Can’t believe all the advice in here which essentially is boiling down to “shower, haircut, gym”. I thought that meme died a long time ago.

When it comes to looksmaxing everyone has a base level of potential. Sub 5’s are not becoming 8’s just because they start working out a little and get a generic high fade haircut. The guy who’s 5”6 won’t magically grow six inches. He’s always going to be 5”6, that’s the hand he’s been dealt and will always be a factor that goes against him. Similarly, losing body fat will sharpen your facial features but you still need good facial features to begin with. Something to work with. You won’t suddenly turn into Brad Pitt or a male model. Plenty of my friends work out, enjoy sports and are lean/thin. Their faces are still bang average.

Now I’m not against any of this advice. Better hygiene and a gym routine is important but the idea that it’s going to transform your dating/sex life is a fallacy. If we’re honest those guys killing themselves in the gym would be better spending half that time figuring out a way to make money. And then make more money. That’s what will give them long term success. They’ll never get that “instant lust” as referred to in the OP. They need to play the long game. And after you’ve made your money if you really want to go down a route, go down the plastic surgery one if it matters to you that much.

Don't rely on your weaknesses - have strengths. Recognize what's realistic, accurate and sustainable for you to have as a strength.

ie If looks are not your strength, at least be proud of how well you take care of yourself (as in, be proud of what you do to take care of yourself; actually have self-maintenance routines to be proud of). This looks different for each individual, and relies on your own personal priorities, but it's painfully obvious who has pride in themselves and how they take care of themselves and who doesn't.

Basics involve: Keep your hair clean, brushed and trimmed regularly. Women notice this, considering they're coached from a young age to maintain their hair, so they can tell what poorly maintained hair looks like. Same for skin care - you don't have to have a 30-minute moisturizing routine, but at least be aware of which types of soap work for your body and which don't (the wrong soap will leave a residue on your skin, or leave your skin stripped of natural oils, which makes it produce more oil over the day, leaving your greasy looking even if you are washing.)

Some dudes take pride in healthy diet (even better to be able to cook healthy foods for yourself; again, the key is "what can you be proud of", what do you actually put effort in to?) For some dudes, this just means they're not fat; they wear clothes that accentuate their hip-to-shoulder ratio (skinny jeans are awesome for showing off the shape of your legs, too, if you can survive the pinch lol), for some dudes this means working out and bulking up. There are women who are into either body type, so again, look for what works for your body. You want how your shaped to explain a little bit about what you do with your time!

And yeah, there are people who don't have to put in as much effort, who are just naturally hot, but unless you are naturally hot, you're a fool if you rely on "being hot" to attract anyone. That's not a strength you can rely on -- find a different one. Artists get dates by finding ways to express their creativity (not just musicians, either -- I've gotten a date before just hanging out downtown painting in the park. People are curious about talents; if they know you have them, they'll often come over to talk to you, just because they're curious.)

I've also gotten dates from: Dancing at a club (actually dancing, as in being one of the only men in the room on the dance floor, gesturing invitations to people to join me; asking a girl to dance still has a lot of old romance sewn into it.) Inviting girls along on fun adventures I researched (taking a boat tour of an ancient boat lock system; attending a huge agricultural fair where we got to see a bunch of aware-winning farm animals, a life-size butter sculpture of a cow, I bought a bag of freshly-sheared wool for a friend of mine to spin; a road trip to Salem to see all the Witch Trial memorials; a jaunt to see Body Worlds when it was in town ect.) -- Note, I say "Invite them along", not "ask them on a date to...". These are activities I have already decided to do on my own and I will do them regardless of whether a date comes with me. Have friends on hand who also like going out and doing things so you can have a Plan B: FUN OUTING even if a girl says "no thanks". Always have a way to enjoy yourself that doesn't rely on other people providing that joy.

If you can't BE someone that IS hot, DO things that are INTERESTING and FUN. Even hotness can get boring once you run out of conversation. Sex only lasts 20 minutes. Have something else you can do together that isn't sitting around waiting for the other person to entertain you.

From what I've hear from most women, they either like skinny guys, fat guys with some muscle or very very rarely if they're gym thots, a very muscular dude.

I've hear a lot of women say that bodybuilders, that have really big muscular bodies, aren't attractive to them.

So basically either you're skinny or muscular with fat.

If you're too skinny, might wanna try and add some muscle, same goes for if you're fat. Muscles, in moderation, are really attractive to women.

If you're short, padded shoes and hope for women that don't care about height as much.

Bad faces require detailed skin care routines, and high confidence/being funny. To compensate for the thing they're staring at all the time. Your face.

Balding? Shave it. Only if it's a real bad case ofcourse. Or hair implants if you wanna go extreme.

I personally am much more relaxed when it comes to that stuff... I'm fat with some muscle in the background. Girls that like a nice type of dude that's chubby are mah whamen.

But doe most of them, grooming yourself to a good enough level to get over the minimum requirement to approach women should be doable. After that, you must have enough game to charm her. That's the thing about looks IMHO, you just have to look good enough to open the door and then enough game to charm her. Also I am talking mostly about LTRs, not casual hookups.

Aside from the advice around looksmaxxing, another thing to keep in mind: know your target market. If you are trying to attract women of a certain set of values or a caliber, you need to try to figure out what attracts them and if you offer it. I’m talking about factors beyond looks (personality, hobbies/interests, financial stability, overall lifestyle). While “leagues” are a myth to a certain degree, like still attracts like.

But if you’re talking purely physical: I think the vast majority of men underestimate how much dressing well matters. Follow some men’s fashion instagrams. Go to a tailor and get your clothes fitted, or find out how clothes should fit.

A funny dude who dresses well will do well with women. Even if he’s short, bald, or what-have-you.

Also nice teeth and other forms of grooming go a long way to make up for deficits in other areas.

Nothing really. Women are attracted to a small percentage of men. But you can up your odds of being acceptable. Maybe wear a wig if you are severely balding or shave it off if that suits you. Being small framed is really bad, you're going to spend a ton of time lifting heavy weights just to look average, but it will up your odds, just don't expect much. Shoe lifts for being below average, I think you can get away with adding 2 inches. Anymore will make you thought of as a clown.

It's not nice to say but some people are just not good looking and they cant do anything about it. It is not impossible that someone might still find them attractive but there's no guide that will tell them how to achieve this. All i can say is definitely not by trying to pursue conventional ways. The ugly men that are attractive to some are attractive by being themselves, whether you like it or not - it works when you're something special. No one can tell you what that means becuase it is completely different from case to case.

Work out, dress well, eat well. Get plastic surgery if that helps. I have a friend who has done his jaw, a friend who got nose surgery. I’ve seen jaw line fillers in action and they work wonders. Some Botox in the right places helps too. A balding man should either shave it all off and embrace bald life or get a hair transplant. Skin care routine. Trim your fkn nails. Get a man-icure. Wax your chest hair.

It won’t turn a 4/10 guy into a Chad, but it can get him up a few points.

If you want male lust, date men. Women are not men, and do not have a male sex drive. Women can and do find some men attractive, but it’s usually different than what you feel as a man when you see a picture of tits and know instantly that you wanna smash.

Beards are trending, so try it if you can.

There are so many bald men who look ok with their shaved or trimmed heads.

Height is a bitch, the key is not giving a shit. But it takes balls and success with women to not give a shit, so catch-22.

Dress decently, it doesn’t take effort to avoid looking like a slob. You don’t need to be sharp or trendy, just not like these guys making manosphere videos.

I have always been fit as an adult but didn't start lifting and paying attention to my diet until I became RP'd about a year ago. I look way better now than I did previously. It's simple stuff that everyone else is posting here, but it all adds up. I once heard it described that self-improvement is the collective effect of dozens of small changes rather than a single life-altering change. You already know what to do, what you require is motivation and patience.

Last thing, men's SMV increases slowly, over months and years. Be patient, hang in there, stay committed.

My guy is short in stature (im taller) and is in the beginning phases of being bald. He also wears a beard so ive never seen his naked face. But he has a really nice nose and eyes and he is super intelligent and makes me laugh (im into stupid humor like “thats what she said”. I feel like if you’re average looking all you need is to have something in common with the other person that you can bond over.

Do the best you can with what you have. Work out. Put effort into your appearance and style. Work on your social skills. In short, strive to become the best, most well-rounded, interesting, decent person you can be.

Don’t over-think it. Despite what toxic sub-reddits will have you believe, women are attracted to more than height, facial symmetry and bank balances. And they tend not to demand anything close to perfection.

Just make self-improvement a habit and you’ll find yourself becoming more attractive to women almost as a side-effect. And, really, it probably should just be a side-effect, rather than the goal.

The way most women can do for men?

In my experience, that’s a myth. There are a great many women who have difficulty achieving sexual or romantic success (however you define success).

Balding: PLEASE shave it. No, you do not have a "weird head". Just shave it.

Short: don't slouch around apologetically; own that shit. Plenty of short guys do just fine because they have swagger. And try more IRL than OLD.

Slight: bulk up, or cultivate one of the "looks" that works better on a slight frame (punk or retro or hipster).

Ugly face: Get a distinctive style and grow some facial hair--a full beard if possible.

That said, "instant lust" is overrated. The idea that you will have to be charming for 20 minutes should not be the end of the world. Most ugly guys would do well to study charm.

Beard up. A well-kept full beard is the epitome of manliness, in my opinion. If the unattractive facial features are under the beard, instant win. If they're not, the beard diverts attention from them. I dated a guy who had a mole on his chin that he was self-conscious about and suggested he grow out his beard. It turns out he had the best genes possible for a beard and I half-jokingly told him that if he ever shaved again I'd leave him. ;)

Dress for your body type. Men somehow seem to think that they can't use the same "tricks" women use to highlight good features and hide bad features.

Instant lust is unlikely unless he's legitimately attractive. However, it's not hard to catch our eye. He needs to 1) stand out 2) be unique and put together enough for our gaze to linger and 3) draw our attention to his best physical traits without obviously trying.
