I'm not single, but when I was last dating I made a concerted effort to stick to a set of standards which I thought were quite high.

I did this because in the past, I'd always ignored red flags in favour of looks (and it never turned out well).

If you'd let me pick my ideal, it would be something between 5' & 5'6. It's just so cute when your woman is small. But again, taller (or shorter) than that height range is acceptable to me.

Don't care. It's more about intelligence to me, which inevitably correlates with income to some degree. A woman doesn't have to be in a high earning position, she simply has to be smart enough (roughly the same range as me) to have meaningful conversations. A relationship can't work if one partner is significantly smarter than the other. I'm fine with being a bit smarter, or her being a bit smarter... but we should be close enough where it doesn't really become a detracting factor. Education wise, I'd say a bachelor (or higher) is a pretty good standard, but if you're an intelligent person without a degree but have your life in order & created good opportunities for yourself, then a degree isn't a big deal.

With a bit of introspection I came up with a list of my standards. I've been flexible on these before but my ideal woman would fulfill all of the following (percentages listed for women in my country in the age demographic I date within, 20-24). I've tried to keep it to things that can be measured more objectively, as abstract measures like "attractiveness", "ambition", etc., because they're less useful for discussion.

PHYSICAL:

No tattoos, excessive piercings/body mods (87% of women 18-25 do not have tattoos)

Height doesn't matter to me in the slightest, but on dating apps I tend to match with women over 6ft tall. I have no problem dating women who are much shorter.

HISTORY OF ADHERENCE TO THE STANDARDS:

I've not always stuck to these standards. For example, the last two people I dated:

An obese women with mental illnesses, who smoked, was in debt, earned very little, and had an extremely promiscious past (both in the kinds of things she did, as well as an absurd number of previous partners, even by sex-positive standards). She often stopped taking her medication for her mental problems which made things worse.
A woman who didn't earn anything, had some mental problems, and wasn't perfectly fluent in English. Even though she didn't meet a few standards they weren't barriers at all - she wasn't earning anything because she was studying for a Master's degree (big positive!), she was remarkably good with dealing with her mental problems, and she had just moved to this country to study and was picking up the gaps in her English very quickly. I live in the cheap Midwest so on income. Minimum 35k. Maximum no limit. I would be cool with being a stay at home dad if she made 150k or more. More importantly is how she spends money. Does she spend less than she makes. Know how to live amongst her means. Does she recklessly take on debt or make investments. My wages vary working construction. Unless she is okay with me hitting the road the economy controls hours available. With the same career I’ve made as low as 35k a year but up to 120k. On average 75k.

Height is dependent on if she wants children. I can’t risk dooming a son any shorter than me at 5’11. So the men from her family would have to be of similar height or taller. Doesn’t want kids. Any height will do.

Race. Any race is fine. I do find some more likely to be attracted to but I have at some point in my life had a crush on every ethnicity. This also might be based on the demographics where I live. As in the frequency in which I meet women of each race. I am Caucasian.

Body type. You gotta appear healthy. I’ve dated women who were a strong 115lbs all the way the way up to 180lbs with no gut or love handles. They just carried weight really well. I’m 225lbs with a flat stomach currently. I spend about 8 hours a week at the gym and normally work 40 hours at a labor intensive job.
