If the men they want aren't available women would rather be alone.

They view most men the same way straight men view other men, they aren't attracted to them at all.

Lack of availability of women doesn't make most (straight) men more interested in gay men. It's the same.

If you don't believe me ask the women on here, they say it all the time.

I agree that men can get too thirsty and over accommodate women's desires and as a result, inflate women's egos.
At the same time, men do these actions because they are expected to initiate and lead. That's just nature. That's why it's equally stupid for women to be complaining about being approached by guys they're not attracted to. It comes with the territory of being the pursued instead of the pursuer and if woman only want guys that they're attracted to to approach, they're asking for a utopia that does not exist.
With all that being said, men are always going to be a bit thirstier than woman in the beginning as the pursuer until you find a way to change human nature. The best that we can hope for is that we have reasonable and logical discussions about our roles in the game of dating and mating and see if it makes sense at all.
It's okay for men to continue their role as the pursuer but there are rules that should be immediately disposed of such as men should pay for dates or whoever invites should pay because these rules only exist to benefit women and is irrelevant to whether its line to male or female nature.

Men's insecurities have nothing to do with why we seem so desperate. It has everything to do with men's biological desire for sex. Many guys are emotionally content being single. A good amount of guys do not want children, or at least don't want them until they are older. There is really not much women provide men that we couldn't find elsewhere. That is outside of genuine physical affection.

So sure, it's men's fault we were born with the biological desire to want sex much more than females.

How could it be men's fault when women are the ones in a position of power and privilege? Women have every means to just make things easier for men, any kind of man, and to diversify their interests in men instead of obsessing over very specific or arbitrary traits(often because they believe that is what other women value). What can men do? Be more selective? what does that result in? Them getting less sex, fewer relationships opportunities or just dying alone?

And how could most men not act desperate, when their options are so limited to being with and they are written off so easily and for reasons that are entirely out of their control? How could men not feel insecure, when they are not valued and the market is so heavily skewed against them and always ready to tell them that they are worth less. It's not like women aren't insecure either, it's just that men still accept and embrace women despite their insecurities.

This is true, the 80/20 rule exists simply because the top 20% men won’t stick with the top 20% women. They enjoy pulling low hanging fruit with girls they know they won’t be serious with.

If the top 20% of guys didn’t try to date and f the world, then it would be the 60/40 rule and guys would have zero reason to complain. The bottom 20% of men prob don’t deserve a date.

Right now the dating market is way too imbalanced and women are allowed to artificially inflate their standards by being sexually available to guys out of her league.

But you also need to consider that many women use, gaslight, and deceive these desperate men, because it's highly beneficial to have useless idiots around to cater to every whim.

If, say tomorrow, women everywhere stopped obfuscating what makes a guy attractive, the average desperate guy could leave Plato's Cave. The simping problem would end quick, because guys would understand that you can't buy, nice, or negotiate your way into raw physical attraction.

I find it a fascinating phenomena that men are willing to pursue women anywhere and everywhere to the point that there are probably no untapped dating markets and almost no single women who don't have at least a few men interested in them. Women, conversely, will simply retreat and be extremely passive taking little to no romantic initiative at all. Because of how many men there are so vigorously pursuing them there really is no reason to try. Maybe if a woman works from home or in an environment with few coworkers and has no social media she can be in a position where she is really alone.

At the same time I do find it fascinating that our current equilibrium ended up where it is. Women are flooded with options they aren't very interested in. Men have chosen to go to every potential location they can leading to almost no majority female spaces. Women aren't that impressed by these men and wonder where the better options are. There are in fact plenty of bars, gyms, conventions, workplaces, churches, hobby groups, and even dating websites that are majority male (sometimes overwhelmingly so). Why women aren't willing to just try there hand and spend a little time in these places is odd to me. A small amount of effort could yield big returns but almost all women have opted the path of least resistance and decided to let men do basically all the work. So you end up with few majority female spaces, plenty of mixed sex spaces, and and plenty of majority male spaces.

If you asked a man whether he believes the following statement to be true:

“A man must work hard to win over a woman if he wants her!”

…he will most certainly agree enthusiastically. The idea that men have to prove themselves and earn a woman’s affection is so baked into our culture, that no one ever questions it.

If you asked a man whether: “women actually secretly desire a man whose affection they have to work hard to win!”…you would probably be called a psycho and a Blue Pill cuck.

But only one of those statements is true and it surely isn’t the first one. Men assume they are the ones who have to win over women and prove themselves, so they lower their standards, have no deal breakers and pursue as hard as they can, because they think that’s how they will get a woman. After all, if you are a discerning man, you are basically limiting your dating pool.

So men all act the same. They over compliment. They follow a woman’s lead and cater to her every whim (oh noes, she mentioned on her dating profile that she likes sushi, so I MUST take her to a sushi restaurant for our first date). They never say NO to her. They are always available in case she decides she wants to go out with them, because if they weren’t available, she’d just choose one of the 100s of other men who matched her. Etc. Then the endless texting and talking and asking her out and trying to impress her.

But in this dynamic, men only make women the chooser. The one with all the power. But in fact, women want exactly the opposite. Every single woman wants a man who she has to work hard to win him over. A man who is not easy. A man who is discerning, choosy and has high standards. A man who is hard to please.

Does it sound weird to you? Doesn’t sound irrational? Why would it? We never value that which is easily given to us. If you started a job as a janitor and within a week you were promoted to VP of Marketing, would you take the company seriously? What kind of a fucking company would promote a janitor to such an important position?

People only value this which they have worked hard to earn. The same goes for a man’s attention, affection AND even sex! You heard that right!

So men have it completely wrong. Thinking the easier and more available they are and the lower their standards and the more permissive and ass kissing they are, that the higher their chances are. When it’s completely the opposite.

I see what you’re saying but from my perspective it seems hard for both men and women. Like I see women vent frustrations about being single all the time already. Communities like “forever alone women” exist. It just seems like women aren’t always taken as seriously as men when they talk about those things.

Yes I can agree to a part of what you're saying, a lot of guys simp so hard, and generally a single horny guy will go to bed with a girl 3 points under but not other way round. This however has lead some girls to live in an alternate reality thinking they are worth way more than they are, can lead them to crash hard and thats their fault.

I think the OP doesn't understand most male behaviour or desire. "if men actually had standards other than a women's looks," men generally speaking only want sex, so it is almost 100% about the looks. I think you misunderstand the goal of men, which is to have sex. For women they not so bothered about that and want a relationship. Men unless it's family, can take or leave relationships but not sex. Two different things the sexes in current consciousness wants.....

Although I do agree with the raise of desperate and thirsty men, it's not the end all be all.

Everything that's going on in the dating culture is basically the gender experiencing, observing, reacting, and internalizing after the fact. It's not just that men are desperate and thirsty, there's also a societal pressure on men to putting a lot of value into sexual chemistry and initial sparks.

Men had ways to make society less shitty for them. They were called pre-1960s, and to a greater extent, Victorian and pre-Victorian laws (marriage and coverture and the exclusion of women from Parliament, the law, and public society). This ensured social mores that favoured men; children over the tender years were automatically custody of their fathers, prostitution was somewhat taboo, but the seller was more shamed than the buyer. Women and girls feared sexual scandal more than men, and were as or even more likely than men to be punished when improprieties came to light. Men had lawful power and dominion over women, because it was considered both mandated by the Bible, and women were also considered more volatile and ultimately mentally inferior. These laws and mores were dismantled because they were believed to be unfair and oppressive to women, and instead became what they are today: unfair and oppressive to men.

In a society the kind of which we live in today, there is nothing individual men can do to change things in their favour (Tragedy of the Commons) and them organising to change things is called misogyny and reaction; because changes for the better for the common man would have to come at the expense of women, and women will do everything possible to prevent that, and are 51% of voters (plus a large proportion of men favour women having power over them to the opposite, so combined they are currently able to dominate the male population that would champion the cause of their own kind).

Society might only be flipped around again by a desperate and increasingly unlikely, probably unconstitutional reaction.

Partially correct because men have low standards for sex and simping culture is rampant but men are usually the gatekeepers of long-term relationships and marriage. I think social media has inflated standards of what an average person should be when it was perfectly acceptable in our parents generation.

For instance three or four decades back women had less options so were confined to the men in the local community so it was normal for women to date factory workers for example back in the day but nowadays you have gen z women or even most women would say the man has no ambition if he is in a low skilled job for example because they have a ton of options online so they can select the next big thing and this also happens with the men at the top with regards to female beauty.
