Women frequently wonder why men obsess over muscles/gym that much. Here's the reason:

Men's hyperfocus on muscles is easily explained by the fact that it is pretty much the only way for a man to noticably increase his attractiveness, because all other relevant aspects of male attractiveness are very much genetic (height, hair, face etc.).

So, if you're a balding five foot nothing regular guy in his mid 20s, you're sort of bound to see the gym as your last resort, glorifying it and muscles. Otherwise, it's pretty easy to sink into despair.

There's a reason men and even teenage boys swarm the gyms and how the popularity of gym culture hasn't waned even a bit in 15 years. It also correlates almost perfectly with the rise of social media and online dating. Before the late 00s, weightlifting was pretty much a niche sport.

Oooo also: unpopular opinion incoming! I dont think of leagues in a conventional way. My way is that: the only league that exists is the one where who you like likes you back.

For me your league is who you like and who likes you back. If you like someone but they don't like you back you're not in the same league. If someone likes you but you don't like them back you're not in the same league. The only relevant league is the one where you like someone and that someone likes you back.

For me a league is only relevant if the relationship can actually happen and it can only happen if two people like and find each other attractive. There's no point in considering a situation where one party isn't attracted to other. I see so many people constantly think over people who are supposedly in the "same league" as them. I don't see the point of this if realistically the relationship can't happen because one party is not interested. Your over thinking seems to be a waste of time and over analysing your league won't change the other person's mind. I only consider the people in my league to be those who I like and who like me back. I don't think every couple who likes each other are equally yoked I'm just saying that realistically the only relationship that can occur is the one where both parties desire each other so it's the only relevant league in a sense.

Let's add a topic to the looks thread that hasn't been beaten to death.

Recently learned about the concept of the Duchenne smile. Basically, smiles that constrict the eyes and are considered more "genuine" than smiles that don't.

I've been told that I seem like a very friendly and approachable person irl, and I realized that that sort of smile coming naturally to me by default may be part of it. People who don't can appear to have dead eyes, or something slightly off that people can't articulate in precise terms because they don't know what exactly about this person's gaze is throwing them off. They might say something like "looking constipated" or "crazy eyes." I've known some men who say they feel like they look weird when they smile with teeth for photos. Showing teeth combined with dead eyes is probably one of the most off-putting possible facial expressions. Showing teeth is generally better than not (assuming they aren't fucked up) but you have to make sure your eyes match. Which is basically just a matter of being conscious of the right muscles and moving them accordingly.

Trying to find the benefits and pros to being an unnatractive woman. 🤗I think as an average or below average person you should be able to look on the bright side. It can't be all doom and gloom.

The only men who have approached me have been obvious red flags. (I've never had a sober man approach me... And I've never been to a bar/club nor do I drink...)
Every beautiful women I know who was approached by a man was eventually cheated on by that man (which makes 0 sense to me! How do you approach someone and then cheat?!) I think my lack of beauty has low-key saved me from getting thrown the ringer with men. The universe knew my sensitive self couldn't handle it.
My male friend has never had a crush on me. It's so easy to have a friendship with him cause I never question anything. My female friends have sworn off platonic male friendships because the dudes kept catching feelings.
Being invisible is nice as an introvert. I've gotten away with a lot of things because I have a face most people don't remember. I've ditched a lot of classes through school. 😅
Gay men are so kind and friendly to me.
Men who turned out to be assholes where rude to me first. I like to use my face as a litmus test for a man's personality. Men show their rudest selves to a non cute girl. 💅

The biggest cons though that have happened to me: - Getting left for a more attractive women. (Demolished my self esteem and I have a lot more anxiety now.) - I'm less comfortable with men compared to other women. They can make men laugh more and relate better. I make most men feel awkward. I'm not shy but I can't flirt and don't have good banter which is not a good combination for any woman talking to a man. 😂 - Less dating experience makes me way more susceptible to sweet nothings. I used to think my ex was genuine cause he was a smooth talker. A very dumb woman I was. - I always just assume if I were better looking a guy wouldn't treat me "like that" and ya alot of the time it's true but having that view towards life can breed pessimism and anxiety which isn't nice. You can still always choose what treatment you'll accept even if you're not attractive. Once someone shows you who they are move on. 🤗

Even studies say that - yes, men overestimate their appearance, but not in the way women may feel

It turned out that the perception of one's own appearance and that of others is similar for men, and how they "overestimate their attractiveness" also works the other way, because they see others as more attractive.

So even if a hypothetical man 5/10 thinks that he is 7/10, then when he sees a woman 5/10, he will think that she is 7/10. And seeing a man and/or woman 7/10, they will seem to the same 5/10 man like 9/10 and he will accordingly understand that they are more attractive than him.

Men overestimate the appearance of EVERYONE, not just themselves, so this doesn't change anything in the process of choosing a partner.

In the end, balance is still maintained and ordinary men find attractive exactly the same as them - ordinary women, but at the same time they also see these women even more attractive, which is kind of in women's favor and is not a problem.

"What you can get in dating is your league" is simply untrue and is intended to downplay men's legitimate concerns about finding their female counterpart in appearance/personality.

At the very least, men have a higher, spontaneous sex drive, are attracted to a wider range of women, and have a wide variety of fetishes.

Because of this, there will never be a complete and consistent match in appearance between men and women in couples, as an average woman will often be less attracted to an average man than the opposite.

And yet, nothing will prevent a more attractive man from dating a less attractive woman, simply because he has a type for her.

1) You take 100 random men and put them through a looks improvement program over a year - including really good grooming, styling, and losing weight / improving fitness to be at least "toned"

2) You do the same thing with 100 women.

After the program has ended:

1) What percent of men would be considered "attractive" to the group of women, on average - as in they would be swiped right on a "tinder in real life" experiment.

2) What percent of women would be considered "attractive" to the group of men, on average -as in they would be swiped right on a "tinder in real life" experiment.

I think that only about 25% max of the men would be swiped right, on average.

A female opinion that always annoys me is the idea that a woman's body type has no bearing on whether her clothing is modest. It does, because the image you are presenting is affected by your body type.

A woman with a skinny waist and a fat ass in a skintight dress is presenting a more sexual image than a plank in the same dress.

Both women know their body type and know the image their body presents in a particular item of clothing, so the former is actively choosing to present a sexual image but the latter is not. Therefore, the latter is modest, the former is not.

I watched all of the Cut videos where they lineup women and have men guess their bodycounts to see if there was a link in attractiveness and this is my summation of the videos:

The way they dress has almost 0 bearing on their bodycounts
The women who have highest bodycounts do tend to be uglier on average
The highest bodycount women also tended to have wild colored hair (pink, blue, green)
The women who have full sleeve tattoos tend to also have higher bodycounts (but other smaller tattoos seem to be ok)
The women who were virgins were generally more physically attractive than average as well
As you middle out the bodycount range, attractiveness also averages out

I've been turned off by a guy's attitude, treatment of service staff, and lack of intelligence more often than not.

From my pov, the men who struggled the most with women are the men who are attractive until they open their mouths.

Men who have no standards are always the ugliest. The ones who say they only want a woman who looks good and desires them. Their transactional view of relationships makes them unattractive.

Being tall / having a big dong as a man puts you at a higher SMV than any woman

6' tall puts you as a man in the 85th percentile of height

Having a 7" dick puts you in the 99th percentile in dick size

Combining both of these would make you extremely rare as a man, thus placing you at a higher SMV than basically any woman. This man is more valuable to women than any women would be to a man.

This man should play the field, he should have tons of boundaries/standards/preferences/dealbreakers. This man realistically can get anything he wants.

Men can't really judge what "league" women are and what their match is. They don't account for what exactly attract women. But also they contradict themselves. They say that a woman in her early 20 is top league. And then complain that she is having fun with Chad and not knowing her lane. It is her lane according to men. Also they like to stretch the idea of legues to fin whatever they want. Because if it's about options - then women always above. If it's about relationship then again women are above. If it's about the top guy you can commit.....not everyone always wants commitment. But anyway i don't see men getting commitment from Stacy's either.
