Statistics for an entire country of over 300 million people most of whom you will never meet in your life are not necessarily relevant for any given individual's dating prospects.

For reference, about 14% of the US population is black. About 6% Asian. If you narrow down to South Asian, around 2%.

Depending on where you live, those statistics might sound crazy. That is because these demographics shift significantly the more you narrow down to a specific area rather than looking at the entire country.

No. I did not look for an average partner. I looked for a partner that was compatible with me, who makes my life better than it is remaining single, someone I am genuinely attracted to and with whom I can see things working out long term. I never needed a partner anyway, so why would I coldly strategize as if I did?

I run in the kink community, and people my age (20s) who are in the kink community tend to be rather bad with money/mentally unstable. I am the rare few of young adult kinksters who is stable, career, renting independently, etc, and happen to be a kinkster.

Which means I know people like me exist. It's hard to find people like me, but I won't settle for someone unstable or someone who is anti-kink, when I know a stable person exists, and just staying single is better than settling for one of those two.

No, women aren't "surprised" by any of this shit. We do go out in public; to work; to school; have neighbors; friends; and family members. We're well aware that most men aren't tall and rich.

I have no idea what "blond" has to do with anything, this is a male obsession not female. The trope is "tall, dark, and handsome"

Women are not men. We don't form our expectations based on how common a trait is. We form them based on what we like; are attracted to; and compatible with. It's male solipsism that seems to cause men on this sub to believe if they just beat us over the head with numbers, we'd magically not want the things we want and want the things we don't.

I'm childfree. There's far more childfree women than childfree men. Astonishingly that doesn't make me want children, or men with children, or men who want children.

Crazy, right?? According to the male logic of PPD, I'm supposed to go "well gee golly wilikers childfree men are only .002% of the population! Guess I'll have some babies then!"

I feel like it's not us who have a problem with statistics. It's the people who keep spreading the lies that women only go for those specific men, when over half of the men in the US are partnered(so, clearly women partnered up with men who do not fit those demographics you listed). But somehow redpillers and blackpillers think women only go for the top x% of men, where x hilariously changes from 1, 5, 20, to 30 depending on the week in this sub.

I liked a boy in school. There wasn't a time when i thought "hmm, he is only 5'8 and i want 6' at least, what's statistics for me to get that, what value do i have...is there a better fish in the sea" i either like someone or i don't. It's men who do this weird mental gymnastics probably because they have no issues to enter relationship with someone they don't like. I don't do that.

Most people just date in their environment, generally matching up with social and socioeconomic class due to proximity, and not a single thought is given to “this demographic has a rare trait!”

For the most part most people don’t consider statistics in this way. They may think “the pool has pee in it” but they’re not sitting there doing math about it. I am sometimes. But I’m a certified divergent so lol.

I don't think it really does. Even with very few specifications, like say all men between ages 25 and 35 in a spefic state or country, will still only be some maybe 2-10% of all men. So if we focus too hard on statistics, then having any kinda dating preferences at all, will feel discouraging.

There are some websites that lets you click in a bunch of different dating preferences, and it'll tell you how many people actually fit those criteria. I tried that with very minimal criteria, like just an age group for example, and it always showed it was just a small percentage of men.

I'm a little surprised that you include the blonde bit, though I'm not surprised by the numbers. Is that a common selection criterion? But then, most of the things I see RP men listing as women's requirements aren't things I see from women in the real world... and to some extent seem to be an artifact of the distorted dynamics of OLD.

IME, men (at least men who have options) are less likely to want to date a woman is who taller than them or who makes more money than they do. As a 5'11" woman who makes over 100K, I guess that's a thing? But it doesn't really have much to do with my life.

I like men who are 5'9 with caramel skin, curly brown/black hair and brown eyes. Blondes repulse me. I would absolutely never date a blonde man under any circumstances. I'm happy with a guy who makes $65-85k because I also work. So those statistics mean nothing to me. I like Latino men and don't know a single woman who is attracted to blondes but that's just my experience.

Trying to use population level statistics/averages to dictate or determine the behavior of a single individual is a bad time no matter what the data.

So because I see dating/sex as something I, an individual, do with another individual, I can't say it features very prominently.

I think people who do try to gamify/data focus their dating are doing it because of their perspective, and probably due to some anxiety (trying to exert control over something that's very subjective).

And that is fine too! It sounds exhausting to me, but people use lots of things to get themselves through difficult social situations (hello alcohol) so if it works for them ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
