I had been off OLD for almost two years, decided to install an app again last year and didn't last 10 minutes there, because the men were either too ugly or non-monogamous. My hopes of finding a man to be in a committed, monogamous relationship with dwindle day by day.

I think if you report "poly" and especially couples' profiles on Hinge they can get in trouble or banned. Having more than one person using the account is specifically not allowed and their TOS specify you have to be looking for a relationship, not casual. I always report them!

For years I totally bought in to the whole "ethically non-monogamous" bullshit and gave it a full-faith effort, And I got used, ghosted, cheated on, and devalued.

I have never, in over ten years active in this scene, (in a major west coast city known for being "accepting' and "weird") met a single man in the poly scene that was not just looking to get his dick wet with a living fucktoy.

These men never want friendship - they never want romance, they want to bang. They want a rotation of different exciting pussy on-demand like a buffet. And they went to put in zero effort for it.

I'm hopefully some of the younger posters can help me understand. I'm an old fogey who associates this sort of key party behavior with my parent's generation and finds it old, uncool and gross. But:

a. is this cool now?

b. is it still like key parties type stuff? committed swinger couples (they step out on each other with the same other couples every time, by agreement)? Because what I seem to be seeing is just a man refusing to get his junk out of the community space once he's fooled one poor woman into touching it repeatedly / promising to continue to do so. He is determined to keep it out in the community and continue to pester everyone else with it. He will not be deterred: poke! Poke! Hey you! Poke?

What I don't see are *two* people each seeking out what each of them is attracted to. (And unless you're twins, you're not in a couple and attracted to exactly what your partner is attracted to, by default. If you were, you'd be home in front of your mirror instead of with them.)

I just can't shake my association of this sort of dating ad with weird smelling grown-ups in '70s style bell bottoms and excessive facial (or other places, really) hair rambling about "free love" and forcing their disgusting obsession with their wobbly bits (sorry, kids really don't care or want to hear it) into public conversation. it boggles my mind that something so musty and old-fashioned (and pointless) has come back around to the forefront of dating.
