Many times women get away with things like this, ruining a man's life simply because...whats the downside? Apparently nothing, even though they've shown themselves to be a liar in a most heinous way. If theres the risk of punishment, then the accusations that are made have much more weight because most people will not risk such things if they couldn't back their claims.

She, by willful deception used both law enforcement and the criminal justice system to kidnap, unlawfully restrain, assault and imprison an innocent young person for over five years... What would that system do to any private citizen or group of citizens found guilty of that set of crimes? Where is the culpability for the police and prosecutor? Would they say they were 'only following orders'? I don't know how many of you have ever been arrested, but I have, and it changes you forever. If you put people behind bars for falsely accusations then no one will confess in the future for their false accusations , because they wouldn't put their selves in prison.

If I falsely accuse someone and he/she is in jail and I know that if I tell the truth I'll go to prison - would I tell the truth?

No, she shouldn't. She is a horrible person, and deserves every year in prison he would have gotten. But if we punish those who admit that they lied, they will stop admitting that they lied. That means more men will suffer for crimes they did not commit.

I would rather one hundred false accusers remain free than have one falsely accused man behind bars.
