Softmaxxing literally doesn’t work for men who are struggling. It’s all bone structure and height. Telling men to have a skincare routine, dye their eyebrows, or groom their hair is all fine and dandy but doesn’t translate to dating success at all and is like polishing a turd.

The reason is that women don’t find youth inherently attractive in men. Sure you’ll get reddit women insisting that they do and every other woman does, but that’s literally not what I’ve seen or experienced. They go for genetic fitness and traits that are among the best of the best. Everyone can be young. Not everyone can have model tier bones without surgery or a miracle.

I've been struggling to put it into words but it's great to see it come straight from the horse's mouth. This performative negging gimmick has been very strange. It's not RP-motivated negging. One thing I've noticed on this sub is that some people love making equivalences where none exist and don't really understand the concept of rejection. You cannot reject someone who doesn't want you.

All these made up scenarios where short, unattractive men reject unattractive or obese women as a gotcha to prove that men reject women on a large scale don't mean much if those women weren't interested in them in the first place. If there were actually women showing interest in those men and they rejected them, then that would count as rejection. Otherwise, it doesn't really mean anything.

How much more attractive are men than the women who are physically attracted to them? What are the most mutually enthusiastic tradeoffs?

The first thing out the door is height. Men don’t mind shorter women as much, especially for sex, and women like “tall guys”. Since a 6 inch height difference is a looks match, an 8”+ height difference is preferred. I’m unclear on what the maximum typical preferred height difference is because I’m only 5’10”, but a 4’11” woman wouldn’t mind my height.

The next thing to go is fitness. Men don’t mind scrawny women, but women like a guy who isn’t too scrawny. There probably are limits for how buff a guy should be, but he likely won’t reach them unless he takes steroids.

After that is the most important part: facial attractiveness. The better looking he is, the better the results, with nearly no limits. There are subjective differences in what different people like to see in “Chad’s” face at the top end (e.g. Chris Hemsworth vs. Henry Cavill). Guys don’t like sacrificing facial attractiveness at all. They probably just tend to prefer to be taller & fitter than a woman’s looksmatch.

Society tends to describe a “player” socially as a guy who is 8” taller & a bit more facially attractive & a bit fitter than a woman. I think if a woman refers to a guy as “player”, then she’d probably kiss him if he hanged out with her for a few hours.

If guys aim below the women who call them “player” socially, I think this is where sex starts to become close to instant as a topic (within a few sentences on Tinder). “Giga Chads” (male models?) can act like this towards desirable women

In the top percentiles is where you see red pillers mention that guys get stalked for sex & can cheat on women without their partners caring. D1 athletes can probably easily get away with this

Having a polarizing appearance is a curse. Some women find me irresistible and some women think I'm ugly and the only way to know which one it is is to shoot my shot. But my methods are bold due to knowing that some women will find me attractive. When it's a women that thinks I'm attractive, it's great. I get laid. Everyone wins. When it's a woman that thinks I'm ugly, they act like I'm a creep. 🙃

OTOH, the composer Ramin Djawadi was equally hot during the PoI era. I didn't even realize he was also the composer for Game of Thrones too but now that I know that it definitely makes sense. The vibes are similar. Anecdotally IME composers have been pretty good-looking, not sure why.

Anyone else here from Europe feel like Americans are oddly obsessed with height? Like they overemphasize its importance for male attractiveness in the gender/dating discurse?

I'll be honest, if I hadn't been sucked into American internet forums from a young age, I probably wouldn't even have 'found out' about height being apparently important in dating until much later in life. For instance, I have never seen a dating app profile from a woman here in Germany that said sth like "must be X height", ever. I have never noticed a correlation in real life that tall guys would get more girls or have pretter girlfriends or anything like that (usually it's average height guys with a good face card and an attractive personality who have the most sucess). Hell, my own dad is shorter that my mom and I've never thought about it as weird or unusual growing up or heard anyone comment on it, ever.

Not to say height doesn't matter all, but imo/e being tall is just an attractive 'bonus' trait like broad shoulders or a particularly sharp jawline, and not the be-all end-all (not even close) like American inkwells make it out to be.

Then in the US there suddenly spawned a height craze on social media for whatever reason. I guess height is better suited as a 'status symbol' than other traits cause it's so objectively quantifiable and immediately visible.. But unless I'm living under a rock it's not the same at all outside the US or at least where I live.

This dude on Instagram is the best dude makeover account I’ve seen. He has a woman’s eye. Meaning he sees ✨the potential✨. This is basically how I made over my first boyfriend 😭

He focuses on how the guy presents/comports, how he styles, and if necessary, fitness and well being. And he does it all how I did it. Aka without the bullshit toxicity of “lookists” and “maxing” and general male aggyness. Just good old fashioned old school makeover lol.

He also retakes their online dating profile pics for them.

Example 1:

This guy struggled attracting women (and probably “cool” male friends) because he presents and comports like a lame. Like a nerd or cornball. He seems like a great guy. Just not sexy because of that the lame factor.

TLDR: Most “average guys” aren’t ugly or doomed as forever unattractive. They’re either not optimizing. Or they’re not introspecting enough to optimize in the correct areas.

I'm thinking about a way convos about looks always go wrong here. A gender says that B gender are only attracted to the most conventionally attractive people of the opposite sex. Someone replies, "not me, I'm into average-looking people of the opposite sex!" The original poster usually then takes some tact that shows that they can't believe this is true, whether it's that they don't know what average is, they're being performative, etc.

The problem is, when you're attracted to someone, clearly they're not 'average' to you. We don't have to be completely subject to beauty standards and we often aren't when we develop feelings for someone. When you say "that's not true, I like ugly men/women", obvi you're being rhetorical, but at some point it's like--why are you calling them ugly?

I don't know why that is the number all men are focused on, but to me it's just a man. Tall starts from 6'3 at least.
