The wall is not when women can't get men. That effectively never happens - women will always have options, more options than men (even in their 50's and 60's).

The wall is when women can no longer attract the most desirable men (men in their mid 20's to mid 30's that are attractive, have a good career/wealthy, and socially successful) for relationships and their dating pool continually decreases in quality. Typically this happens around 30 but for highly attractive fit women they may be closer to/hit 40 before these men stop considering them for serious relationships.

This is just my observation based on people I know but women don't seem to have problem finding boyfriends after 40 if they are childless, and it's the ones with children that seem to sometimes struggle.

So I don't think it's age, so much as whether the woman is a mother or not, but that is just my experience.

I would say there does come a time when the number of physically able women outnumber men around 65 or so. A lot of men who are retirement age or getting there are looking for someone who can spend retirement with them and nurse them when they have falls/health problems. A woman who is working gets in the way of this, so what age range is preferred kinda depends on his/her finances and what age he retires. Also the level of care he may need and the level of care she may need plays a role. A 60 year old woman who is retired may be preferable to a 50 or 40 year old who is working still and is unwilling to take care of him, it just depends. Young people don’t really see how lonely it is to be 50-60+, especially for those who don’t have kids in the house or many friends. By that age, most people are looking for companionship and care above almost everything else. At least the ones I’ve known and interacted with (mainly silent gen and older Boomers.)

Sure, you could say that but most 50 year old men aren’t necessarily appealing to most women either so i don’t think the difference is super drastic. I think men overestimate what an average, 50 year old man looks like or how appealing they are… Most of you think the rich ones that are in the 1% who can buy relationships with young women. That’s not most men.

I personally have seen my mom and grandmother find partners in their 50s or 60s & they are super happy.. plenty of older men that are retired or divorce are seeking women in their age range.

Society as a whole is pretty wonky, definitely a lot of truth in this post. To simplify a reason for it I think it’s because (generally) women hold a higher opinion of themselves while men typically don’t. The guys that figure it out are typically more desirable to women of all ages because they put up with a lot less and aren’t in search of their mothers replacement. There’s no logical reason for a man who’s “done the work”, has his money sorted, and on a path of success to invite a woman with other men’s offspring; who’s past child bearing age into his life on a long-term basis.

Just because a women has dating options, doesn't mean that

a) they are quality options

b) they are willing to date her seriously

As a women ages, the percentage of men who are A + B diminishes. This is facts. Maybe the wall does not exist for women who generally enjoy casual fllings but that would not represet the majorit of women.

The wall doesn't mean women can't find men anymore. It's when they realize they don't have the same SMV and can't attract the same caliber of men as they could when they were younger. When they see a sharp drop in IOIs, favors and attention. This happens well before 50, although it varies when from woman to woman. As the narrative goes, this is distressing because a lot of women have a hard time being okay with dating a man later down the line who is of lesser value than who they were able to date before.

However overall, Women have it so much easier than men in dating that even if their advantage drops sharply after 35, they still have an easier time dating than men until like after 50....and depending on some women who take good care of themselves or are genetically lucky, maybe much longer.

Edit: LOLZ many femcels disliked this. Not even having the dating upper hand until 50 is enough peace of mind for your fragile asses x)

I think you're misunderstanding the wall.

I say you could consider it to be about 32. This is when women are about as successful in landing men they want as the men are the other way around.

You could consider it 40. This is when women start to slide below men's success in landing the attention of those they like.

You could say it's 50. This is when women have actually slid significantly below men in their success rates.

Regardless it is not some sudden "oh shit , I have no options" it's simply when those options dwindle by an amount significant enough to be felt.

There will be options throughout life, there are just points where it gets significantly more difficult to find suitable ones than it was in the past.

There are many posts here from both men and women that conflate the idea of getting able to find someone with the idea of finding the person they want or a person at least as high-value as they used to find. When people say men are lonely because a small proportion of men are getting all the sex, they don't mean other men will die virgins or never find a woman to get married at all. Likewise, when people talk about the wall at 30 is because it's when men of the same age start to have the upper hand in terms of optionality and she becomes much less attractive to the kind of men she used to attract: it doesn't mean she'll die alone.

There isn't really a hard wall, but the point of the concept is to show that women are at the peak where every man will treat them well from 18 to their to mid 20s. After that, some men may not treat them as well because they are not at peak attractiveness, even though they may still be attractive.

The point is to contrast it to what men (supposedly) experience, where they are treated better by society when they are in their 30s or even 40s, but often suffer through their early 20s because they are young, inexperienced, and don't have much wealth.
