Firm no for me for several reasons:

Lack of maturity

Lack of education

Lack of worldly knowledge/wisdom gained through life experiences

Lack of ability to hold a conversation about current events and/or being able to do so without having her face buried in her phone

Lack of independence/ability to support herself

Etc.

I (38F) showed this post to my husband (31M). He acknowledged that for some it might be true, but he also scoffed at it.

He suggested that it could be evolutionary, since a younger woman is more likely to be able to have children than an older woman. Also in the past, a woman needed a man to take care of her, so an older man, being better established, would be better able to do this. I agree with his reasoning.

But for him, he says he couldn't stand 15 year old girls when he was in high school, so the entire idea is repulsive to him now.

As for me, he definitely didn't "settle". He deliberately pursued me. It was me that resisted. He won me over, and after 4 years of marriage and 2 kids, I'm glad he did.

Thé thing is all things will NEVER be the same. You cannot have a carbon copy of somebody you love but younger. Most people, and I think men included, would prefer somebody that they have spent 10+ years building a connection and life with over somebody they don’t know as well who is hotter/younger.

Sure if you took 2 strangers and one was younger and one was older a guy would probably pick the younger but that situation doesn’t happen in real life. There are tons of variables that go into choosing a partner, and looks is only one of them. I'd suggest amending your statements as follows:

The vast majority of heterosexual men would choose a 23 year old over a woman in her 30s or even late 20s.

While I haven't done tightly-controlled experiments or surveys myself, I would hypothesize that if we put all the data (N= ~3 billion or so) into a scatterplot or some other helpful statistical analysis tool, the number of points off of a mathematical best-fit line (i.e. men that would choose a woman in her 30s or late 20s or 30s over a 23 year old) is so vanishingly small as to uncover an objective truth about human sexuality.

That probably doesn't fit your narrative or spin the wheels of the outrage engine fast enough though, does it?

The taboo is entirely societal, as marriage and pregnancy by 13-14 is a norm in most primitive societies. Are they pedophiles or rapists? Totally not, they have strong social code against that. I think the most important aspect is that primitive people living in harsh environment have short childhoods. Both boys and girls are adults by age of puberty, in every aspect of their social code, whereas in the west, people are not able to direct their life even post college. If we compare to tribespeople adulthood, we'd need to raise AoC to 21 at the very least.

tl;dr: Our society being soft on children and prolonging their childhood to 20s plays huge role. It's far more about upbringing and emotional maturity, than age as such.

In ancient times when people matured a lot more quickly maybe, but 15 in the modern day is still a child. If you’re basing it on looks and development then maybe by the tail end of someone’s fifteenth year they’re starting to come into that, but even so only a handful will be fully there and absolutely none of them have the mental maturity yet. For moral reasons relating to consent that’s a problem, but it’s just as much of a problem because if any normal person spent five minutes in a room with someone that young they’d be turned off the idea anyway.

truth be told 18 as the age of consent I think is still a bit too young, as far as mental capacity goes. It’s old enough to not fall victim to child predators, so it’s workable as law, but there are a host of bad decisions one can make about sex without necessarily becoming a pedo victim.

Everyone has their tastes and preferences. And this includes both age and body types. This is a speculation point I'm still working on. Jury is still out. There might be some physical signals men prefer or are equally okay with in a 30 year old woman.

OKC got a result of 19 for preference. This either means 19 sounds better to report for men or that maximizing fertility is not the evolutionary trigger for men.

It looks to be some combination of fecundity, fertility and youth. 15 year olds miscarry probably the same as a 30 year old.

I would guess they probably have competitive attractiveness levels.

It's tough to research obviously. May have a definite answer after some more thought. But it's not as straight forward as you may think.
