I called it off shortly after. She went bizerk! Tried to keep me around, eventually faking a pregnancy and later a "miscarriage".

Ones that think you are their knight in shining armor. When she comes to you and you are the only reason why her day is ok, you feel like a super hero. But rest assured, that moment when you can't be there or fuck up or have to go on a business trip, is when her dependency on you springs a whole new level of crazy. From personal experience, when you feel like they are dependent on you to smile (read: to live), that's when you need to severe all ties. Hopefully it never gets to that point. It's a bad place for both persons.

That said, girls who smoke cigarettes and enjoy whiskey or scotch have always been a little crazy, in my opinion. Also, their occupation is usually a dead giveaway. I dated an artist or two in my day, and they were by far the craziest girls I've dated. Also, writers can be pretty nuts too. All of them enjoyed cigarettes and scotch, go figure.

Crazy is usually easy enough to handle. As long as she knows her place in the relationship and feels cared for/understood, you can mitigate the vast majority of psychotic episodes before they even begin. Most people go batshit when they feel like they're unable to communicate properly, so they lash out in grand displays in an attempt to be understood. But if you listen to them, if you're calm and resolute, if you're able to understand objectively rather than take offense, you might just get through to them and see the person behind the nutjob.

Unless you've got a real Jodi Arias type on your hands, that is... In which case, keep a gun handy and don't let her know where it is.

What's funny is that a lot of Seddit tips work not only to show that you're not needy but also that you're not crazy. My first girlfriend (for a month; no sex unfortunately) told me she loved me within the first few times we made out. She would also text me A LOT. I mean, it's one thing to text jokingly and playfully or to see what we're doing later. But, I would get the most mundane texts. Shit like "going to the grocery store with Mom" or "watching TV". Why do I need to know your everyday happenings?

This was like 3 years ago, yet I still get random texts from her. Stuff like "what's up?" or "how are you doing?" I feel like you would get the message after the first few times I ignored your texts. And don't me get started on her text signatures. Ugh, the signatures. She changes that shit like every few days. I would get some texts with the signature "I miss him so much".

Before, when I was really desperate, my bros would be like "you should hit dat; she obviously wants your D". As a horny, sexually-frustrated dude, I was actually considering it too. Then, one weeknight, I didn't turn off my cellphone's sound, because I figured no one would be bothering me. Around 2AM, when I'm trying to get my motherfucking sleep, my loud-ass cell goes off. I got a text from her: "hi". Maybe I was just really cranky being woken up but I resolved then and there that there was no chance in hell I was talking or sleeping with someone who decides it's suitable to bother me so late at night.

I'm a girl, and I've dated a few others. I can't stick a dick anywhere, obviously, but I do have some advice to avoid crazies. You start talking to a girl, ask her on a date, whatever. Look for use of subtle manipulations and fishing for compliments. Also, all of her attention will be focused on you. I realize that if you're on a date this isn't really helpful, but say you're in a group of people (friends, family, school lunchroom, etc.). She will be totally focused on you, wanting to single you out from the rest of the group, and will often pretend the other people in the group aren't there or will be mean. Also, if another girl tries to talk to you, they may get pissy about it in a territorial way, even if it's your sister or their best friend.

This will go against the crowd here but my view is that there is no 'crazy'.

There are girls who will react to guys that treat them in a certain way, there are guys who will not be able to manage that reaction. However, I've been with many girls who have real issues (and many girls that don't) and I've found that the main difference between the two is that those with issues want to talk.

Now, many on here would prefer to bang, then get out. This is where the issue arises in that these girls don't just want sex, they want someone to talk to. As just said most want to bang and hence most here will find problems when they bang a girl that wants to talk.

Hence, the answer to your question is: don't bang a girl that want's to talk about issues. These are not necessarily weak girls, and these are not necessarily girls that won't be totally open about wanting sex. The important factor is to find out what they want after.

It's all getting a bit long now so in short: if you think the girl wants to talk about issues don't bang unless you're happy to talk about the issues.

Bang girls because you enjoy your time with them and because they enjoy their time with you. Don't put yourself in a position to offer what you don't want to give.

If she tries to run your social life - The point of relationships has been lost recently I think, with a lot of people thinking that you're supposed to spend as much time with them as possible and become a married couple. For the sake of your sanity and safety, do not let them in that far that quickly. You should both have your own social lives and things going on that don't involve each other. Don't let her tell you to stop seeing someone, if she's not crazy, she'll talk to you and not command you.
Always wear a rubber. Too many fake pregnancy stories on this post to count so save the drama and always wear a rubber, don't believe her bullshit that she's on the pill. There are women out there who want a child and not the father, don't be that guy.

Most of all just pay attention, trust your intuition and don't let it get pushed aside completely by horniness. She'll usually give you the signs.

Also, I've found the harder to f-close a girl is and the longer it takes, the more clingy she'll be if you succeed. High barrier to entry generally means she has put up some walls; you don't necessarily want to find out what's behind them.

This is a pretty specific story but. I moved into a new apartment complex. I had saw the girl once, she is my upstairs neighbor. My first night there she comes down asking me if I heard noises in the walls (like a squirrel or something.)

This is a list I use from experience when dating a new girl. I've stuck my dick in crazy. Never again.

Does she have friends or has she been one to frequently change styles, appearance, or group of friends often?

Does she ever seem to have sudden mood swings (all women sure but I'm talking more along the lines of bi polar)

Is her apartment clean. This one can go either way but use discretion - some girls are just messy, if it looks like it can be cleaned up and look nice I'm okay with it, if it's a sense of perma-mess, I tend to avoid.

Does she have hobbies or is her primary directive to get a boyfriend? All work and no play makes jack a dull boy... But seriously if she's just sitting at home wondering what you're doing you're probably gonna be in for trouble.

Having no friends; some people can function with limited social contact, but if they have literally no close relationships to confide in, bitch about their relationship issues to, get feedback on their own behavior, they're in a weird situation. This isn't an end-all-be-all but it is a red flag to watch out for.
Unable to hang out/go on dates with just the two of you. I met someone who always invited me over to hang out with him and his friends. He would decline to get coffee or anything else. It took me a couple weeks to realize this was rather strange. Talking to another friend of his I found out he's rather awkward when he's not around people he knows. That fact explained a lot of his behavior.
Segue from 2. He's uncomfortable meeting your friends and hanging out with them. My understanding is if they're a good catch then other people, especially those who share similar values to you (i.e. friends), will approve of them as well.
Only inviting you to hang out past 10PM, perhaps at their place usually means one thing. If you want something more then the other person will show genuine interest in meeting you outside of booty-call hours.
The occasional drunk text is fine. But when it becomes a habit, even leaving drunken voice-mails at 3AM, this person might have a problem. Moreover the ones who only become emotionally vulnerable while drunk says they have trouble handling their emotions while sober. Getting more serious with this person usually involves a lot of weird drama. One guy texted me at 2:30 AM with, "come suck my dick". Then went on a diatribe about how I'm a terrible person and he was helping me by calling me out on it. We hooked up once, with the understanding it was a hookup. He then proceeded to text me pictures of himself at random times, saying I wasn't a good friend (because he wanted more from what I found out), and was literally pining for me when I didn't know very much about him.
The person who only complains about their friends, their previous dates, etc never matching up. The holier-than-thou attitude says they are in denial or unable to recognize their own shortcomings. I had to end a friendship for this reason. I found out through another acquaintance that they had experienced something similar and had said something. The guys response was, "I'm spontaneous". No, you're fucking inappropriate.
Flakiness and/or just-not-that into you but stringing you along because it's an ego boost. Hit it and forget it IMO.
Creepiness. Texting you on multiple dating sites, talking about sex right off the bad, showing up at your house because you didn't pickup the phone, etc. RED FLAGS abound.
"I hate drama" are usually the ones who experience most of it or cause most of it. Stay away!!
Emotional clinginess: texting you good morning, goodnight, asking you to text to make sure you got home safe, etc. Says this person is unable to be by themselves and requires constant attention and affirmation. I told someone I knew for a week, "I'm sorry I don't feel much chemistry between us." "You don't even know my favorite color!"
Lying. You won't know they're lying for a bit but when things don't start adding up be more wary. One guy told me he slept with someone else to get revenge on me, then said the guy had AIDS. Then months later said he was being stalked and almost assaulted by someone who I knew. WTF? He also had a cousin who worked for the telecom company, stalked my text messages, and sent pictures of me to other people I was talking to.

I have so many more awkward stories. I've even unintentionally been the crazy one due to emotional hangups. But I've lived and learned and adjusted when the issues were apparent or broached by other people. Dating is fun, weird, funny, awkward, and everything else in between. It's hard finding someone who complements you but at the very least you get to know exactly what you want and what you don't want after all the encounters.

IMO the best advice is to gradually get to know someone. If they're interested, they can wait to seal the deal. You'll get to know them during the time and make the appropriate call.

When she tells you about her problems before she really even knows you well enough to know you aren't just some creep ("I was molested/raped; my last bf cheated on me with an under-aged girl; I'm on medication for such and such."). It pays to listen and heed her warnings.
