We have a problem in this sub of people rather wanting to keep believing what they already believe, even in the contrast of evidence, than to be open to change their mind. In this way, "tiktok" and other social media anecdotes and ideological content that is created for profit and that is getting views and engagement by triggering people with claims that fit what people want to hear or don't want to hear, but with no basis in reality, is believed over actualy scientific evidence. On the basis of "you can't trust science", unless that science can be picked apart and misinterpreted in a way that supports the own way of thinking. Then it's defended like it's the only truth in the world.

What is the point of not wanting to find out the truth? Why come here when you already think you have the truth nailed down? This sub is not for debating, but for getting confirmation in what you already believe and for the powerless to feel powerful by "winning" over the enemy, in battles that have no winner at all. How do you actually determine how attractive you are as a man? I think it's easy to get sucked into blackpilled thinking as we all have our flaws (I'm so lanky and skinny). I also think it's easy for people to become delusional about their looks as well (I'm 6'2 so I'm clearly a Chad). I see men saying they never get compliments, but I get compliments all the time from women. It's hard not to interpret that as me being attractive but the compliments are always about my hair, or clothes looking good. I put a lot of effort into my fashion choices, and have had women on dates say they like the way I dress (while also pointing out how most men dress terribly - stop wearing plaid shirts boys). But that doesn't mean I'm physically highly attractive and my success on dating apps is pretty mixed. If you consistently receive compliments on things like these in that an indicator, or am I just am average man who actually understands how to dress well?

Man, I really understand sometimes when women talk about how frustrating it is when men don't open up. I'm a pretty sociable guy, so I make lots of connections, but so many men are only surface level and if you ever try to go further, they just tighten up and go quiet. I dated a guy before who was a lot of fun to spend time with, but he had so many walls up I was never able to get closer to him emotionally. I don't think I've genuinely encountered women who are like this while dating them. Often they might be shy, but they'll open up once they know they can trust you.

Friends tell me to just focus on my own life and love myself. I mean, I do like myself. And I feel like I have accomplished everything I want to accomplish. I am a homeowner, I have no worries at all about money, I like my job enough but it isn’t really a passion, I really like how I look, I really like my hobbies, I like who I am as a person and how I am there for my friends and my parents when they need me.

I don’t know what else to do now. I feel like I have checked all the boxes and now just need to wait and all I can do is make the best of it. I don’t want anything else and I don’t really have any other goals. A guy I went on a date with before my boyfriend asked what goals I’m working towards and I said I have everything I want, but I’d like to be a wife and mom.

How do I get people/friends to not pry into my (lack of) dating life?

Former incel. Didn't do much therapy but had months-long interactions with a psychiatrist in 2021-22. Was diagnosed with bipolar but was asked not to take medication as I have ADD, too.

But that aside, I spoke to them about my issues regarding dating, social life, interest, goals, friends yada yada. He helped a fair bit. But over time, I have lost interest in love; maybe, a bit of "incel" has stayed on with me all these years.

Now, the issue is that people keep asking me if I'm dating someone. If not, if I am sleeping with someone, which I am not.

Male friends generally don't bring it up all that much, older men say stupid shit about it but drop it after a while. But women Ik don't. Older female colleagues keep asking me about it and when I say "no dating life", they're like "oh, you young people just wanna sleep around". My female friends ask every time they see me, and won't drop the topic, either. If they ask "why?", I say "don't want to" and they are unsatisfied with the answer and keep probing.

How to deflect or draw boundaries at these questions?
