Lol. Of course you know you're pretty. Like most women you probably spend vast amounts of time and money on being pretty and even organize your life style around being pretty (diet, exercise, other aspects of your budget that need to be cut back for all this) Maybe you even slaved away for years saving up money so you could get cosmetic surgery.

But oh no, you can't know that you're pretty. You're supposed to know what pretty looks like and you're supposed to throw your time and money at your "problems" until you finally reach pretty yourself...but God forbid you actually recognize the fruits of your own labor.

Women are not only supposed to be pretty, we are supposed to be effortlessly pretty. Even mentioning all the money and time we need to spend to get there is a huge taboo. That makes you sound whiny and bitchy. No, we are supposed to flounce out of puberty with waist-long glossy hair, tiny delicate features, and with tiny figures despite being able to enjoy a beer and pizza with our man. This guy seems like a douche. So good that you blocked him. Men really don't like it when you directly say you know you are pretty. They think it makes a woman arrogant. They also don't respect a woman who acts surprised when called pretty, they think she has low confidence and is easy target.

A better strategy is to acknowledge you are pretty and also add some other detail to it. Example - Last week a guy in my social circle started flirting with me on text (after he saw my latest photos uploaded on social media) and he asked me something similar "What if I say that you are really very pretty?" I answered him "I am when I take good care of my looks" I acknowledged his compliment and also reminded him that it takes effort for even an attractive woman to look very pretty. This went well with him and he asked me out in his next text.

I never thought I was pretty when I was younger, in fact would have said I was average. But now, in my mid-fifties, I am suddenly considered quite pretty— for my age —because I took care of my health, stayed out of the sun, didn’t gain weight, and stayed fit. Also my bone structure (too high cheekbones and chubby cheeks) works well in an aging face. But it’s weird now, to be treated differently than I was when I was younger.

This is the complinent phenomenon! An awesome HVW on Twitter posted a social experiment telling other women that men cannot accept if you validate their compliment! If you act like you already know it to be true, they will usually find a way of trying to take it back.

I did it once with a co-worker. He complimented my boots & I said "I know!" And he immediately said something backhanded like "Watch it now!" Or, "don't let it get to your head!" It's a LVM way of degrading women for ever being able to figure out anything on our own & have confidence. We must be pickmeishas waiting on their every beck & call 🙄
