Actually, some men, by being unreasonably angry and frightening, manage to bully people into getting what they want. It can be effective, which is why some people use it as a tool. And more often than not, they suffer no direct consequences.

Both they and Karens are prioritising their wants over others' feelings. They see others as less than them. And they find all too often that people give in to them just to make them go away.

I don't think the reason as simple as loss of pretty privilege - though I don't deny that may be the case on occasion.

I worked retail for many many years and I dealt with a lot of Karen's. They honestly just want to shit on someone less successful to feel better about their lives. To take out all the aggression they feel about their lazy husbands and disrespectful kids on a 22 year old checkout girl. It's this avenue of female rage that never got acknowledged until recently when they got caught on camera and people realized how fucked up it is.

They basically treat you like they would a maid who failed to polish the silverware to a high sheen back in the early 1900's.

Then we just got the flat out racists.

It has nothing to do with looks or attention. It's getting berated about an expired coupon because Carl leaves his dishes in the sink.

karen has lost all meaning, it used to mean "(usually white and middle aged) woman that's extremely rude to service people" and now it's every middle aged woman that is caught on video being argumentative no matter the context. I've seen people call women who have a problem with being filmed against their consent in public "karens"

Karens arent about looks or privileges, theyre really just ridiculous sticklers for rules or just unhinged psychos. My sister was a massive karen at age 24, calling cops on neighbors over noise complaints on new years eve over karaoke and fireworks. Its got nothing to do with privilege, they merely overreact explosively to the slightest inconvenience and that has nothing to do with their looks and everything to do with personality.

Karens are just UMC white women who are privileged and entitled. Not all of them are attractive or ever were, and I don’t believe they are acting with jealousy toward young women, they lash out at men just as much if they happen to be in the line of fire. They’ve probably always had the attitude, people just tend to get confident (sometimes overly) and lose their filter as they get into middle age.

There are also tons of male Karens/Kevins out there. Usually middle aged white UMC dudes who think way too highly of themselves and have little regard for others. They definitely find ways to be angry without getting arrested.lol

I've said this before, and I'll say it again cause it bears repeating. This belief that some people, or most people?, have that it is somehow someway that it's only these super alpha red pill chads or mega hottie Stacie's are somehow someway the only ones going around thinking or saying I can or cannot say whatever I want based on some sort of privilege, which may not actually be there or be this thing some of you think it is, and are getting away with it in some magical way........

Yeah, that's not actually happening or it's not happening anywhere near or the way some on here seem to think it is. You really think these Karen's or however you want to put it are the only ones doing this or are doing this based on some sort of privilege they or you think they used to have? No. That's not happening.

I'll tell you what's happening, and it's so simple. They.Do.Not.Give.A.Flying.FUCK.

You really think these karen's or not 10s are walking around saying to themselves I can or can't say whatever whenever based on this privilege idea shit some internet nerds came up with that they think applies to all things all at one all the time? Yeah. That ain't happening.

Let me tell you a story and before that a preamble:

Yes. We all have eyes. Yes. Some people are more attractive than others and get more attention. Yes. The halo effect happens. Yes. You should have and know your boundaries and they should be respected. No. You shouldn't have to or be made to do things you don't want to do. No. You shouldn't have to buy into or do this bare the burden(s) of the world shit. Yes. There are certain people and situations you are better off avoiding and should know when to.

To my story:

I used to work in an area that was more on the upper middle class side. Oh yeah. They had some money. We're talking 6-9 figures, few hundred thousand to a million or so a year, or maybe even a week-month, that would not surprise me if it were true.

We're talking lawyers/legal work types, finance/accounting/real estate types/, one guy was a hedge fund manager, no surprise here, he was a dirtbag, doctors/medical field types, I think you get the idea.

People who were well off or more than well off and did well for themselves, people who were older and as the saying goes, "should have known better or acted right", yeah that wasn't happening with a good portion of them.

These were some of and acted like the most pushy, Karen like, petty, demanding, spoiled, entitled, throw a temper tantrum over not getting the discount they felt entitled too etc.

And let me tell you, they weren't all 10s, to give you an idea or the range, it was on the 2-6 scale with the occasional 7-8, and I never got the impression that they were these beautiful, or handsome, oh yeah there guys, grown ass men well off with plenty of money who did this shit, who somehow magically lost this privilege that you think was even there in the first place.

And it wasn't out of desperation, or insecurity. No. Like I said, they didn't give a flying fuck.

Oh and it wasn't just me, about 10 people who worked there who were not ready or used to dealing with this sort of thing all pretty much asked me the same "Why do they all have a stick up their ass and act like a spoiled child?"

Long story short and many examples aside, basically, You/I/We were on their turf to sum it up briefly.

"However, after Karens being in the top of attraction in your youth, and seeing how even a common McDonalds female worker get more attention than her. No wonder she gets angry against service workers. It is the same phenomenon as alpha widows. They cannot accept their top days are over, they cannot accept attraction can be lost (even if it is just like 30%)"

YYYYYYYYYEEEEEEAAAAAHHHH, I don't think that's happening. Or not how you think it is or as much as you think it is.

My point is this: You guys, and some gals, who see everything as this like constant black and white social binary of sorts really need some more experience I think. Like what will you do when and if you are in a similar sort of situation and because he or she is not super hot alpha chad or stacy hottie, you think they are doing or acting this way cause you can't compute cause it doesn't line up with some shit you read online they're only doing this cause they're insecure they don't get the attention they used to or aren't this super hotty hot 10. No. Like I said, it's cause they don't give a fuck. Simple as that.

I am speaking from experience. I'm not trying to be an asshole about this or go after anyone or make it super personal or say this from atop my mighty high horse or righteous assholery as I wave the flaming sword of righteous assholery. No. Just when I hear this shit, speaking from my own experience, chances are, that's not why that sort of thing is happening.

“pretty privilege” is not relevant in the real world. Getting stared at, and marginally favored in polite society is overrated. The creepy people who dole out pretty privileges are not people you want to associate with. There’s nothing special about a dude who only opens doors for hot girls. Ew.

And if you get promoted just because your hot, that’s not a privilege - it’s an anti meritocracy problem that you have to contend with when the hot juice runs out.

Pretty privilege is relevant when you have a beauty based job: modeling or sex work. That’s the main environment where pretty privilege gives you meaningful ROI, for a limited time. It’s like being a professional athlete.

Karens be Karens- I don’t think it’s anything to do with their beauty or lack of.

I’m generation X and I think I’m the generation that your referring to.. my generation had to work. We weren’t supported by anyone, but boomer women often didn’t have to work..

Our generation x was led to believe we would be smooth sailing like our parents, but never happened. We were completely misled.

That said, we are a bit annoyed.. but not at service people because we all worked our way through college. Our parents didn’t go to college.

The economy took a huge leap causing us to work harder than our parents did.. then it seemed to plateau.

It has nothing to do with looks though. Most of us still in our 40s are considered attractive if we take care of ourselves..

So, my dating experience in my 40s did not give me any impression that I lost my pretty privilege.. mostly because I looked better at 40 than I did at 30. I got in the best shape of my life at 40.. so I was experiencing privileges that I didn’t have in my 30s or even 20s. The older we are the better we carry ourselves..

When we are in child bearing mode.. we often neglect ourselves. We are still trying to lose baby weight and it can be difficult especially for women that have had 2 or more.. some women with high metabolism seem to be fine.

I haven’t had any struggles attracting men of all ages. I hear these comments being made about middle aged women and I have not experienced that at all. In fact I live in a horrible dating area and I still did ok. My husband is a year older than me, was married to a much younger woman before me and still had no issues with my age or looks.

I’m not sure where these ideas are coming from.

Wow - on paper I’d be the perfect recipe for a Karen but I treat everyone I encounter with respect. I’m not angry. I’m not racist. I’m not jealous of younger women. I’m not insecure. I was always this way.

It’s an ugly female stereotype & I know there are many true depictions of older women out there yelling at service workers, enforcing HOA bullshit and whatever. I think it’s just women being a shitty humans in general. Men certainly act out similarly.

But when it comes up (Karenism) WHY does it always include elements of bitter jealousy towards the younger women & extreme vanity over long lost physical beauty?

A lot of us older ladies are just fine in our increasingly wrinkly skin & perfectly chilled out.

I think it's more of a class thing. Karens are upper-class (hence the good grooming -- they can afford the frequent haircuts and such) and they're used to being handled with kid gloves, because most of the businesses they frequent are pretty exclusive and want them to spend lots of money in their establishment.

Then they go into a Walmart or something, where none of the workers GAF, and they're surprised when they don't receive the same treatment they get at Snootier-Than-You Boutique.
