Atlas has pointed out that she thinks currently, big tits are associated with obesity. I think she might be right about it.

Matt Forney postulates the current male obsession with asses, PAWGs (phat ass white girls) and JLo/KimK is because of a primitive, base sex drive focused on animalistic, atavistic rutting. (Bend her over the table and rawdog her doggie style.) It's about sexual behavior at its most degenerate. He also says it's a direct influence of hip hop/urban culture on the rest of American culture, which Forney says continues to degenerate.

This is probably where the current "love" of anal as the Holy Grail of sex comes from too, I would bet. I don't see it as homoerotic or closeted homosexual desire. I see it as just pushing the envelope further and further.

It's surprising for someone like me, who grew up in the age of Pam Anderson and Jenny McCarthy. Men my age never cared about hips and ass, they just lusted over boobs. In fact, most white guys expressed disgust in JLo's body type when she became popular.

I can and will confirm. I'm going to risk running afoul of a rule here. I'll try to avoid that, but i'll probably come close.

In the Ronnie Reagan 1980s and Gulf War 90s, tits were it. Playboy tits. Nice C and D cups, preferably natural with some decent sag. Fake tits were obviously fake, but were better than measly A cups. Now, we didn't fault you if you didn't like 'em big, but no one looked askance at you if you did like big tits. I was in college in the late 1980s, and going from my little town to a college town, reveled in going to classes with, and partying with, girls with the biggest and best tits I'd ever seen.

Most of us thought JLo was kinda fat in that movie where she played Selena, which is the first time JLo made it to widespread appeal.

The shift probably came from the things identified above.

--big tits = fat chick.

--influence of hiphop/urban culture, gangsta rap, "booty" videos, Sir Mix-A-Lot's "Baby Got Back" and the video that popularized it, and the popularity of models like Buffie the Body, Melyssa Ford, Ki Toy Johnson, London Charles (Deelishis from Flavor of Love), and other "big booty" black women. (the black girls in the Baby Got Back video did have nice butts.)

--The asses on black female models are just getting more and more outrageously large. (women can get ass implants now.)

--the idolization and welcome objectification (especially by black men) of thicc white women - Iggy Azalea, KimK, JLo, and the rise of the PAWG in porn

--degeneration of sexual conduct to its most base levels, into anal sex and other manner of kink.

That's pretty much what I think is going on.

Or it could be that millenials ~~this fucking word again~~ are just more well-versed in porn and search for pornstar names, different genres and fetishes instead of just "boobs". Even then, people searching for "boobs" doesn't necessarily mean that boobs are more sexually attractive than hips or ass. It just means that people search for boobs.

I personally think that while boobs are definitely sexy, nothing can compare to the area around the vajajay - that organ is like the entire reason behind sex and quite obviously is the most exciting

Well, I'd blame it on several things:

1) The obesity crisis: large breasts are much more common on overweight and obese women, and that's not attractive.

2) Changes in culture: rappers and traditional African-American and Latino standards of beauty becoming more mainstream. These ideas were later taken up by a decent number of middle-class White youth, in an effort to rebel.

3) A rebellion against the "heroin chic" ideal and thinness as standard of beauty during the 1990s. Feminists and mental-health practitioners saw this as encouraging unrealistic standards and increasing anorexia levels.

4) A belief that physical fitness is attractive: breast size is largely genetic, but lots of physical exercise will either make you a stick figure or give you a decent ass. It's more an ideal of beauty as meritocratic achievement rather than as gift from the genetic gods.

5) General fashion trends.

I think the shift comes from popular culture and fashion.

People of all races embracing rap music with its affinity for asses, yoga pants and leggings, you name it. A lot of the male focus has shifted towards butts.

I believe it's due to the obesity epidemic. Thin women are considerably more rare than at any point in history and men desire a woman with a waist that is thinner than her rump. Now the top of female genetic looks will have that plus the breasts to go with. But, quite simply, any woman who has a thin waist is catapulted to the top of the market simply due to scarcity. I also believe that this is why there are places like hate fat people or whatever. Because guys are upset that women could cease to be overweight and catapult themselves to the top of the attraction market but they don't.

Anyway less emphasis on boobs because often thin girls don't have them. But more emphasis on butt because that is what we compare the waist too first. Guys look from the bottom up. I've told women this and they have struggled to believe me. Because they look from the face and shoulders down.

I would speculate that the shift is due to the shift in quantity and nature of the immigrants coming in. Latinas and Black girls are known for their butts and Asians generally have neither butts nor boobs

As with many trends it is probably an urban phenomenon. White bread guys in the mid-west probably still like their corn-fed hooters. Other rural states like Wyoming and Arizona might be the same as well as parts of California. IIR, blondes are losing their privileged status which might be a related issue.

Personally, I've never been a big fan of big boobs. They look good on a skinny chick but aren't necessary. They are necessary to balance out a big butt and avoid a pear-shaped look.

When you get right down to it, the bonus fun factor from bonus fun bags is rather marginal. So you cop a feel, do a bit of snorffling and tit fucking, and watch them bounce around during missionary and cowgirl.

A good rack never goes out of style. I'm quite slender with large breasts and an unimpressive ass. I get compliments on my figure all the time and have no problem booking modelling gigs. I just get more jobs for selling bras or beer than jeans or workout clothes. My particular figure was certainly more fashionable in the nineties, but that doesn't really translate to everyday life for most people. A healthy, feminine body will always be attractive whether or not she has big boobs, a big ass, both, or neither.

I would say the trend is driven by a bubble in "boob marketplace." That sounds stupid, but I think it's the best way to describe what drives this trend. It's a combination of the following:

Much more readily available plastic surgery, so many more women have fake breasts now than before.
Obesity crisis, many more women have larger boobs because the average person is fatter today than they were in the past.
A proliferation of products designed to make boobs look bigger of perkier (push-up bras, etc.)
Increased sexualization of mass media, creating even more virtual exposure to women with great breasts.
Increased popularity of hip-hop, which emphasis ass and being T H I C C

Not that long ago, having great and/or big boobs was rare. Now it's way more common for a variety of reasons.

With that said, millennial guys still really like boobs. The fact that there's been so much emphasis on helping women get bigger boobs is evidence for this. It's just that women with big boobs are way more common now than they were.

Also OP, I would hesitate to lump the decline of Hooters into the boob issue. There's huge decline across that whole category of chain restaurants, boobs or no - Applebees, Chilis, Red Lobster, etc. are declining because millennials prefer quick-serve, socially-conscious places.

Ass > tits, always. Big breasts serve no evolutionary purpose(milk production is not correlated with breast size) so there is no reason for men to be attracted to them. Except for the fact that they kind of look like an ass(no, I did not make that up) and, in extreme cases of tits, possibly make the waist look more narrow.
