had spot-on vibes about him, even though we're supposed to believe that only happens because men are ugly trolls and never due to any actually creepy behavior.

Does he look more like the guy in the top or bottom panel in that dumb HR call comic? He's 6' with bLuE eYeS yet... still a virulent dry-dicked misogynistic incel who everyone rightfully pegged, reported and avoided.

[–]fiftypoundpuppySpayed Old Maid | Hoet Laureate ♀ 0 points1 point2 points 1 week ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I think it's some of that for sure. I also think there's a bit of disingenuousness, cause I've seen too many people try to present male attractiveness as a bunch of checkboxes in order to call women delusional and hypergamous for disagreeing to accept so much nuance and context now. Men are the ones who have been insisting on breaking down attractiveness into meeting specific numbers and colors. Yet now that isn't the case when it goes against the manosphere narrative? Bit hard to believe that's genuine.

If this guy had posted to r/hinge saying he wasn't getting many matches, there would have been countless men there and here using him as an example of "runaway hypergamy," "hoeflation" and "female delusion." It would have been "even ChaAaAaD is struggling!! 😩😩" But now in this context of course he's a crazy looking super mid dude lmao

[–]Wowhowcanubsodumb 0 points1 point2 points 1 week ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I mean even in this photo he kinda looks like a gremlin. But sure sure you don't think he's attractive you just think the online men would definitely have been rallying around his struggles cause they would label him as a Chad. Say hi to princess fluffkins for me!

[–]fiftypoundpuppySpayed Old Maid | Hoet Laureate ♀ 0 points1 point2 points 1 week ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes, they absolutely would have labeled him a Chad. I'm not required to find him attractive to engage in basic pattern observation.

They think attractiveness for men is numbers and colors. They think merely having "the correct parts" is what makes men attractive and think it's reasonable to expect women to talk about men like men objectify women. This has been a consistent theme on this sub for years.

I have no idea who or what princess fluffkins is. All your reply did is reinforce exactly what I said originally.

[–]zgtlunatic30/25/45 1 point2 points3 points 1 week ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

A few good features aren't enough to make up for several others that are bad.

I've seen who you consider looksmatched and you greatly overrate men.

I don't personally find Kohberger attractive then or now, but according to how the men on this sub think men should be considered attractive (autistically broken down into a bunch of numbers and colors) then clearly he fits the requirements.

So no, I wouldn't "call every other individual 'Stacy' and 'Chad' 'in university areas'" or anywhere else.

>but according to how the men on this sub think men should be considered attractive (autistically broken down into a bunch of numbers and colors) then clearly he fits the requirements.

Depends on who you ask I guess but not really tbh. Height is like 20% of male physical attractiveness and iris colour maybe 3%? Facial bone structure and facial harmony are the most important factors and that's where he has too many flaws to be considered above average

[–]fiftypoundpuppySpayed Old Maid | Hoet Laureate ♀ 0 points1 point2 points 1 week ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Depends on who you ask

There's a fairly consistent consensus among the men on this sub, as I noted, that male attractiveness is numbers and colors. The numbers especially are correlated with their equally autistic concepts of "looksmatching" that ignores trivialities like sexual dimorphism because it's inconvenient to the framework.

Whatever your personal beliefs are, there's still a larger pattern on this sub of how male attractiveness "should" work, and on this basis women are frequently accused of having "runaway hypergamy," engaging in "hoeflation," and/or being delusional.

I very highly doubt I rated an unattractive guy as attractive. I am pretty clear when I say β€œChad is probably a guy who is 8 inches taller, a bit more facially attractive, and a bit fitter than β€˜Stacy’ on Tinder”. My definition couldn’t be more clear

[–]fiftypoundpuppySpayed Old Maid | Hoet Laureate ♀ 0 points1 point2 points 1 week ago (4 children) | Copy Link

You’re almost certainly the incorrect one.

Once again:

Of course you don't think you overrate anyone, everyone thinks their ratings are accurate. That's how that works

Your repeated emphasis and strong belief in the accuracy of your own subjective opinions is only compelling evidence to yourself.

I can’t think of any verbal disagreements of any ratings of mine, or other people who disagreed with me.

Most people don't care about some random Redditor's opinion, much less enough to challenge it. You're entitled to your opinion. Even I didn't say anything at the time, not because I agreed, but because it wasn't important to me that you had that opinion.

You probably just weren’t attracted to the guy in question or something, especially if other comments agreed with me on what I was saying

No one agreed with you about anything, no one replied to you at all. They probably read and scrolled past it like I did.

I don't have to be attracted to a guy to have an opinion about his looks. That's not how that works.

I remember when I first fell down the looks pipeline I would catfish as male models on dating apps. I had seen a lot of the β€œChadfishes”, but I didn’t believe it. Truthfully I refused to believe it. I thought my experience β€” a couple of likes and matches from women here and there β€” was the experience for all men.

I was genuinely so delusional.

I’m by no means ugly. I’ve had a lot of success both from one night stands, relationships etc. but nothing like what the catfish profile got.

One night I scheduled 4 hookups with 4 different women in the span of 30 mins. It was genuinely baffling. If I didn’t see it with my own eyes I wouldn’t believe it.

You could say that about every single interaction on any dating app.

The facts of the matter is that the catfish profile in every single metric outperformed my own. Amount of likes, amount of matches, response time from women, enthusiasm in response etc. the difference was so large that it became irrefutable evidence.

I’ll leave it at that since I am very certain you aren’t asking any of these questions in good faith. It sounds like you’re conjuring up an imaginary β€œwell, akchually non of it was real at all” scenario.

[–]MuscletovMaroon pill man 0 points1 point2 points 1 week ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

  • Women vastly underrate men lookswise

To some extent. Nature genuinely made women find most men unattractive, but nowadays there is a nurtured layer of extra harshness on top of that. Women are culturally fed that being overly harsh, disdainful, smug etc. about men, including their looks, is "empowering" and "just retribution".

  • Men overrate women lookswise

To some extent. Nature genuinely made men find most pre-menopausal women attractive in some way, but nowadays there is a nurtured cultural layer of extra benevolence on top of that. Not only are men are extra desperate due to women becoming harsher, they've also been taught that being overly harsh, demanding etc. about women is cruel and toxic.

  • Women vastly overrate other women lookswise

Yeah, mostly. Women are super in-group biased, both naturally and culturally, plus women have many tools available to increase their attractiveness.

  • Men rate other men correctly and fair

Nope, many men are delusional in one way or another about men's looks. Many over- or underestimate different aspects' impact for personal or cultural reasons.

Men. Obvs.

This has been the persistent theme of these claims in this sub for years. Only men know what is reasonable, attractive, accurate, and "fair"

Because men

[–]Lemon_geckoWoman (blue). I adopted the bear 1 point2 points3 points 1 week ago (2 children) | Copy Link

They also want to be graded by the curve as usual. The thought that they might be not that attractive in general is horrible. Only that doesn't works like that. If you bring me 10 not so fresh bananas, i wouldn't call them fresh because some are even worse.

[–]fiftypoundpuppySpayed Old Maid | Hoet Laureate ♀ 1 point2 points3 points 1 week ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah, but in the interest of "fairness" that's how attraction "should" work so not adhering to this is "unreasonable."

Whether I find most, or a significant amount of men attractive at a baseline varies significantly depending on location. Something as minor as a neighborhood change can affect this. I attended a couple of conferences recently and was surrounded by so many attractive men. But you put me at a comic book convention and I'm probably going to have the exact opposite experience.

Men here seem to think wherever you are, you ought to be attracted to the "average man" regardless.

There's a lot of nuance to it. We both know they are allergic to that

[–]Lemon_geckoWoman (blue). I adopted the bear 1 point2 points3 points 1 week ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]bondepartOG Red Pill Woman -1 points0 points1 point 1 week ago (2 children) | Copy Link

There’s no one answer I can give to that. I’d measure success as is the person happy with their transition. Safety is another thing, every trans person has to deal with feeling unsafe whether they pass or not.

[–]Colt_MasterBlue-red πŸŽπŸ‘ž law (Man) 2 points3 points4 points 1 week ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Safety is another thing, every trans person has to deal with feeling unsafe whether they pass or not.

Trans women who don't pass are unequivocally more at risk of being hatecrimed than someone who looks indistinguishable from a cis woman at a glance. And furthermore, they're also at lower risk of being hatecrimed if they don't socially transition at all and look indistinguishable from a cis man. Do you feel safe enough going out in woman's clothes? Would you too if you looked like a wide shouldered brick with a masculine skull?

In any case I praise your consistency, but I hope you can empathize that beyond self acceptance and body positivity, your bone structure does noticeably matter for some things

I’ve been non-passing and I’ve been passing, and whilst I agree that my safety has improved walking down the street to a certain extent, looking like a woman comes with its own fears about safety.

That’s why I said struggled not impossible. You also don’t get to see what this relationship is like so it’s not fair to make a conclusion from that. They could be very well happy in love or attracted to each other or they both could be secretly settling and resentful of each other. Having a relationship is only half the battle.

Bruh, it’s just called aging.

You want different things at 32 than you did at 22. That’s how normal life is. Most men at 32 aren’t parting and clubbing every weekend, they’re buying houses and starting families, so why are we pretending that’s β€œsettling” when most people start wanting a calmer pace of life at that age?

[–] Motor-Buy-6991 Man 0 points 1 point 2 points 1 week ago   (6 children) | Copy Link

Those β€œdifferent things” for women include a man she isn’t attracted to but can tolerate to raise a child with. It’s settling, most men aren’t partying and clubbing regardless of age. Especially Gen Z, clubs are even less popular.

[–]TankfarmMurdock 1 point2 points3 points 1 week ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women. Men tend to have much broader standards for what they consider attractive.

[–]ArrowdodgingaceArchery 🏹 pilled πŸ’Š man 2 points3 points4 points 1 week ago (17 children) | Copy Link

Women have tons of options to fake their appearance and enhance it. Men do not. Attractive traits for men are impossible to fraud without surgical intervention and even then there is a glass ceiling (ei a legitimate 2 cannot become a 6 or a 5).

Let me be clear, nothing wrong at all with women having lots of things in their arsenal to improve their ranking. I just wish they didn’t try to blame men for not doing their hair, skin, eyebrows, fashion or beard. The most a guy can really do is lose weight to reveal bones underneath. That’s it. If he has bad bone structure underneath he needs surgery full stop.

Softmaxxing is for chadlites who are already 80% of the way there. Not for Billy who gets 2 matches a week on tinder. It is what it is. Do softmaxxing for health purposes not to get laid.

[–]zgtlunatic30/25/45 0 points1 point2 points 1 week ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Two takes:

Women have tons of options to fake their appearance and enhance it.

Well that's one tenant. Imo Harmony, dimorphism and youth/health indicators are the indefinite deciders to attractiveness

I'd say if you were to be lacking in at-least two (or even lacking in one but everything else doesn't meet the standards), then it's highly likely that it will drop you to below average

Β I just wish they didn’t try to blame men for not doing their hair, skin, eyebrows, fashion or beard.

Problem is that these things are environmental. What really separates a model from an average or below average face are mostly genetic factors. Look at the threads I linked below to see what I mean

That’s it. I he has bad bone structure underneath he needs surgery full stop.

Erm, may not always work. Some facial imperfections (like having too close together or far apart eyes, or having a long midface/face-shape) aren't fixable via surgery. And as you've said, there a ceiling.

Softmaxxing is for chadlites who are already 80% of the way there. Not for Billy who gets 2 matches a week on tinder. It is what it is. Do softmaxxing for health purposes not to get laid.

Well there's a huge difference between being a man that looks the best out of at least every 60 guys and being a man that you'd see on a daily basis.

[–]zgtlunatic1 point 1 week ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Harmony and youth/health indicators are everything imo.

Woman is lacking both? At most the woman would be at a 4 regardless.

β€œLooksmaxxing? That’s really feminine and gay”

[–]bondepartOG Red Pill Woman 0 points1 point2 points 1 week ago (12 children) | Copy Link

What do you mean by β€œsoft maxxing”?

A guy can improve his appearance significantly with a good haircut, facial hair, skincare and makeup, dental care and good clothes. It’s absurd to suggest otherwise.

[–]ArrowdodgingaceArchery 🏹 pilled πŸ’Š man 0 points1 point2 points 1 week ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Yes you are right that he can improve his appearance doing that but not enough to actually get more matches and dates if he is struggling. Most women go for bone structure. None of those things you suggested can change or even fake that. Jeremy Meeks and plenty of others didn’t do those things and still had more women than most men ever will. The common denominator is bones along with fat distribution.

All those things will just make you a normal dude or an ugly dude with great hygiene. I wish it were that simple but I’m afraid it isn’t.

[–]bondepartOG Red Pill Woman 0 points1 point2 points 1 week ago (9 children) | Copy Link

I disagree wholeheartedly. I’ve dated older overweight guys who had great style and good facial hair.

A really well trimmed beard and can do wonders for the jawline.

A man can have good bone structure all he wants, if he looks dirty or dishevelled or has bad style it’s a no from me.

[–]ArrowdodgingaceArchery 🏹 pilled πŸ’Š man 1 point2 points3 points 1 week ago (8 children) | Copy Link

I really don’t understand why you are using yourself as an example here. We are talking about the average woman and what they respond to is a lot different.

A beard can never replicate a true strong jaw. Only hide a weak one. Also if his mid-face or eyes are the problem, beards cannot address that.

Bad style is entirely subjective and dirtiness is very easy to fix. Contrary to popular belief, there is no bad hygiene epidemic among men in first world countries. It’s just an easy scapegoat.

[–]zgtlunatic1 point 1 week ago [recovered] | Copy Link

[–]bondepartOG Red Pill Woman -2 points-1 points0 points 1 week ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Being stinky, having dirty or broken clothing, having no concept of moisturiser or conditioner…

There’s a reason gay men are more attractive and it has nothing to do with bone structure.

[–]ArrowdodgingaceArchery 🏹 pilled πŸ’Š man 0 points1 point2 points 1 week ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Average gay men are more attractive to other gay men. Take the average looking gay dude and make him straight and he will not pull nearly as much.

[–]bondepartOG Red Pill Woman -1 points0 points1 point 1 week ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Women dating hot men isn’t hypergamy, that’s the average.

God instilled the desire in males for sex so strong they’ll just be with a woman even tho she’s not giga Stacy. It’s not hypergamy on the woman’s part of the dude struggling, they just be happy together.

And it’s natural in most animals on earth.

Male Peacocks are more glamorous than female ones.

Male lions have manes and look fabulous compared to their boring ass female version.

It’s not hypergamy. It’s how nature work.

The men who claim β€œwhy is that hot dude with that mid girl! He can do better!”

Are actually porn brained. They’ve consumed so much porn their brains are fried that they think a double Ds tiny waist full face of makeup is the natural way women look.

And this is obviously even more present with the newer generation of males who literally grew up watching porn and Instagram.

Lines on a woman aren’t unattractive. It’s the skin texture, pigmentation, and lack of hydration and collagen/elastin that mainly make someone look older. This is often why 40-50 somethings getting Botox and fillers look uncanny. It’s because it blends horribly with the skin texture, dryness, and pigmentation we associate with aging. The only thing that can prevent that is a good broad spectrum sunscreen every day and reapply every 2 hours when you are 20 and preferably starting younger.

I know several men that insist men get better with age while women lose their appeal. When I ask them why is that they often say "men are wanted for resources and financial stability while women for their beauty". At the same time, these men are frustrated that the only younger women interested in dating them expect to be wined and dined in expensive restaurants and often lose interest when these men refuse to provide.

These men also insist that young men can't get relationships or sex because young women are only interested in hot rich men. I remember these guys from when they were younger. They weren't physically attractive but kept chasing good-looking women from a higher class. I don't remember any young man interested in dating that was having issues getting women with a similar looks from a similar background.

[–]competitive_moggerMan 3 points4 points5 points 2 weeks ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

The average woman is going to have a lot of options no matter what, even if it decreases a little when they get older. The narrative you're talking about is mostly a revenge fantasy, even if there's some truth to it. A woman's prime dating time could also be her 30s depending on the context.

For men it becomes easier if growing a full beard hides the flaws in your face, or if you put on muscle (which can take a while just for a mid physique). You can go from 0 options to popular in your 30s. Way less competition. Sometimes it takes that long for a man to develop confidence too.

it is heightism to try and shame short women into dating short men, how can it not be? why should a woman be forced or shamed into dating men they don't want to be simply because of her height?

"but she's his looksmatch!" in what universe is it law or a moral rule that we need to date our 1:1? especially regarding traits that are respective to each gender? should we shame bald dude into dating baldettes? i don't see any forums on here for that?

if heightism is discrimination because of height then women suffer from it just as much as short guys especially FROM short guys.

if they want us to take heightism seriously then we'll have to take all forms of heightism seriously, not just being rejected by a date for it.

[–]fiftypoundpuppySpayed Old Maid | Hoet Laureate ♀ -1 points0 points1 point 2 weeks ago (2 children) | Copy Link

It's just typical market manipulation tactics. Shortness doesn't nerf a woman's sex appeal like it does for men so they try to portray this as a moral grievance to pressure short women into feeling superficial for being sexually attracted to the same traits every other straight woman is.

If men wanted "heightism" to be taken seriously as a concept they would have to avoid trying to center it around entitlement to getting their dicks wet, which they are largely completely incapable of doing because that's really their primary focus at the end of the day. They would also be more amenable to the female side of it and being taken less seriously etc. instead of driving them all out of r/short with their bitter impotent raging at women.

Instead, "heightism" is nothing more than a trite Motte-and-Bailey taking a legitimate concept about competency and power attributed to physical traits in professional and platonic social dynamics and trying to make women villains for sexual dimorphism

I get my dick wet anyway, but there is the legitimate fact that tall men get hired more easily and earn more money.

Indeed, I wonder if the US failure to elect a woman president is really just an extension of heightism. Jimmy Carter and Harry Truman at 5'9" are the only US presidents of the last 100 years to be less than 5'10". On the other hand, European countries like the UK and Italy that have elected female heads of government have also elected shorter-than-average men in recent times.

I don't the US is any more ready for a male president the same height as Hillary Clinton (5'5") or Kamala Harris (5'4.5") than it is for a woman of those heights. Maybe Janet Reno should have tried to become the first woman president instead.

I think women are taken less seriously for a variety of reasons, many unrelated to size or height. I do think there is some effect for a woman's height to be correlated with authority/power/beauty - it is interesting to me that both Melania Trump and Michelle Obama are exceptionally tall women, but Kamala Harris/Hillary Clinton as you noted along with Jill Biden and Laura Bush are more or less average height. Many of the most popular/prominent female politicians aren't particularly tall either. It would be interesting to see on average how they rank but I'm not sure I'd expect to see a particularly strong correlation there because stature in general just doesn't seem as relevant to the popularity of women.

This matters especially more for things like public interactions and debates. It's pretty expected that the women candidates will be shorter but if you have a short man running against average or tall men then unfortunately in the public view that is going to be a disadvantage off the bat, no matter what the policies/politics/oratory skills.

I'm not particularly convinced merely being average height would be a significant disadvantage here but that all depends on the candidate pool. If all the other candidates were noticeably taller then maybe his positioning would take a hit. But if you have one 6'2" guy among a bunch of 5'9-5'10" men then I don't think it's going to really make a noticeable difference in how they are perceived relative to each other. OTOH I do think a shorter man in this specific lineup would take a hit credibility-wise due to his relative stature.

I also don't think any aspiring or floated female presidential candidate has ever been electable. I'm not convinced Hillary's gender nerfed her as much as her association with Bill and overall lack of charisma. I suspect she's some kind of neurodivergent. And in general the mood of the country isn't really amenable to it regardless.

I honestly don't know enough about Reno aside from Clinton due to my age. I remember her being made fun of a lot for her appearance. That alone IMO would have shut down any serious presidential aspirations, especially in the 90s era of Baywatch etc.

Movies and Film are typically not casting Gigastacies. Particularly since Weinstein and the casting couch crew got popped. It has been speculated this is because Women have to relate to Female leads to get interested in a movie. Or because of just raw jealousy.

this is obviously true. Many Male movie stars are utter male model tier gigachads as compared to Sydney Sweeney and Zendaya who get mogged regularly by Women at the Starbucks.

plenty of women will reject a chad because he broke some rules, but since he's chad eventually he'll find a woman who'll say yes.

If they actually deliberately hide it (which I doubt honesrly) I guess they would hope that it incentivizes men of both groups to follow their rules.

If attractive men were straight up told the rules don't apply to them then they just wouldn't follow them.

And if unattractive men were told the truth they might stop following them if they perceive it be unfair and humiliating.

Men seem to be influenced by boob size or dat ass and expect women to have the same attraction for their male parts.

So much of the looksmax discussion is men being upset that women don't reduce men to the sum of their parts, the same way that men do to women.

And they seem very jealous that men view women attractive based on their sexual attributes and women don't do the same. They ultimately want women to view them the same way as men.

They think that there's nothing cooler than being desired because you have a penis.

Is plastic surgery in a woman a turnoff? Dating a woman who’s had work done has kind of changed my opinion on the subject.

If the average man can tell there's been work done, probably

[–]fiftypoundpuppySpayed Old Maid | Hoet Laureate ♀ 2 points3 points4 points 2 weeks ago* (8 children) | Copy Link

Obviously I'm not a man but idk, to me it almost always makes them look unattractive, just in a different way than before. There are rare exceptions (like this woman, who has also had a nose job that optimized her looks really well) but for the most part it just makes them look fake and uncanny valley. And sometimes takes away the character of their face.

If you're talking bodywise then I don't have a strong opinion on that. Lipo usually "looks" okay I guess but without exercise or diet it looks weird I think overall (like having big flabby arms and legs but a smooth tummy?? Lol who is shaped like that). I've still never seen breast implants that look and move like real boobs and probably never will, it's just not how they can be structured unless we go straight to putting actual fat into boobs (which I'm assuming isn't done for a good reason).

[–]Poppy_LuvvWoman: biting holes in condoms 1 point2 points3 points 2 weeks ago (5 children) | Copy Link

You're underestimating just how much good subtle work is done tbh, most celebs have had at least one procedure done. Marilyn Monroe had a nose job, chin implant and browlift in the 50s.

Most obvious work that looks worse is bad/poorly done or seeking something too far outside the natural base. And nowadays a lot of work looks bad because it's filler vs actual tissue work.

[–]fiftypoundpuppySpayed Old Maid | Hoet Laureate ♀ 0 points1 point2 points 2 weeks ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

I already linked an example of what I consider very good plastic surgery. I stand by my assertion most of it is obvious and makes a woman's appearance worse or just unattractive in a different way. I've looked at literal before/afters on actual surgeon sites, so I'm not just oversampling poor work. These are supposed to be their best work, and it's still unnatural looking.

And if most of the work that is done is filler work vs "actual tissue" then my observations are still correct that most plastic surgery is obvious and makes a woman unattractive, just in a different way. The fact that there might be better, more natural looking ways of doing things doesn't mean much if most women are still doing the more obvious methods. This is glaringly obvious especially when they don't wear makeup, they mostly look like Billy the Puppet. It's really bizarre and odd looking.

It also stands to reason if the women with access to the best plastic surgeons still end up looking like this, then there probably isn't some secret conglomerate of well-done plastic surgery I'm just not noticing. Lindsay Lohan, Megan Fox, Lady Gaga, all of the housewives, several female politicians... I'm to believe they are all just somehow getting the "wrong kind" of plastic surgery?? That kind of stretches the limits of plausibility.

We can agree to disagree.

[–]Poppy_LuvvWoman: biting holes in condoms 0 points1 point2 points 2 weeks ago (3 children) | Copy Link

But before and afters of what procedures? How recent, what city where they in?

Plastic surgery being visible is often a choice by both the surgeon and patient. There's a whole sociological aspect to this, people go in knowing the results will be obvious and even wanting that. Like girls in Iran want whoville noses. The girls in LA want Kylie Jenner lips. The girls in Miami want that BBL diaper booty etc. Which is why even before and afters on surgeons own sites are not necessarily "best of" examples in terms of naturalistic results.

My mother had a nose job a teen, years before I was around. I truly had no idea and no one would ever clock it despite it being a huge change. And that's normal, most nose jobs are unclockable without a before. There's some procedures that are very obvious just due to the nature of them, and others that unless push beyond designed intent will become invisible.

[–]fiftypoundpuppySpayed Old Maid | Hoet Laureate ♀ 0 points1 point2 points 2 weeks ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Nose jobs vary more, sure. Many of those aren't ethnically congruent and will be way more obvious than streamlining a bump or something. I'm not sure if I can confidently agree that "most" are unclockable but I will agree that it has more variance of realism than a lot of other procedures.

I've looked at various things over the years just as tangents to other things that I've been reading about. I don't have an exhaustive list of every single doctor, place, or procedure, or date and honestly all of that seems a little unreasonable to expect me to have memorized; catalogued; and be able to recite back to you. It's not a full-time job of mine, it is my impression from the feelings I've had across the sum of my lifetime of what I've seen across decades. Most of it involves the face or breast jobs, I haven't really looked at BBL stuff. I'm assuming I've only looked at American doctors, I can't possibly give you cities.

And I'm not just talking about "girls in LA," I'm not the only one who has noticed the exact same Billy the Puppet plastic surgery face regardless of location. As per my previous comment, I also mentioned politicians and housewives. They mostly gravitate towards the same pointy cheek filler and rubbery duck lip combo. I don't know if I agree that all of these women collectively are trying for "obvious" looking plastic surgery. Outside of porn/sex-work adjacent categories and select Gen Z it girls like Kylie Jenner, who is lauding "obvious" looking plastic surgery??

[–]Poppy_LuvvWoman: biting holes in condoms 0 points1 point2 points 2 weeks ago (1 child) | Copy Link

"Ethnic" nose jobs are entering that "beyond the designed intent" territory in that, it's only recently that there's more thought and training around it. Most doctors come of out school only having been taught the standard based on white features and white beauty ideals. With that said, Beyonce has had at least one nose job, and it 'refined' her nose in a way that respected the natural shape of her nose.

Of course that's unreasonable, but if that's not your knowledge base, you can't really claim that plastic surgery is obvious at the baseline. These are examples of actual custom jaw implants, they are utterly invisible results. When the patient's facial harmony is respected by a doctor who cares about the outcome, you're just not gonna be able to tell. It will just look like their own face.

Fillers are really not plastic surgery and they're use has gotten way out of hand and they're used for things they're not even approved for. A big reason people look weird, beyond not respecting their own face and trying to look like something else - is that a gel is not going to act like bone or muscle. Fillers are not plastic surgery they're a cheaper alternative.

And that's why I'm harping on this. Plastic surgery doesn't work because when people get fillers it looks bad- that's conflating two separate things. If someone has a deficiency of bone, and you add something analogous to bone it can look good. If you add gel, it will look weird. If a muscle is weak and you repair it, it will look good. If a fat pad as herniated and you repair it, it will look good.

And again, that the sociological aspect to this. The desire to look beautiful, to look younger, to read as part of the in-group and gain access to the benefits. Looking natural is a totally separate desire and value system. The very act of getting work done can also shake your sense of self to the degree you go down the BDD path.

[–]fiftypoundpuppySpayed Old Maid | Hoet Laureate ♀ 0 points1 point2 points 2 weeks ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm perfectly allowed to have an opinion about plastic surgery without having gone to medical school. I find your demands for some sort of medical training and expertise in order to observe with my own eyes and form opinions accordingly wholly unreasonable and unrealistic. I don't have to be an artist to have an opinion on good or bad art. I don't have to be a musician to have an opinion on good or bad music. I don't have to be a plastic surgeon to have an opinion on good or bad plastic surgery.

I also don't think Beyonce has gotten a nose job. I find accusations that she has pretty ignorant themselves as to the variations in the appearance of ethnic noses depending on smiling and other facial positioning along with the angle of the photo. It's extremely obvious to me that she has always had the same nose.

I'm not going to break down all eleventy million possible plastic surgery procedures or care about parsing a distinction between what you personally consider the realm of plastic surgery or not. It's like when someone nitpicks about the difference between an insect or a bug. Once again, it's not that deep to me. I could modify my opinion and say "most of the most common plastic surgery procedures are obvious and make women look unattractive in different ways" but I'm sure you'd nitpick about that too. Oh well 🀷🏿

If you have a problem with bad plastic surgery, that's fine but IDK what arguing with me about it is going to accomplish. All I did was give my opinion on what I've seen and observed.

Maybe go message those doctors or something? Email the board of plastic surgeons? I didn't do anything you're talking about so whatever grievances or hangups you have about this topic have really nothing at all to do with me. I'm not making those women have BDD and I'm not the one pressuring them to "look beautiful." I'm also not concerned about whatever they want to "gain access" to - play stupid games, win stupid prizes. If you're going to be irrational and use your looks for all of your value instead of understanding the basic reality that a 50-year-old can only look good for 50, never look like a 20-year-old then you're either stupid or delusional. Women who provide for themselves without using a depreciating asset don't have these problems.

My girl has her lips done and a bbl and since she went to a good surgeon, you’d never know.

I think keeping things proportional is key, her butt looks great but she’d look weird with a giant fake diaper butt.

Idk man, lip filler by nature puts more into the lips than the skin was meant to hold and seems to give it an unnatural puffy texture/appearance. It takes the natural creases and nooks and crannies out. I've never seen a before/after that I couldn't clock.

But sometimes BBLs can look natural like Doechii 🀷🏿

Are looks posts actually banned? I’ve seen several of them and they haven’t been taken down despite being reported.

I could make looks posts every week, but I don’t because I know that mine would be taken down.

[–]competitive_moggerMan 3 points4 points5 points 2 weeks ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They pick and choose tbh.

[–]Lift_and_LurkMan: all pills are dumb 1 point2 points3 points 2 weeks ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Looks posts are allowed here in this weekly.

[–]Logos1789Man 2 points3 points4 points 2 weeks ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I understand that. I’m referring to normal posts about looks

Why the heck the villains in media tend to have a cool design, while the heroes look like your basic everyday person that blends in to the background?

[–]Just_Alternative3167Man 1 point2 points3 points 2 weeks ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

So that the hero is relatable obviously

[–]Gold_Sheepherder6569No Pill man 2 points3 points4 points 2 weeks ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Villains are meant to be intimidating so they end up looking cool

Examples? I don't get that impression from the media I consume

Disney - Jafar, Dr. Facilier, Clayton

Final fantasy 15 - Ardyn

My Country: The New Age - Yi Bang-won

Ace attorney - Godot, Barok van Zieks

Yakuza 7 - Ishioda, Tendo

Clair obscur - Reinor

Red dead redemption 2 - Dutch

[–]Colt_MasterBlue-red πŸŽπŸ‘ž law (Man) 0 points1 point2 points 2 weeks ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ace Attorney and Yakuza have flamboyant characters that support the hero like Trucy and Majima respectively, and both also have at least some major villains that are meant as the protagonist's counterpart like Edgeworth or the one from Yakuza 2 and thus got similar design. The other ones of those that I know I consider in-between a reach, and to the extent they aren't a reach, that they only apply to the protagonists the audience is meant to relate to and thus got a more grounded appearance and not the whole cast of heroes

New(this year) study on how height, penis(flaccid) size and a v taper influence male attractiveness assessment by women and fighting ability assessment by men.

As a lot of you might expect more height, a bigger penis size and more of a v taper influence were rated as more attractive by women and all three were also rated by men as more physically formidable(including a bigger penis). Men were also more jealous of the men who had more height, a bigger penis size and more of a v taper.

Greater penis size was also more attractive to women online while height was more attractive offline with the most attractive height being 185cm(6'1) but 190cm(6'2) was still more attractive than 5'11. The same applies to v-taper it was more attractive in person than online. A positive takeaway here is that gymcelling does work especially if you use in-person approach.

Edit: Something interesting as well is that fatter(higher BMI) women were more attracted to bigger penises and taller men rated guys with more v-taper as having more fighting ability.

Interestingly according to the study body shape is the most important factor of the three by a fair amount. In IRL it's king, linear selection gradient of 1 compared to both height and dick size being 0.25. The online women though however are somehow short king loving size queens so it ends up body shape 0.77, height 0.11, dick size 0.52

(Linear selection gradient = a standard deviation increase of one in that measure corresponds with the specified amount of standard deviation increase in attractiveness)

Online women allegedly don't mind you having a porn actor build lol (short so that your big dick stands out more)

It fits the idea of being able to accurately assess if a man is promiscuous/sexually successful by asking yourself β€œcan he beat me up”.

I haven’t really heard many women offline saying they don’t care about muscle/physique. It’s mostly online talk ime.

I'm not tall, but I have a big dick.

If I were in online dating today rather than happily off the market, I would joke that I may look like I'm 5'7", but I'm actually 6'2.5", and you just have to get to know me a little better to experience the other 7.5".
