I genuinely don’t understand how people come to these conclusions about FDS. We aren’t a bunch of lonely women who think we are perfect and will only settle for rich men. Like ffs, I’ve seen so many posts on here about taking care of yourself, being the best version of yourself, and making sure you have your OWN money. Plus I see plenty of women on here commenting about their HVM sooo that just goes to show that we don’t have impossible standards.

I’m sick of women being demonized for knowing their worth and for expecting a partner to at least meet them at their level. PLUS we as women have to super selective because men actually pose a real physical threat to us?? Just look at the rates of domestic violence. Spousal homicide. Sexual assault. And so on. Unless I've somehow massively understood FDS, the FDS ethos is essentially: "It's better to be alone than to be with someone who drags you down."

That's not an unrealistic standard nor incel-like behaviour. Unlike incels, who are all about "We HaVe RiGhT To wOmEn. Pretty women who are (kinky) sex dispensers and don't mind that we don't reciprocate pleasure, reciprocate attention, etc."

Incels are about having rights to someone else. FDS is about having the right to self-determination.

I suspect the author thinks we're all damsels in lonely distress waiting for a man, any man, to pair up with and make lots and lots of babies with because that's the only way to live a fulfilling life in their mind. Lonely and bitter women? I‘m happily married, but go off, handmaidens. And I’d rather be joyfully single forever than wash skidmarks out of a LVM husband’s undies while he sits on his ass watching Fox News or beats off all day in the bathroom while I clean the house. Being married to a loser is a prison sentence and is extremely lonely, much more so than being single- ask all the women trapped in abusive marriages.

If she actually read FDS she would see that it is here to help us become independent, secure, and successful women that can stand on our own two feet and have our own already fulfilled lives. We simply do not need a man, we aren't lonely, stupid, bored, or desperate. If a man does enter our lives we are looking for someone that is at least on our level already and also a full adult (bare minimum of supports himself, has his own place, cooks, cleans, etc). We already have confidence and self respect so we aren't willing to take care of a man child, be manipulated, or taken advantage of.

She sounds like a pickme and some women really think that just because they settled, get treated like shit, and are miserable that all other women also have to suffer. This is her attempt to drag us down to her level. It's immature and childish, but it is a cry for help as well.

We also realize her that men should put on effort. We shouldn't have to "work" for anything for a man, we already have jobs where work actually pays us. Why work for free doing mental labor, planning dates for a man etc when we already have actual jobs. There are girlfriend privileges and wife privileges pickmes can't understand that.

But also: back in the day men generally worked and supported women. She stayed home and did the housework and raised the family. In return, he gave her an allowance and would still treat her to holiday gifts, still take her and the kids out to dinner, and take them on vacations (not glorifying it read further)

Today men want a woman to do the housework, raise the kids, work a full time job AND pay half the bills! They want women to do even more AND pay! And not a lot of husbands bother to take her out or even celebrate holidays anymore.

I adopted the FDS attitude years ago after going to therapy and learning how much my abusive family set me up for having a couple of abusive relationships.

Boundaries, clear communication, raising the bar to include being treated how you yourself treat others... how is this such a bizarre concept to some people?

After therapy and setting up boundaries, my HVM husband fell into my lap. It was like something clicked inside me and the rest fell into place. I told him straight away at the start what my expectations were, and it was scary because I'd never even defined them for myself before then. I did a lot of work in therapy and I felt more at peace, and in alignment with what I wanted. It's been almost four years and we continue to grow together. Every day he supports me, listens, and actively works on our happiness, and I do the same. We put equal effort into our relationship and it feels amazing to not be the one giving more all the time and hoping to be rewarded for it. He sees me as an equal but treats me like a queen (I thank his mom regularly for raising a great man). I read him stories from this sub and he can't believe that some men are the way that they are and that women put up with it. FDS women are not asking too much. The bar is just that low, so lazy men want to keep getting away with women taking care of everything. They don't want to change themselves even a little, so they attack anyone who holds them accountable for themselves. They want a mommy they can fuck and they want to resent her and use her as a scapegoat for their own problems. There's so many of these scrotes, but I swear that there are men out there who are good! If you stop settling, you'll find them. And if you don't, it's better to be alone than to be stuck with a scrote.
