Hi all! I’m on my phone so forgive me if the layout is a little wonky. I (23) have been talking to someone for a few months (27). I’ve noticed that he’s mentioned having kids a lot. Don’t get me wrong, I love kids, am great with them, and want kids but I’m very practical and don’t see the point of rushing right now. I don’t want to rush to bring a child into relationship that I don’t know will be forever. Also, we’re young! I want to be able to travel, be in a good place financially, and married before even thinking of having kids. When I said this to him he said that he doesn’t want to be an old dad and doesn’t want to wait too many years. I know for a fact that he doesn’t know a thing about taking care of a kid or the financial responsibilities so I do not understand why he pushes for it. It’s also a bit confusing to me because men I’ve talked to in the past have showed that they’re good with kids such as working with them or taking care of family so I understood their want for kids, so for him to go from never showing interest in children in general to wanting them so soon is off to me. This was a few weeks ago but I started thinking about it because I just watched a reality tv show where a man said to his new wife that he wants children despite him not being ready in sense.

So my question for you all is why do you think some men push for women to have kids with them knowing they’re not ready/ never showed interested in kids?
