Why do men watch porn?

I feel like there’s some incoherent reasoning here when I look at the sentiment around men viewing porn.

When you go to things like nofap and other anti-porn subreddits - it seems to be mostly full of men who were addicted to porn. Which is very different than people who have a healthier relationship with porn. (However you define that but we can agree that even for things we may consider toxic, less of toxic thing is “healthier”) To me, it’s like forming all your views on alcohol based on AA meetings. Maybe without alcohol the world would be better and maybe without porn the world would be better - but both would require significant changes as to how the world works on a fundamental level. (For instance, we’d have to confront social anxiety directly all the time and never could use alcohol as a crutch to get through that - that is a groundbreaking change)

So, to me, I’m trying to understand from PPD users (plz specify gender in your response at the least) why you think men watch porn. Do you think men are a monolith (all are addicts? What is an addict? What constitutes an unhealthy amount as opposed to other things?) or do you think there is nuance? How is the nuance spread?

Personally, I’m finding very little interesting discussion around this because it feels like people are talking about different people when they mention stuff like porn. They’re often talking about the men in nofap (self admitted addicts) or the men not in nofap or the guys who only pay for onlyfans deepfake porn (a small niche - few men ever pay for porn) or the guys who watch porn only and never have sex with their eager wife (small niche), etc. etc.

It feels similar to arguments around alcohol, tbh. Yet, we don’t cast alcohol out as a villain as much as we do porn cause we are able to see more of the societal goods … and cause it’s a deep part of our cultures. We see the problems as a result of addiction and not necessarily the substance itself.

So, PPD, why do men watch porn? Any self-reflection here as to why they might? Also, what is the alternative to porn btw - for all the men who don’t have it?
