I used to date older women and learned alot doing it. But the reality is that most women aren't willing to date men younger than themselves. Especially once you reach a 4+ year age difference and the woman wants to start a family. They'd rather be with men their age or men slightly older than themselves/more established.

You forgot option D - women are more likely to consider ambiguous situations as "being in a relationship" for the purposes of these self report studies. Consider this fairly common scenario: One attractive man is in situationships with two women. They haven't explicitly discussed exclusivity so he marks "single" in the survey. Meanwhile both the women consider themselves to be basically in a relationship and answer accordingly.

Regardless, dating older isn't going to be effective for mature men, because most women aren't interested in men significantly younger than them. The few that are probably want one that's fun and energetic, not boring and mature. There's plenty of mature men their age, after all.

One should account for people percieving relationships different. Imagine 2 people are dating for a month and now both are asked the question if they are single. One will say that they are not single, while the other says that they are single. People can have different treshold for what they deem as being in a relationship.
One of the reasons why young women tend to go for older men is because they tend to be more mature the the young men.
As for dating older women. Yes, you should attempt if you are attracted to her.

I'd like to know exactly what a mature man who has something going for himself is, and what the typical Gen Z guy is. Because more often than not, there is usually some other critical factor being unexplored here. Most notably, a lot of guys who miss out on dating have a predictably absent set of social milestones in their lives, and they're not really socializing in a way that allows those to be met. This is the guy who thinks "maturity" is staying at home focusing on school, work, gym or other insular pursuits and never actually interacting with the opposite sex often enough aka putting themselves out there.

I'm generalizing a bit here, but as a millennial in his 30s, this sentiment that many guys are late bloomers and women like them older isn't exactly new. It's also not quite right unless the guy in question is simultaneously socializing and getting enough experience to be fit for a relationship, because most women want a partner and equal, not some guy who is just "mature" on paper but doesn't know how to talk to people.

I'm (30M) married to one (38F). Honestly we met through a mutual friend ( I was hanging out at a party with a guy I played baseball with and his cousin was there) and we hit it off. We both assumed the other was closer to our own age. The only thing that sets her apart from the girls my age was maturity. No head games or immature relationship stuff. We were both pretty career focused and on the same schedule for things like when to have kids.

I haven't run into much in the way of taboo, but I will say that the age difference has a big impact on timing of children. My wife's bio clock is currently claning like a gong. We'd be a mismatch as a couple if I wasn't ready for having children.

When I look at the young men that I know who struggle with finding partners, they are either not adulting or they have some aspect of their persona that is objectionable to young women. The ones that I know have basically rejected the guys who are not living like an adult (because they see them as someone who they will have to parent) or thay are buying into the trad wife, gym bro, and right wing politics stuff. You really can't blame them. It would be odd to be attracted to someone who's openly hostile to your very essense. The problem for these guys is older women are even less likely to be attracted to them for the same reasons the younger women are ignoring them.

That’s not how biology works. In the majority of species, older, established males and younger, more likely to birth healthy offspring females are perpetually the most valued.

People who date the opposite sex will virtually ALWAYS gravitate to these two (relative to them) subgroups. It’s not societal bias, nor is it negative. It’s nature.

Less than a few percentage of those 60% are "mature" enough to be visible. Most men are (or should be) building in their 20's. Those men are viewed as unworthy.

And if the man IS "mature" and NOT in a relationship, there is a high chance it is HIS TRUE choice to not date. He has the right to not date, even if he IS "qualified."

If you actually have stuff going for you you'll be able to date women around your own age. The only guys being "left behind" are the ones that should be. As for dating older women I do it quite a bit and it's pretty rare for women to go for it. Unless you're outright cougar hunting. They're usually willing to just hook up but actual dating is a much longer discussion.

Yes because young men are much more able to naturally perform sexually (men's testosterone levels start dropping in their 30s and are less able to hold erections and have longer refractory periods) whereas women tend to hit their own sexual prime in their 30s and 40s (barring hormonal/other health issues/small children stuff). So it makes sense for younger men and older women to pair up for shorter term or casual stuff.

Also that stats been heavily criticized tons of times on this subs, other surveys do not show nearly that big a gap in singlehood. For some reason that Pew survey had a massive underreport in singlehood amongst young women.

You can try it. A lot of older women won't be into it, but some of them will. The same cautions about age gap relationships apply, and you're less likely to get a girlfriend than you are to get laid because older women who enjoy younger men are a lot less likely to pursue relationships with them. This might be exactly what you want, and it's also probably for the best because age gap flings are a lot less fraught than full-blown committed relationships.

Anyway there's no reason you can't simply widen your age range and see what happens.

Note that the percentage of young men who report being sexless is consistently much lower than the stat on being "single", usually around 20-30%. So either there is a lot of lying going on, or a lot of young men, not just some elusive mystical Chad's, are having noncommited sex. And if you're going with the "lying" solution, then the same could easily be applied to the relationship statistics.

Yes you will find the odd girl in her late 20s who is into older men but you are far more likely to find someone your own age interested in you than someone in her 20s.

I know this isn’t an age gap conversation but I’ve noticed that women feel a maternal instinct towards younger men and can’t see them in a sexual way. Maybe if men had more of a paternal instinct towards anyone younger than them they’d be better fathers and not attracted to significantly younger women. Just a thought.
