I’m turning 30 in a few weeks! Very exciting. Months ago, I let my bf know that I had been dreaming of going to this very famous restaurant in the area for my 30th for many years, so he went ahead and made reservations for my birthday. Today, 2 weeks before the dinner, he texts me and suggests that we go 50/50 on the dinner. Or in his words “we pay for each other’s meal”. I had already planned a dinner for his birthday the following week, but he said today that he would prefer we just split my dinner and skip having a dinner for him. We both earn 6 figures and the dinner is a few hundred.

My response: “No thank you.”
