They come to the same conclusion that men and women have the same emotional intelligence but they score differently on different componets of the test. Women are better at empathy and men are better at intrapersonal women scored higher at interpersonal and men scores higher at stress management.

So we're different but not better or worse.

In my experience women use emotional intelligence as a way to describe men who will validate and agree with her feelings even when she is completely wrong.

Or when a man doesn't ben his boundaries when she's upset or give in to her emotions

A lot of “emotional intelligence” comes from stereotyping people in your surroundings, learning what the average person in your culture is like over time, having the social battery to eagerly look for hints and interpret them (as opposed to being busy with something else and missing any hints), and a loneliness or inherent desire to connect with others that comes along with sadness if they leave. Women do benefit from an empathy gap where they’re better at some of these things, on average.

“Repetition” becomes intelligence. The hot guy who has been seduced before can safely assume the hot woman flirting with him now wants to sleep with him. The ugly guy who hasn’t been flirted with before should probably not assume the waitress being nice to him wants to go home with him.

The data is mixed on this; men and women present differently. In certain contexts, it's better, in others, it is not. It's the same for disorders. People, emotions, and disorders are on a spectrum. Too much empathy and you get taken advantage of, too little, no one wants to be around you. Most journalists do not know how to interpret and read studies, so you get data out of context and sensationalist headlines, and many of the mental and emotional load studies are based on self-reporting, which are highly biased. Most men are not toxic, and most females are not looking for the three "6s".

Women overall communicate differently than men, which makes each gender less emotionally intelligent when it comes to interacting with the other gender. And communication failure can usually be reasonably blamed on either one of the participants, which is how the explanation that men are to blame for failed communication works in most contexts.

It seems to be an issue of semantics as emotional intelligence seem to have multiple conflicting definitions.

If emotional intelligence is about recognizing their own and other peoples emotions and acting on their own emotions, women are more emotionally intelligent than men, As men are known to not recognize emotions or act/choose on emotion nearly as much.

If emotional intelligence is about hiding, showing, or changing emotional expression to fit social, emotional and psychological situations, men are more emotionally intelligent, because they are known for being able to deal way better with emotions as adversities and to fit better to situations regardless of emotional state.

All that usually applies to men they are not very attracted to or settled for.

You're slightly mistaken here. While studies do show that women have higher EQ on average, but that's all.

The problem here is that many BlueP men and women misinterpret this.

This doesn't mean that women are somehow better than men, or even that women are less aggressive than men. It only means that women are more cowardly (which is normal) and, as a result, have acquired, on average, a keener social awareness to avoid danger from men (who are, on average, stronger).

However, this doesn't prevent women from being just as aggressive and unempathetic as men, but only toward those who are weaker, as confirmed by various statistics on domestic violence and child abuse, where women can be just as bad as the men they fear.

Not only that but most women find it really hard to believe that men just instinctively want to have sexual variety even if they love a woman. They always try to bring it back to some specific moral failing of a particular man. The idea that this preference might just be a biological reality incentivized by men not having the same reproductive constraints as women (1 baby per 9 months) is unacceptable to them.

On average, women have a much higher EQ than men do.

If you give men and women tasks that require high EQ women do tend to perform better at those tasks.

Women tend to understand social dynamics better. They spend more time developing and maintaining social networks when compared to men.

They also tend to seek help more when they are struggling.

Also this argument can’t prove anything. Because it just shows mistakes that women make and not comparing it to anything. It’s like i’ll say that men are dumber than chimpanzees because most of them are falling behind in studies. Maybe. But what about chimpanzees?

I don't agree with this sentiment and I haven't seen it played out. If men are bad at regulating anger, women are bad at regulating sadness/upset. We default to the emotion that is more socially acceptable for us to express in negative times. Also, I think it's kind of hilarious that some people think simply being more outwardly expressive equals emotional intelligence. But I do admit, women are better at being social and building a sense of community now.

Emotional intelligence is mostly used as a prescriptive code by women who think their way of dealing with emotions is best.

The truth is men and women have different ways of processing their emotions, generally, and it gets even more varied when you break it down by individuals (because some men and women buck the trends).

Neither approach is inherently better or worse than the other. But yes I do hate it when people, usually women, pretend like their way is the one that is best in an absolute sense. It's about context, and that's the only deciding factor as to which one is more productive and healthier in a given scenario.

You'd have to deny the scientific research on this matter to believe that. As this study confirms, due to women's higher emotional intelligence, they make more effective leaders than men. And then there is this oft-cited meta-analysis.

Now, to explain what you're apparently observing: you may not understand how averages and bell curves work. There will be men who are more emotionally intelligent than the average woman. All it is, is that the average woman is more emotionally intelligent than the average man - so it doesn't make the entire gender immune to manipulation. Also, I feel like spotting manipulation takes more than just emotional intelligence but also education on psychology topics. If you don't know the signs of a narcissist by studying psychology, it doesn't matter how emotionally intelligent you are, you could get manipulated still. It's similar to how someone with a higher aptitude with logic and math: if they don't actually study/practice/do math and logic, then they won't be particularly good at it. Their intelligence will only shine when they actually practice their skill.

People on PPD don’t quite understand how much intelligence and wisdom comes from experience, especially bad ones. Like it or not- failure is a great educator. And it’s not like any of us are handed the “this is how to like other people” manual in middle school.

So lots of young people experience pain and rally around each other in social circles and learn.

The mainstream use of “emotional intelligence” typically means:

A willingness/openness wrt comprehending perspectives outside of your own.
Being mutually considerate of other people.
Reading the room aka being intuitive wrt interpersonal dynamics.

.

Basically active empathy.

Research and observation consistently confirm that more females than males have a higher propensity for the bulleted.

That said, don’t confuse “empathy” for “sympathy” or “compassion”. You can practice empathy and still not necessarily feel sympathy or compassion for someone else. But most folks who practice empathy do tend to navigate the world with mutual consideration and a general mindfulness wrt others.
